Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
And don't forget the UFOs are habitually very stealthy (I don't known how their designer can design UFOs at same time stealthy and with one or many very powerful sources of light in very bright colours, perhaps the aliens are blinds in the visual spectrum, or they have only black and white vision?)

F-100 Juan de Borbon integrated in the CVN-77 CVBG
In the first deployment in Europe of the CVN-77 George H.W. Bush, the Spanish AEGIS frigate F-102 Juan de Borbon (the never-king father of Juan Carlos I) is integrated for a month in the CVN-77 CVBG (named GHWB Carrier Strike Group in this case): http://www.meretmarine.com/article.cfm?id=116308 I remember it's not an unusual situation, that is not the first time a F-100 series frigate is integrated in a CVBG. Also, I constate the usual escort from a time ago in a CVBG is 2xCG Ticonderoga and 2xDDG Arleigh Burke, but see also: http://www.public.navy.mil/airfor/cvn77/Pa...sSquadrons.aspx

The F-35 Saga
The same thing in the May 2011 Air International issue, page 39 of the F-35 supplement: Now in my mind: perhaps it will be better for market issues to name the F-35 as "Little Raptor" or "Baby Raptor".

More specifications: I remember long time ago, in many UFO books, the maximum speed habitually quoted for UFOs is 27000 Km/h. The reason is only because that is the escape speed from the Earth, and logically an alien space ship must be capable of at least reach that speed (supposing it don't come from other dimension or the Hollow Earth) ... But I think the maximum factible speed in HCE is 9999

I've recuperated the Hargamer connection. I will post here some links about coastal defence, guns, missiles and radars, for amusement and for not lose it. Swedish RBS-15KA: associated radar PS902 http://kustartilleriet.gearhead.se/KARB.html (and not, I don't read Swedish !!!) About RBS-15 http://rbs-15.co.tv/ Coastal artillery: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=4S3h8j_...ies&f=false Swedish radars: Kondor 9KR 400 radar for RBS-17/Hellfire Kastell 9KA 400/Kardinal 9KA 500 fire control radars Karat 9KM 400 for Penguin Mk 2. Norwegian defences (look for "the present coastal artillery"), incluiding coastal batteries (I remember some years ago more heavy artillery, and now only with RBS17/Hellfire, not Penguins)(also an interesting map about the Norwegian zones of economical interest): http://www.regjeringen.no/en/dep/fd/docume....html?id=419385 More the next time ...

The F-35 Saga
I post here because I think this is the most consolidated topic line about F-35. Do you known I don't like very much the F-35, but I want to comment a detail finded reading two days ago the May 2011 issue of Air International, in the propaganda-like 48 page supplement about the F-35 (almost none detail about specifications, performances, radar range ...). - F-35 will have a very advanced internal ECM system, designated AN/ASQ-239 Barracuda, and allegdy based on the AN/ALR-94 suite of the F-22. - ASQ-239 provides multispectral ECM against radars, and adds SIGINT capabilities to the F-35. - ASQ-239 has ten dedicated apertures, six on the wing leading edge, two on the trailing edge, and two on the horizontal stabilizer (i.e., ten apertures as 5xALQ-99 ECM pods in a EA-6B Prowler, perhaps with a similar ECM capability but with less power output?). - But my doubt is, the ALR-94 of the F-22 is a mere ESM system or has jamming capabilities? Researching in the net, I only find this reference about possible jamming capabilities is (probably copied from some past open source of Jane's): http://vnfawing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...c63e534034cad2e Perhaps the ALR-94 has jamming capabilities and the ALR designation is to produce some disinformation ....

