Database Design & Discussion

For those who may have been wondering, there should be a new version of the HCDB available within the week. I have been doing the summer/holiday thing lately, as most of the Harpoon community does this time of year, but its time to put out another release. Other than some units we will be needing for the CPX, and some specific units I am interested in adding myself, such as the planned British CVF aircraft carrier, I am open to your requests. As usual. Based upon interfacing the options in HNR2003 into HCCE components, I believe I have come up with a "common" HCCE LCS. Add 1 AQS-22 sonar and 40 capacity sonarbuoys. F (12)1 Mk48 VLS with 12 cells of ESSM. F (4)2 Mk141 RGM-84C Harpoon – 4 Harpoon A ®1 Mk15 Phalanx Block 1B P/S (1)2 12.7mm HMG A (3)2 Mk32 w/ 3 Mk46 or Mk54 torpedoes, Helo deck with 1 MH-60R and 1 RQ-8.

DB Authors please read through: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/tracker/issue-134-problem-naming-individual-ships/?gopid=641&do=findComment&comment=641 It boils down to a suggestion that you add new ship and submarine names to the end of the list of names for the class so that scenarios built with an older version of your database will show the correct names when played with a newer version of the DB.

I'm back after a long hiatus (real life work takes up too much time but I gotta eat) - anyways - I managed to get HCE working in a VM sandbox. I'm trying to build some test scenarios to get back into the groove - looking for suggestions on how I can create/substitute some China Marine Surveillance Vessels. In the last version of the HCDB I see some AS radars, as they of Su-15 and CF-101B are labeled as RO radars and not as AS radars, and both with a reasonable high range. Is a mishap, or the label RO is not "Range Only" radar ?

When I downloaded and installed HCCE 2005.b09c, I noticed that the installer didn't create a Start Menu shortcut to the Platform Editor. For any users who also noticed this problem, I created a shortcut pointing to the file pfBuild2002.mdb, and it seems to work fine. I hope this helps anyone who has noticed this problem. Tom

Now that the BattleSet Builder has been released, and in anticipation of ever greater things for HCE, I've put together a new database that focuses on the First and Second World Wars. Hi guys, Just read some interesting tidbits about Chile's modernization of its Type 23 frigates. A NIPmail piece (August 2011) shows that in mid-2011 they contracted with BAE Systems for an update to the Tracker Type 911 surveillance radar and Thales Underwater Systems for the addition of their 2087 towed-array sonar. The radar tweak is nothing really significant, but from an ASW standpoint, the frigates didn't previously have a towed array. This would give them quite a capability update and expand their capability. This might be benefitial, from a scenario design perspective.
