Can anyone suggest some good scenarios for download here on this site or that are in the game already? i use Larry Bond's Harpoon Commander's Edition. I recently have been into playing scenarios with aircraft carriers or a few airbases vs other carriers/airbases with minimal submarines. For example i really enjoyed Tom1_0 and Tom1_1 I downloaded from this site. Thank you for any help

Im a new guy on this forum so you'll indulge me if I didnt get this question in the right place. I download the Matrix Harpoon "package" last week. The download appeared to be okay but the setup executable failed to completely load any of the versions of the game. Folders were created and partially populated with files but none of the games would load. No luck with from Matrix help desk. Can anyone here help?

I'm going to ask even though I'm sure this should be in the 'Dumb Question' thread. I've recently been getting back in Harpoon and playing the HCE demo. Its addictive as I remember from back in the day. As the original Harpoon evolved has multiplayer online play ever been considered? I don't see any mention in the HCE description.

I've just started getting into the HCE demo. I've been fooling around with some of the WesPac scenarios and to accelerate the learning process I'd like to read some AARs. Can anyone point me to where I might find some please. I've looked in the Scenario Discussion Section but it seems to be mostly postings of new scenarios. Thanks!

Guys Recently bought the Ultimate edition. Played a "Splendid Little War" and destroyed all enemy installations and all their naval units. As far as I could tell both the French and Italian formations ended up where they needed to (although ships kept annoyingly running aground on the coastline!) but at the end of the scenario I got a "neither side met minimum victory conditions message"! I cannot launch the Commander's Edition scenario editor as I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 which apparently means I can't run it. So how can I ever find out what I ACTUALLY need to do to win a scenario? Regards Andy

Hi all - been quite a while since playing Harpoon - was surprised at the amount of activity here (though in some forums some posts seem very dated - thought the game died awhile back (or almost did?)) Happy to find it's still alive in some capacity. Question: I use a fairly decent Windows 7 laptop (64 bit, 8GB RAM)... which version(s) of current Harpoon game play nice on this platform... and what version of Harpoon do you folks recommend? Ideally, it'd be nice to download and play whatever version has a fairly decent loadout of platforms and scenarios, no? I wouldn't ask for the vetting responses if it were simply a $19 game... But I do want to play, and befo…

File Name: ExportDLL-TimeCompressUse.dll File Submitter: donaldseadog File Submitted: 07 Feb 2013 File Category: Tools/Mods/Docs This program runs in the background and when the Harpoon session is finished files TimeCompressUse.Ini & TimeCompressUse.txt are created in the main Harpooon folder (where the winharp32.exe file is located) or updated with information on the last five game sessions. The information being the file path/name of the scenario (for custom scenarios) or the battleset and scenario number (for built in scenarios), the date and time the session started, the duration of the session and the percentage of real time spent in each time compression …

If some enterprising player (I know you're out there!) wants to help out a little, I have a request. Play with the ballistic missiles in the HCDB. Try attack and defense. Particularly engagement geometries, ranges and altitudes. Try altering the altitude limits of defending missiles. See what happens. Discern patterns. Report back. That is all.

i apologize if this has already been asked, did a google search, nothing came up. why do my tankers refuel my fighters instantly? it is extremely frustrating and defeats the purpose of tankers. I'm guessing i might have accidentally turned on auto refueling? i tried hitting alt-r but problem still occurs. thanks

I was curious, how realistic is harpoon? I know its probably one of the most realistic war game out there but just how close is it to real life? I'm guessing the ASW techniques and formations are pretty dead on, but what about the actual combat? Like for example; Is it realistic to fire 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles all at the same time at one target because you know some will be shot down? Or in real life do they fire one or two per target then if they are shot down then fire more? (I understand SEAD operations would be carried out prior) Are SAM defenses really so effective? In HCE, they seem to do a pretty good job, but in real life it seems lik…

I saw a series of youtube videos where the uploader was running a simulator on H3 where both sides were computers. He was able to give each side a certain amount of planes and ships and then run the simulation and they would battle it out itself without the player controlling one side. Is there anything similar to this for HCE? I know it kinda defeats the purpose of the game if you don't even play but I think it'd be fun to setup each side and run the simulation and watch the battle unfold. And if there is nothing similar for HCE, does anyone know how he does it on H3? Any help would be great

I just want to say hello to all members, from a newly registered but old wargamer, and surprised at the good quality of some posts here. I'm returning to enjoy wargames thanks to HCE, and although I had a hard time, I finally managed to sink two Nanuchkas in exchange of only a merchant (North Countess) and I am really satisfied with my achievement so I want to spread it to the four winds . Here you can see a tense moment of action: I just want to thank TonyE for his help and availability, and say that I hope to participate in the forum as much as possible.

I finally tracked down a copy of Harpoon Classic (DOS) & installed it. However, Scenario Editor won't launch (error message: :Missing HARPOON Resource File(s)" I have uninstalled & re-installed several times now, but get the same error. The game itself runs great. Any thoughts?

While poking around seeking to become more familiar with the platforms I happened to notice something peculiar. The data for sensors of a single ship are different depending on how you view the data. I have HCDB-120621 loaded and I'm looking at the DDG-1000 Zumwalt. If I go (in-game with a one ship self-made scenario or in Scenario Editor): -> Unit Box or Group Box -> Click on the ship -> BLUE Surface Unit AA00 -> Display Button ->Unit Display - Range for the SQS-60 = 3.5 Passive & 7.0 Active or Reports->Platform Display Checking the SQS-60 values in the HCE Platform Editor, the values = 3.5 Passive & 7.0 Active. BUT - >…

Hi. It has been 15 years or so since I played Harpoon Classic. As I have not used a PC since then, I wanted to know what PC hardware/software I would need to run it. I think I remember that it runs in DOS, and I had it running on a Windows 95 machine. Does it run on later versions of Windows (98, ME or even 7?). I basically plan to buy an old, cheap PC so I can run the game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Question. At the moment I am quite happy with HCE running on build 2009.67. However, sooner or later I will move to something more modern than my 2004 Pentiun IV with XP. Given that I gather that the Scenario Editor I use does not work under 32 or 64 bit, when will we get a more modern stable version of the whole package? Thanks Emilio
