  1. Started by Nighthawk,

When I attempt to enter the ID number for a weapon in the PE, I get the following error message: The error does not seem to have an immediate effect, but when the database is exported, aircraft will use the wrong weapons (but the correct number of those weapons). The loadouts appear fine in the PE, and this error appears both when editing an existing database or creating one from the blank database. Also, when an existing weapon from an existing database is edited, it will stop appearing. For example, editing the AIM-9X (ID 18490) in the HCDB will cause loadouts that previously used it to use the AIM-9L (ID 18489) instead. Does anyone know why this is occuring and how…

Some notes on Swedish airforce in the DB: Note that there where few things more secret than missile loadouts and missile guidance in Swedish armed forces. I know the original rb24 (AIM-9b) bought from the US where eventually upgraded to AIM-9P and Swedish defence industry messed around with fuzes too but have not found any dates. As the designation Rb74 where used for both AIM-9L and AIM-9M (or atleast in some official text) JA37 (1979-98) Should not be able to use AMRAAM, the Standard load out would been 2 Skyflash and 4 AIM-9J/P (Rb 24J) / AIM-9L(Rb 74) (two of each where common on photos) from 1987 add 2 Flare dispensers (BOY401) without losing othe…

Hi Gents, I would like to probe into the world of DB creation.. I know we already have several outstanding DBs from Brad and Rene available. But I would love to be able to understand what you clever folks have to go through in order to create such excellent quality DBs. I would like to start by building one specifically for the GIUK theatre of operations as that is the area im quite interested in, no two guesses as to why, or prizes for that matter lol Are there any guides available that I can get hold of? I am a complete moron when it comes to the PE and find it quite daunting so I wondered if there was any good reference material for such. Also when you …

  4. Started by TonyE,

This is in reply to Rene's thread: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=3259 HC has fourteen native loadout types. Each of those types may have unique uses and behaviors. Loadout type may influence what altitude the planes fly at by default. It may also dictate whether the AI turns on the active sensors upon launch. The loadout type also defines more core characteristics, whether it is an intercept loadout for air to air battles for instance. There is at this time no comprehensive list of the impact of each mission type but the name should give a good indication of the purpose. The loadout/mission types are: FERRY - For transit between landi…

Will changing the Type of a ship in the database (in this class INTL Sonya MCM was listed as FF in the database) have an effect on scenarios using that ship other than correctly identifying the type of ship? My concern is that scenarios that use the ship would change, perhaps not correctly including that ship or some other problem (instead of just correctly identifying it). As mentioned earlier, I am new to this, but I am working on adding all of the navies of the Americas as well as updating other fleets (names and omitted classes), at least to Jane's 2004-2005 standard (latest I have).

  6. Started by Akmatov,

First of all, I'd like to say thanks for the insane amount of work that has been put into this DB! Looking at the installation list I'm seeing every imaginable US military installation! Given that the period 1980 to 1990 has always been the time period I've considered likely for the Cold War to get out of hand, this DB is targeted for me. :) I have noticed that a lot of the aircraft, and possibly other platforms-I haven't checked, lack a value for a field, Runway in the case of a/c. I also notice that these aircraft are not available for assignment within ScenEdit unless you go into Platform Editor and fill in a value for Runway; ie once I put VLarge in the Runwa…

Chatting on IRC yesterday, I was told that the maximum number of installations is 2067. This leads me to wonder what the maximum number of installations is for the other categories might be. If it is listed somewhere, just point me in the right direction. Akmatov

Next step is the normal import process. You need to import one db after another. Now you have a folder that contains the datafiles for the dbs. All you need to do for future use is to jump between…

I am brand new to scenario and DB design (but not to Harpoon, boxed set in 90, comp version in 95) and have what may be a stupid question. How do you determine the RCS value of a ship? I am currently updating a database to include the fleets of the Americas, I finished most of the work on Cuba this morning. Hopefully one day soon I will be able to share the fleets that go with Tony E's battlesets of the area. Bob Andrepont Louisiana

I just downloaded the latest Database pdate HCDB 090128. When I went to the platform editor I could not find the new Ships listed. However when I went to the scenario editor They are there. I would like to know where the Virginia Block lll and the Bunker Hill (CM), and the Arliegh Burke Flight lla (CM) are located in the platform editor. Thank you -Tanthier

  11. Started by Warhorse64,

I've noticed that in the latest version of the HCDB, weapons based on the Mk 82 do more damage, and those based on the Mk 84 do significantly less, than in previous versions. I presume that this is based on a paper rules update, but what was the rationale? 'Enquiring minds want to know!'

File Name: HCBlankDB File Submitter: TonyE File Submitted: 09 Mar 2007 File Category: Databases A database from which to start your own database. Note: This database is provided as a framework for creating a new database from scratch. There are sample entries as needed for the PE, GE, and SE to function. The sample entries may be changed to suit your needs but they should not be deleted. The EC2003 and WestPac built-in scenarios will not work with this database. A sample scenario is included just to show that the blank DB doesn't crash the game. 2008/11/29 Filled in the list of loadout types for GE 2008.062+ as per http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?…

Some code that I changed years ago has been bothering me. At one point I limited the Damage Points of non-nuclear weapons to 999 DP. That has no functional merit in the code so I've gone back to the old limit of 30,000DP for a conventional weapon. So have fun DB editors, you can make bigger bombs again...

Hi Is the distancte to the Horizon a fixed Value in HCE? Or how is it calculated? I found Values around 10 to 20km depending on the high for the observer and a Ship on the Horizon. 20. Looking for data about japanese planes, I've find these pages (in japanese !!!), where we can read the actual name of the F-2 radar (J/APG-1, range 100 n.m. I guess in the text !) and his internal ECM suite (IEWS/AIBU ???): http://www2.odn.ne.jp/~flip-around/military-aircraft/f2.htm And this one, with names and uses of radar and other ECM and electronic systems of the japanese planes: http://homepage1.nifty.com/jagaimo/west_nest/s_jecs.html And some nice photoshopped pictures of hypotetical F-3?: http://www.hudong.com/wiki/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C...%96%97%E6%9C%BA
