how exactly does does the keyhole sats work? i notice they randomly spot subs or carriers thousands of miles away sometimes. does the player have any control over them?

Unfortunately not. Something that is on the wish list.

Wondering for years about the implementation of some more realistic SOSUS with fixed subs platforms long range sonar-equipped, analogous to mines, but I've not enough data.

Also, SOSUS was a strategic sensor no linked to tactical commands.

I remember reading someting in the documentation about contacts being displayed as a result of data from Keyhole satellites. I believe it was in reference to the IOPG Battleset, but I can't recall the release. Am I mistaken, or is the source no longer used?
