Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
Digesting the impressive new planes in HCDB-120405: - I think the APS-107 in F-105F/G is not a radar, is a combined RWR/ESM/targeting system, as descripted in http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8...-Tucker/00.shtm or in http://www.designation-systems.net/usmilav...r2aps.html#_APS In my personal tables I see the F-105D/F (and probably G) radar is the ASG-19/NASARR R-14A Thunderstick (The radome is clearly bigger in F-105D and later marks than in F-105B. Alternative designation MA-9?, optimized for ground attack, my estimates: AS/SS, range=30, PH=50), not a Weather radar as in F-105B/D (Historically RO in F-105B, a MA-8/E-34 ranging radar) neither APS-107 as in F-105F/G.

Another forgetted old fighter but in the early eigthies in the twilight of her career and not very relevant at that time, F-100 Super Sabre: F-100 Super Sabre (Denmark, 1959-August 1982): 48 F-100D and 24 F-100F delivered. One third losed in accidents. F-100 Super Sabre (Turkey, 1958-1982): A grand total of some 206 F-100C/D/F delivered (at least 92 F-100C from 1972 and probably others earlier, at least 87 F-100D/F). Used in the 1974 action on Cyprus. Other former users deleted the F-100 a few years earlier, as Taiwan in 1979 and France in 1978.

About the Italian FREMM frigates (slightly enlarged and modified post in relation with the posted in the News in Europe section): From Mer et Marine, and with implications in the DB: http://www.meretmarine.com/article.cfm?id=119189 For now, six commanded frigates: F590 Carlo Bergamini: General purpose variant, shore bombardment. F591 Virginio Fasan: ASW variant. F592 Carlo Margottini: ASW variant. F593 Luigi Rizzo: ASW variant. F594 unnamed: ASW variant. F595 unnamed: General purpose variant, shore bombardment. Main differences: The main gun in the General purpose variant is a 127mm/64 OTO Melara LW. The main gun in the ASW variant is a 76mm/62 OTO Melara Super Rapid. (and another aft 76mm gun and 2x25mm/80 OTO Melara Oerlikon single guns in both variants, the French variant has only a forward 76mm). Missiles General purpose variant: 8xOtomat Mk2 Block IV/Teseo Mk2/A. Missiles ASW variant: 4xOtomat+4xMilas. (and 16xVLS Aster 15 in both variants). Also, the Italian FREMM would be retrofitted with ASTER 30, the French ones is not capable. Note, at start only 16xVLS, not 32 as previously reported, and present in the French variant, see this picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/it/6..._bergamini4.JPG Torpedoes: apparently 2x2 torpedo tubes in the General purpose variant and 2x3 torpedo tubes in the ASW variant, for MU-90 torpedos. Sonar: both variants with TMS 4110 CL (Hull). The ASW variant adds a UMS 4229 CAPTAS (Towed). In the General purpose variant the room of the towed sonar is occupied by a dock for assault boats. Other commons: Radar: both Italian variants with EMPAR NG, not EMPAR. Helicopters: both variants with 2xNH-90 or 1xNH-90+1xEH-101 (large helicopter capable) (The French FREMM are only capables of one helicopter). http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/FREMM

Australian Committee hears details of F-35 performance in [Harpoon3 MilSim] wargame
In late May I will do a presentation of a paper about 30 years after the Falklands/Malvinas WAR. The presentation will be supported probably by some Harpoon graphics (itks not the first time I will mention Harpoon in an academic paper). I will mention also this use in the Austrealian parlament, and my Pooner 2011 award ...

Modeling amphibious assault
I think it's a good idea but out of the game scoop, the scale and simulation is inadecuate. The Divisions in the DB, as example, are modelled almost only as targets for air and sea units. But you can do some test playing this interesting and relative old scenario (Phillipine Crunch by Stanlintc) to test the virtues and shorcomings of land combat: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=297

Some ideas and hints about old warplanes based on my tables about old planes, more or less about the missing time period (1980-1991?) in the DB, but not particular interest in none of them. Only for sake of historicity. Perhaps the Crusaders, F-105, Draken, Wessex, FB-111A and Sea Hawk can be the priorities: A-4M Skyhawk (USMC 1971-1990, 1990-1994 in reserve squadrons). Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
Yes, I'was thinking about the installation problem this morning. A possibility is to write a indexed DB of realworld installations (mainly ports and airports) with their coordinates and mention of some basic carectheristics (as air defenses or radars), for use by the scenario creators, but I'm very short on time these months ...

Oriskany Airwing
I regret I've not an ultimate answer, but it's probably here, sometimes with detailes bureau of aeronautics numbers: http://www.gonavy.jp/CV-CV34f.html Some other hints here and there for other time periods: http://navysite.de/cvn/cvw.htm ( Cited previously by Akmatov here http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?s...amp;#entry12069 ) Some data from U.S. Aircraft Carriers - An Illustrated Design History, by Norman Friedman, Naval Institute Press 1983, page 292: CVA Essex (SBC-27A), CVA-9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 33, 34, 39: 23xAD Skyraider 13xF2H Banshee 16xF9F-5 Panther 22xF9F-6 Cougar 1xHUP Retriever CVA Essex (SBC-27C), CVA-11, 14, 16, 19, 31, 38: 16xAD-6 Skyraider 6xAD-4B Skyraider 10xAD-4NA Skyraider 12xF2H-3 Banshee 44xF9F-6 Cougar 1xHUP Retriever And I remember at the start of the Reagan Administration the idea of reactivate Oriskany with 40xAV-8, A-4 or A-7 (It was decided the carriage of only a plane type to simplify maintenance and logistics).

About the Saudi Arabia Typhoon, from the Air Forces Monthly April 2012 issue: Apparently IOC 2011. Only 24 aircraft delivered to 2012 (delivered between June 2009 and September 2011, plans to assembly the 48 remaining Typhoons in Saudi Arabia were abandoned, they will be assembled in Warton). AAM are AIM-120C5 and IRIS-T, not AIM-132 as in the DB.

Some considerations about the Lutjens-class DDG: Sources: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klasse_103/103A/103B (very well explained in German) and the “High Tide” supplement: The original German designation are: - Type 103: early designation with Tartar SAM (from the 1969 start, as entry 3743 Lutjens (80)). - Type 103A: middle designation after the 1981 refit, replacing Tartar with Standard SAM and with boilers capables of working with light oil (from entry 3742 Lutjens (81)). - Type 103B: late designation, replacing the Mk68 FCS with the Mk86 FCS, adding SPQ-9A and SPG-60 radar. As consequence, in the DB, the SPQ-9A radar should be add only after the 1984 refit. The 20mm/65 Rh202 guns were added only from near 1993 (they are not presente in books older at least than 1990, the first reference I saw was in the Janes 2001), and confirmed in the German Wikipedia. • Apparently other possible weapons fits from the 1993 refit are 2xStinger SAM and 2xMG: “optional zwei Fliegerfäuste und zwei Maschinengewehre“
