I think this is the right place for this information. At the original database, CV Kuznetsov can only wear 36 aircraft. David Miller, "The Illustrated Directory of Warships, London, 2001", says that "the planned capacity of the ship is 58 aircraft". And Chris Chant, "Barcos de Guerra, Alcobendas, 2006", says that it is able to carry between 60 and 70 aircraft. If you are editing your own database, as I do, you can modify this entry. A typical air wing of 60 aircraft could be: 36*Su-33 Flanker. 12*Ka-25 Hormone A, ASW. 6*Ka-25 Hormone B, Search. 6*Ka-31 Helix, AEW. David Miller also says that a 58 aircraft air wing would be composed of 36 Flankers, …

I can almost buy the Rafale being so stealthy that an E2-C can't see it until it's under 100 miles away but I fire 16 AIM-54 at two of them and they ALL miss? and what kills them? a pair of last second Sparrows?

I'm about to upgrade the PE format from Access 97 to Access 2003 (so that it can be opened with Access 2003-2016 instead of the current Access 97 - 2010). Does anyone have big complaints about this? For those hanging on to Office 97 and 2000 you should be able to install a newer MS Access runtime (*free).

Not is clear what types of AIM-9 were employed in the mainly exported F-104 Starfighters. The follow considerations are basically informed guesses with puntual evidences. Also, we must remember a missile is designed to keep his integrity when loaded in a plane because the vibrations only a few flight hours (most between 40 or 400), and late it will be discarded or remanufactured. One of the most confusing elements is the double designation of the AIM-9F as AIM-9B FGW Mod.2, shortened to AIM-9B in the texts, the confussion provoked to think late Starfighters were equipped with the low performance, old and original AIM-9B. As consequence, most of the literature says A…

Can some one confirm or otherwise my assumption that an aircraft radar with LDSD flag, but no other air search flag, has a blind spot through the tail? TIA Don

  11. Started by JMS,

I had one of this insane ideas the other day, the problem with simulating amphibious warfare is that the only way to do it now is to have the landing ships x time on station, but would it be possible to create standard weapon loadouts simulating the troops and something similar for the defences, like assault helicopters have now? So you will have platoon, company, battalion weapon loadouts with LAND attack capability and something similar (which already exists in terms of brigades and divsions) for defenders - probably the battalion would be superfluous and could be replaced by x Cos - there's something similar on subs and the LCS in the form of SF teams - but this w…

Brad, just downloaded Don´s latest scen, Diego Garcia, which will bring me a lot of fun and nerve-racking battles Included is the F-35 Lightning. I was surprised that both loadouts Intercept and Patrol only allocate four long range missiles to this aicraft. Thought it carried short range IR guided ones, too. Six to eight all in all. Is that bird really so poorly armed and thus not really well suited for dogfight? Regards, Ralf

Access the "DB Share" navigation button, at HarpGamer.com While it still has a single active link to the current HCDB commondb.res (in .zip format), the new section includes reserved slots for future efforts from the members of this group. There are also instructions on what to do if you have a db you'd like to share with the community, so have a look, and if you need the current HCDB, please grab it there.

I'd like to see boarding parties (like that of the the pirate dhow) on patrol boats like Australian Armidale class. Would be particularly nice if one day there is a 'take command' function as an option to damage. I have been trying a pirate dhow against the new suicide boat, the dhow has lost each time so far. 15. As consequence of some post interchanged with Brad the other day, I've make a chart about the plane carrying capacity of a great number of Aircraft Carriers and other plane-capable ships. First, some comments about it and the numerical values in the attached file. Basically, as commented a few days ago, I've detected some incongruence in HCE/HUCE Databases, I think now the problem comes from the paper rules and from his application to Computer Harpoon and his DBs. In the paper rules it's not the numerical limitation of the Computer Harpoon database, and a player can research in naval books and do changes in plane capacity as result, it's only a pencil and pap…

Hi Thanks to the HCE launcher it becomes more and more easy to switch between differnet DBs What i have tested so far is that with the launcher the commonddb files need no longer to be in the HCE Mainfolder and we can edit the name of the files. so my idea and proposal is that we db-designers, those who publish databases regulary, provide them in a zip container, containing a folder named "databases" containing the db file named like hcdb_20100506.res, oder HC-50to65-DB_20100427.res, etc... + the "normal" commondb.res file outside the folder for those not using the launcher... Maybee at a later point we can distribute the db files as an installer file? …

  18. Started by broncepulido,

I'm messing with various time period databases. I know the Radar Cross Section is a doubtful issue, stealth topic aside, but I see very great differences in RCS in WWII DB and the other DBs. As example, P-3 Orion and B-17 Superfortress are planes of very similar size, P-3 in ordinary DB as a RCS of 159, and in WWII DB we find: B-17 RCS=86, and B-29 RCS=88 (And all these planes are with propellors, I know a rotating propellor has a big RCS), Or in smaller planes, P-51 Mustang RCS=70, and the similar size A-37 Dragonfly RCS=137, and I see these are consistent differences between the DBs. Why these enormous differences ? Also, I don't know if it's a relationated is…

Which are the estimated values of runway length for take-off and landing? Is this hypothesis correct? I will wellcome any values: STOL aircraft: 50 meters or lesser. Small aircraft: 51-500 meters. Medium aircraft: 501-1000 meters. Large aircraft: 1001-2000 meters. Very Large aircraft: 2001 meters or more.

I'm returning to HCE after sometime away - I had created a new database and still have the res and rsr files but lost everything else in a hard drive failure - how do I access the data to start modifying it again. Sorry for the bone question but old age is setting in. [CV32: Edited your title to help others in a similar dilemma to more easily find the subject matter of your thread]
