    I understand that in HC, the water depth is determined by the further away it is from land, the more deep of the water is. I was looking at the red sea (middle east) for example, and I felt that the depth fall too quickly to the vdeep... Then I look at the depth around Great Britain also, I felt the same thing where the vdeep is a bit too close to the land.. Just curious on this, is there some consideration to change the calculation on depths--move it further from land? Not sure what everyone's thought on this is... maybe it's just me : )

    Greetings all. I had the Harpoon Classic for a long time, but loaded on 3.5 discs. A few have gone missing over time and the laptop I had the game installed on died. So I bought the CD-Rom for the game I found on eBay. What I noticed immediately, is that the game is missing all of the NACV scenarios. Is there any place to find the original scenarios? Thanks.

    In harpoon CE i cant engage hostile air units while they're in my engagement envelope.When i order a unit to attack air units within range i get the message "surface to air attacks air handled automatically " i never understood why this is not possible,sometimes red fighter planes fly really close to my ships and the ai never fires a shot!! Can someone exlpain this to me?

    Ive had alot of trouble detecting sams, and if i cant detect them i cant use SEAD strikes on them. Also i rarely see a plane avoid a missile, is there some tactics for using some ECM equipment? Or maybe the sams are inside bases or something?

    Hey Guys I've been playing the Harpoon 4.1 rules for a little over 12 months. I've just started looking at PC based harpoon type games. I know this is a Harpoon site, but i had a few questions. 1. Is harpoon the PC game more about large scale battles or running individual ships/subs? 2. Is Harpoon PC any good? 3. How does Silent Hunter PC game compare? 4. Can anyone comment on either game, preferences, strenghts or weaknesses?

    I'm old game player and access the forum as guest for some time. Recently created a log in, but never post. I'm from Brazil and love this game. Have some questions for you that are the specialist people: 1- Is there any possibility to increase AI difficulty? AI is too weak, not agressive, boring and predictable. 2- Is there any plan for 2 playes on HCE? 3- At this point of time, does it worth getting Harpoon 3 ANW? Or should I wait next version release?     Downloaded the demo and took a short look at it. It doesn't feel (or look) like an automatic fit. Think it will take some time to getting to understand how it all works and then how it will play. No doubt a lot different from the wargames I usually play (Combat Mission series by Battlefront). Haven't looked if there is a manual attached to the demo yet, so I don't yet know if I have to find out for myself how to command, steer, attack etc. or that there is additional info in the demo. But in the coming days I must be able to find some time to figure it out ! BTW, is the big difference between Harpoon CE and Harpoon 3 ASW the fact that the former looks a bit bett…

    I found a useful tanker trick that I haven't seen posted here I'd like to share. It comes in handy for real long range missions that takes a couple of refuels to make. Attach a couple of tankers to a F-15, send them out for the long range mission. Make sure your game time is running in real-time (1 second game-time equals 1 second game-time) for the next step. Select the group after takeoff and split 1 tanker from the group. When you are prompted to set a course for the new group, select yes then cancel the next menu item. Now go into the join menu and join this tanker to the other 2 aircraft. Later on, when you refuel, only one tanker will refuel your unit. If you…

    I have a question and am not sure if is a defect or not. I'm playing the IOPG2003 scenario 10. After start-up, I use the Formation editor to set-up my air patrols for all my units. With the carriers, I usually set up my range circles so that the outer 2 rings are AEW, EW, ASW, and fighter patrol's. After my aircraft get to their formation zones, I'll set my air and surface radars to mixed. I then turn on only the ASW and Picket rings and keep the AAW and Main radars off. I have noticed that after several minutes of game time, the ASW and Pickets radars will turn themselves either off or to intermittent. I'd like to know if this is supposed to happen, or if there is…

    Although I'm sure this info is lurking around somewhere right under my nose, it has defied my attempts to find it, soooo... Could someone kindly direct me to any "operating manuals" that exist and specifically address the "control options" that are available for the HCE, in particular, info about the available Hot Keys, Function Keys, and/or keyboard shortcuts, and their respective functions... as well as info about where to find any game controls or info displays that aren't obviously available via the basic menu options, etc. Also, although not as important, I am curious about what command line switches are available, and when they are needed.     I played Harpoon back in the good ol' DOS days in the 1990's and was thrilled to discover that it is still in development. I downloaded the demo for HCE and saw the GUIK scenario I used to play for hours. Well, I decided that that was enough for me and bought it. Bought it online, was sent my serial number, copied and pasted it in and . . . . nothing.     Please clarify gun mount ROF + PH + DP use. Situation Mount in Database: ROF = 6, Tubes =3, Rounds = 120 Weapon in Database: PH = 50%, DP = 18 Mount will fire once per 30 seconds and expend 3 rounds each time per my testing. Does the mount actually fire 3 times once every 30 secs....each with a 50% to hit and doing 18 DPs per barrel that hits? There is a distinct change in the behavior or characteristics of AI air groups and AA missiles between HCGold (and early versions of the HCE demo) and the more recent versions of the HCE Demo, and I'm trying to get my head around the reasons or rationale for all of this.     Since everyone is screwing Tony, I figured I could too. Why do AI planes head north when their base is destroyed instead of looking for alternate airfields? BTW, is there a way to make a base more resilient?

    Every month or so, I run into a situation where an AI air group is impervious to any manner of attack, and proceeds to walk right through my formation(s), wrecking havoc on everything in sight! This happens quite rarely, yet I've encountered it a number of times. Typically, the "super group" will appear to be a normal AI group, say a pair of Flankers. Other pairs of Flankers will have attacked (or approached) my formation(s), and have engaged in dogfights or intercepts in a typical manner, being downed or fended off with the occasional loss inflicted on my defenders.     Being new to Harpoon using armor as anything other than air targets, I promptly ran into trouble while trying to direct them to attack other ground targets... so, I'm wondering where I went wrong. Specifically what happened was that I had some groups consisting mainly of M1 tanks, and I was trying to attack an AI group of T-72 tanks. Each time I tried to order them to attack the T-72s, it would simply inform me that my range was 2nm, and the target group was, say, 9nm away.
