I've set up some quick test games to try and do some minesweeping for a scenario I would like to do. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if it is just the quality of units I am using. I am trying to hunt with the Canadian Kingston class MCDV's (PG) and as mentioned in their notes, they have "limited minehunting capabilities". They are outfitted with some minehunting gear but I always hit the mine before being able to "attack" the mine. They don't have any sonar so I've located the mines with a Halifax class, but when I send the Kingston ships in they always hit the mines. Hi all, I've downloaded the demo (HCEDemo-2014.020.exe) and installed it successfully (i.e. w/out error messages) on XP 32bit, Win7 Ultimate 64bit and XP mode on Win7 64bit. in either setting, an attempt to start the programn leads to an error message indcating that no VCOMP120.DLL file was found. Checking the disk (dir /s C:\VCOMP120.dll in an adminstrator mode cmd shell) did not show any file of that name. How am I supposed to get hold of that file? TIA, Happy Easter & best regards Volker

I just downloaded the latest (2005b09c) version and installed it, and I'm having a problem with the platform Editor. I created a new surface platform and saved it. When I open any scenario in any of the EC2003 Battlesets, the platform appears under Platform Display/All Platforms. When I use the Scenario Editor in any of these Battlesets (or any Battleset for that matter), my unit doesn't appear under available units. Since I can see it under all units in any regular scenario, I know it's in there somewhere. What am I missing here? Thanx: Tom

OK, now I'm really shocked. I've just started the 10th scenario in EC2003 GIUK in my newly bought HCE and what do I find on my aircraft carrier? F-15s! and F-22s! Please, tell me, what's going on here? (And I'm pretty sure I've seen this thing in HC 2002 already.) And please allow me some well-justified irony: Should I expect B-2s launched from enemy aircraft carriers?

Why is the world so "flattened" in WestPac? If it were only for the aesthetical twist, I would have lived with it, but it seems to apply to game mechanics too - and in a random fashion! What I mean here is that some range circles are regular circles, and others are elliptical! It looks really funy, when you consider circles related to the same group. I won't laugh anymore, though, if it will turn out that my missile range is elliptical, while my enemy's is circular, and I won't be able to reach him, while he'll be doing just fine shooting at me!

I just reloaded HUCE then updated from reload to 2015.27 to 2018.002 to 2020.04. I still get AI aircraft running dry and crashing and if I do not keep tabs on my formation patrol aircraft they on occasion will still do this. I was wondering if virtual memory settings would help to remedy this as it seems to happen in scenarios in which large amounts units over whelm the ram. I am currently running 12GB ram. The scenarios do not freeze up so I think virtual memory is not the problem but thought I would check. I run the block 2 med scenario and planes and helos start dropping about 4 hours game time. Just purchased it again and thought I'd say Hello! Have it installed and just familiarizing myself again with the game and its changes. One question - Do I need to install the updates listed for the game or are they included in the new purchase install package? I started playing Harpoon way back in 89 or 90 I believe on my old Tandy 1000TX. However, I haven't played it in a very long time. I see in the scenarios area of the downloads many scenarios that are part of a series but there are only the last ones; for example in the WESTPAC the scenario FIGHT! Hi Folks, Apologies for the cross-posting - I put this up at the MatrixGames forum, it was getting a lot of hits but no replies. guess all the action is now with HUE. In any case... It's been a while - I finally upgraded to a Win64 machine, only to realize afterwards that I don't have XP Mode (Home "Premium" - what exactly is premium about it???). Anyways, I'd like to continue running the HCE editor - I saw the guides here on using XPMode that comes with Pro, Ultimate, etc. Can anyone confirm that VMLite will do the same thing? I've tweaked the most recent DB with the PE to include some differently armed LCS'. Then futzed around with the SE to create a small scenario based on the H4.1 scenario I had been gaming. The TG was attacked by a P-3F Orion and it's two C-801 missiles were defeated by ESSM. The Group then let loose on a group of 6 boghammers detected by a combination of RQ-8 and MH-60R's. Two boghammers surviced the harpoons, and we quickly dispatched by an armed RQ-8. First thoughts is that the RQ-8's are short-legged. Will reasearch further, but that';s my initial impression. Pete

I used various versions some years ago, finishing on Classic and W98. One of the problems was non re-sizable windows; ridiculously small on a large screen (1600x1200, or better). (Current hardware is twin core Athlon running XP.) So far as I can tell the main difference between the two versions is single user v multi-user. I expect mainly single user, but for the small price difference multi-user would be nice if there were no penalties or 'gotchas'. Is there any compelling reason to choose one or the other? Can old battlesets and scenarios be updated for use with either version?; or does one merely download new versions? Am I right in thinking that there…

Hello! Situation: I have an airfield where are present both ground (and air) attack aircraft and tankers aircraft. The target is over the attack group range so it needs the support of the tankers and this is my question: the tankers should be launched as a part of the attack group, or it better to to launch them before and to station them loitering in a convenient location and make the attack group joining, refueling and splitting from them? Does anyone have a freeware edition of WINZIP available? I d/l'd the trial of the new one thinking it was freeware and it is NOT (blast it all). I'm currently unemployed and can't afford the expense the new one costs on my family's tight budget at this time. I'd greatly appreciate help, so I can put out the rest of the BRICS campaign and other ideas I have.

I'm interested if people know the 'in reality' situation, can some aero-tankers accept fuel from other tankers and if so which ones? While harpoon doesn't do this, if it occurs in reality then I can add the function to an 'advanced' refuel control (via an exportDLL library) the catch being that I'll need to include data within the dll regarding what can be refuelled. I'm guessing the likes of super hornets in tanker loadout would be able to refuel from larger tankers and thus provide a further top up for an accompanied strike group without the large vulnerable tanker going into contested air space.