I regret it but I don't know actually none good site about the Spanish Navy/Armada Española. For easy and fast reference of Spanish ships when I edit my own DBs I use habitually the Wikipedia (and some odd Spanish books), both in English and Spanish, and also because we usually ever consult only data sometimes in other languages, with sourcebooks in they own language reflected in the Wikipedia (it's a good habit to use the Wikipedia in many languages at time, as another example, about German planes it's very useful to use the Wiki also in German. And don't be afraid by foreign languages, I even use the Russian variant of the Wiki and other Russian links, with tools as http://www.online-translator.com/ it's very easy to obtain an aproximative translation (as example, cars =machine (as in the Italian usage and other East Europe languages macchina) usually means car, but it means aircraft in our usual contexts)). But here I show you some links: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armada_Espa%C3%B1ola The Armada Española official site (I'm very surprised, it's very improved from my last visit, I visit it only casually, it was usually very outdated and with limited data): http://www.armada.mde.es/ArmadaPortal/page...a/_inicio_home/ Good site for Spanish platforms and recently updated, but only current ships and configurations, don't forget the Descubiertas are mostly OPV from 2004 without Sea Sparrow/Aspide (I see the F-105 has some differences in electronics and 25mm Mk38 mod 2 guns not present in the previous F-100 FFGs): http://www.buquesdeguerra.com/buques/fraga...-de-bazan-f-100 Another ship list: http://www.losbarcosdeeugenio.com/barcos/ae_list_es.html Ships deployment: http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6005 Blog about old ships (apparently only DDs): http://buquesdelaarmada.blogspot.com/ Site don't updated from ten years ago, but with some good data: http://www.revistanaval.com/armada/ Forum of the above mentioned site: http://boards2go.com/boards/board.cgi?user=morato Defence industry news: http://www.infodefensa.com/?page_id=59 http://www.ateneadigital.es/RevistaAtenea/...PortadaHome.asp About very old topics and ships: http://www.armada15001900.net/ And if you want any particular data don't doubt on ask me, in the forum or by private e-mail Enrique,

Probably bad book about Area 51
I reference this book for sake of clarification and to prevent erroneous purchases. I suppose the book is the result of a mainstream author/journalist writing about a subject she ignores previously, and write about it as she was the first person in writting about it or having original ideas/aportations about the matter (As analogy, the fans of Science-Fiction, and they are a lot in Harpgamer, know clearly the very bad results of mainstream authors writing "Science-Fiction" without knowledge of the previously writted ideas and conventions in the genre): http://www.npr.org/2011/05/17/136356848/ar...fos-or-the-ussr As examples: - The Horten brothers developing Flying Saucers and not Flying Wings, and treated as not-famous aircraft designers .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horten_brothers - Pure garbage : - , clearly they are not bases called Area XX, is a conventional name for the Atomic Energy Commission : http://science.howstuffworks.com/space/ali...fos/area-51.htm- Orson Welles War of the Worlds was a radio broadcast of 1938, I doubt very much it contains any description of "grey aliens", not present neither in the original H.G. Wells War of the Worlds.- It's not a new idea. That idea is very similar to a idea mentioned as especulative possibility in the masterwork serial and film Quatermass and the Pit, about the nazis launching a modified V-2 full of fake "martians" to the Greater London on the WWII, to confuse the Allied intelligence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quatermass_and_the_Pit_(film) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quatermass_and_the_Pit

Roger, wilco. Got a specific suggestion for a generic coastal gun battery? I am thinking it would have to be something on the larger caliber side to have the range to be operationally useful in HCE. Ok, I will do some research about coastal guns the next week, when I will return at home.

An element I see missing longtime but I only remember now: shore anti-ship mobile batteries of the most common types, as Harpoon, Exocet and Penguin. And perhaps some generic coastal gun batteries, probably protected in bunkers or casemates, basically for WWIII scenarios, some of them in Norway or Spain

Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
I know that we've already ventured to some degree into this scale of warfare, what with the individually modeled armored vehicles and UAVs and such, but do we need to model 'individuals'? I'm not necessarily against the concept, but I would like to hear more input. On the game map the target will still appear as a truck or tank, so do we need to go any further than we already have? We can already represent neutrals of the same type. It's only for sake of game flavour, specialle for new harpgamers not so religious like us, I know the game outcome will be the same.

Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
Can you be more specific? Writing from the smartphone with difficult: - individual terrorrist, similar to downed pilots, not necesarily armed. - neutral civilians, similar to downed pilots, unarmed, to mix and discriminate between the terrorists or other targets. - SUV and/or similar civilian vehicles, to simulate usual targets of UAVs (SUV Carriyng terrorists)
-
Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
As they are plenty of ship entries and after the bin Laden scenario experience, I think we can add some targets for UAVs and Special Forces, as SUVs or individual terrorists (and stop to shoot at poor unharmful downed pilots ), and some civilians/neutrals to add fog of war.
