Some considerations about the MiG-31 Foxhound and his variants, after the latest news of the March 2012 issue of Air International, and the book MiG-31 - Famous Russian Aircraft, by Yefim Gordon, Ian Allan – Midland 2005: The MiG-31M Foxhound-B development ceased near 1997 (for the english version of the Wikipedia and other books or sites the MiG-31M is confused with other variant or variants of MiG-31, and erroneouly stated as “in service”, and equipped with in service K-37 missiles). The MiG-31M Foxhound is a new airframe with six supports for big AAM in the underbelly, the other variants have only four supports. The K-37/AA-X-13 Arrow development ceased als…

OK, I'm using the newly provided blank DB to make my own fictional database. What I want to know is this...since I plan to use many of the weapons and mounts in the current official DB, is there any possible way to copy those two annexes from the official DB into my fictional DB? (Trust me, I just went through the Installations DB and it was over 1000 bases, not including the double entries (IE red/blue) and SAM locations/Ground unit instances...ughh!) I've been reading the help files, but they may as well be written in a foreign language, as I can make no sense of them what so ever. If it is even possible, I'd need to know what to transfer and how to go abou…

Is it possible to model suicide boats in HCCE? Essentially a platform that delivers a short range, high damage attack and then sinks. Both Al Qeda and the Tamil Tigers have used this strategy navally. Could it work?

Played the NACV scenario #15 "Retreat". The Soviet unit CVHG Baku has mount/weapon mismatch. The SA-N-9 launchers has been given SS-N-9 Siren anti-ship missiles. Edit - Also the Badger-J doesn't have any jammers in it's loadout (like how the EA-6B has them). So it becomes useless for anything except providing a surface search radar backup to the Bear D. And the Nimrod ASW plane having sidewinders is making the AI use it for intercepting air units even though it's the ASW loadout. It's going for them even if that air unit is a 12 plane squadron of Flankers. They're probably better off with those removed from the ASW loadout.

I didn't dig too deeply into it but I couldn't load Australian Seahawks or Seasprites onto the ANZAC or OHP frigates. Is the size set too large?

I would like to know if there is a way to include pics or line drawings and linking them to the platform in the DB. I find a lot have got a no pic available and I would like to correct as many as I can in the DB. As a Naval Electronic Sensor Operator (Canadian Navy) I would like to include photos of CDN platforms that currently show (no pic available)

While working on those EC2003 Giuk scenarios I've noticed, that for some reason you can't put F-35A on CV Mitchel. I know Mitchell is a "what-if" platform, but when F-15E or F-117 can operate from it and F-35A cannot, it seems illogical. In Platform Editor F-117 has a runway class "Small Aircaft", F-15E - "Large Aircraft" and F-35A - "Small Aircaft". CV Mitchel has a runway class "VLarge Aircraft" - so F-35A should be fit, just like F-35B and F-35C.

As consequence of some post interchanged with Brad the other day, I've make a chart about the plane carrying capacity of a great number of Aircraft Carriers and other plane-capable ships. First, some comments about it and the numerical values in the attached file. Basically, as commented a few days ago, I've detected some incongruence in HCE/HUCE Databases, I think now the problem comes from the paper rules and from his application to Computer Harpoon and his DBs. In the paper rules it's not the numerical limitation of the Computer Harpoon database, and a player can research in naval books and do changes in plane capacity as result, it's only a pencil and pap…

File Name: HC_65to80_DB File Submitter: divefreak File Submitted: 22 Feb 2008 File Updated: 27 Feb 2011 File Category: Databases Authors: René Haar Game Version: HCE Hi this is an attempt to create a db for the old times when missiles were not the most important weapon.... The last changes to HCE make this possible.... It is a derivate/follow on of the merged Euro and Atlantic DB, therefore it is covering 90% of the world´s navys So all scen designers are welcome to create scens for this db. Fixed some crashes with faulty Loadouts and mounts.... A little comment on the naming convention for all entries an (x) before the name mar…

I notice that Kadena AFB on Okinawa is missing from the West Pac battle set. As one of the pillars of the PACAF I hope its' added to the final CE release. I can use a generic AB for it but it's just a matter of principle :>... Is this a function of the platform DB or are bases handled in another way? Thanks!

The other day (while washing dishes) I wondered about how far back reverse compatibility of Data Bases is necessary. Does a current database need to be reverse compatible to before the last commercial full release? The 'new' (post EC2003) battlesets that use external databses have now been around for quite some time. When a new release appears necessary databases for the older scenarios could perhaps be provided separately in a 'legacy' section or the like. At some stage we might see built in scenarios from the WWs or cold war period so some way of organising multiple databases would need to be built into the setup anyway. If at every commercial release the data base co…

The BAE Systems Tempest is a proposed sixth-generation fighter aircraft that is under development in the United Kingdom for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft is intended to enter service from 2035, gradually replacing the Eurofighter Typhoon. It is being developed as part of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme by a consortium known as Team Tempest, which includes the Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Leonardo, and MBDA UK. £2 billion is planned to be spent by the British government on the initial phase of the project up to 2025. https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2023/02/10/wallace-urges-italy-japan-to-stick-with-just-launch…

Hi Brad or Tony I am a long time user and editor of Harpoon games from days 360 of Both types , I just restarted when I purchased HCE about a month ago , I was modifying the HCDB-080122 for my own use, I wanted a database with just a few countries (UK France Germany Italy INT Russia USA Canada and maybe Spain ) after I deleted some entries and tried a scenario it said there are no names for that class ie: I was adding a mobile AD site to a Russian Airbase so I add a different Sam and loaded the scenario and it the game Crashed , my question is are you able to delete platforms you are not going to need ? and another question is there a way like in Harpoon 3 database …
