  1. Thank you so much. Loved them all. Especially 'No More Mr Nice Guy'! Fighting off endless waves of fighters and bombers, using every last missile and gun ammo due to running out of fighters ready on the carrier, and all while attempting to launch some sort of counter strike. The first two hours literally kept me on the edge of my seat cursing that it takes an hour to refuel and rearm my fighters! Thanks away
  2. First off I want to say thank you for everyone who has created and uploaded amazing scenarios! I just got back into Harpoon after a few years and it is great to see people still active in supporting the community. Now for my question... Does anyone have any recommendations of scenarios with large numbers of aircraft, carrier battle groups, and bases? I enjoy having a mixture of each element in my games instead of scenarios that focus mainly on just one aspect. An example of scenarios I really enjoyed are F14 Fleet Defender and Red Line And thank you again for creating and maintaining a great community!

I understand that this question may not exactly have to do with Harpoon, but since this forum has been so helpful, I decided to ask. In what context where nuclear torpedoes used? Where they meant to detonate underwater near carrier task forces or meant for harbors and ports?
  4. I am working on creating a new scenario and was wondering, how does China group its surface ships? Do they have groups similar to US destroyer squadron? Or carrier battle groups? I understand they just commissioned their first carrier so they probably have not completely established their naval strategy, but with other surface ships, is there any methodology the PLAN uses? Thanks for any help, this site and forum has been such a blessing
  5. Oh also just want to add I prefer scenarios set in more modern times like late 80s till present or even future with F-14s, F-18s, and similar era
  6. Can anyone suggest some good scenarios for download here on this site or that are in the game already? i use Larry Bond's Harpoon Commander's Edition. I recently have been into playing scenarios with aircraft carriers or a few airbases vs other carriers/airbases with minimal submarines. For example i really enjoyed Tom1_0 and Tom1_1 I downloaded from this site. Thank you for any help
  7. How exactly do you use the platform editor? Is there a tutorial or website that explains it? I'm using Larry Bond's Harpoon: Commander's Edition on Windows 7, but have XP mode to use scenario editor
  8. In the scenario editor for H:CE, how do you make ballistic missiles? I've found some labeled TEL under ships unit type. Are these the only ballistic missiles you can create in the game? And what does TEL stand for anyways? I would like to play around with making ICBM silos or just ballistic missiles in general when making scenarios. Like I said I found a few, like scuds and a few other, but where are the Minutemen and such? Thanks for any help

how exactly does does the keyhole sats work? i notice they randomly spot subs or carriers thousands of miles away sometimes. does the player have any control over them?

ok for example, i launch 6 tankers with 6 strike aircraft to attack an airbase, they take off together and as soon as the strike aircrafts fuel goes from 100% to 99%, the tankers refuel them and a notification comes up saying they are done refueling and asks if i want them to break off and return to base

i apologize if this has already been asked, did a google search, nothing came up. why do my tankers refuel my fighters instantly? it is extremely frustrating and defeats the purpose of tankers. I'm guessing i might have accidentally turned on auto refueling? i tried hitting alt-r but problem still occurs. thanks

I wish I never learned this haha. Now every once in awhile, I cant stop myself from cheating and really quickly seeing where a couple enemy units are located ha
  15. I know your probably extremely busy already... but I'm really looking forward to more sections of Tatics 101, they are a huge help at really understanding the basics and concepts behind whats actually going on, and not just clicking a few buttons and achieving what you want, but not knowing why exactly

I was curious, how realistic is harpoon? I know its probably one of the most realistic war game out there but just how close is it to real life? I'm guessing the ASW techniques and formations are pretty dead on, but what about the actual combat? Like for example; Is it realistic to fire 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles all at the same time at one target because you know some will be shot down? Or in real life do they fire one or two per target then if they are shot down then fire more? (I understand SEAD operations would be carried out prior) Are SAM defenses really so effective? In HCE, they seem to do a pretty good job, but in real life it seems like they never work as well as the military claims Are air to air missiles really as effective? In HCE, it seems to hit their targets about 75% of the time no matter the angle of attack. Is this similar to real life results? I thought plane were able to sometimes out maneuver some missiles and also have countermeasures. Also in real life you have alot of mechanical failures the missiles will run into like failing to arm or even just loosing track. Because I feel like once I get inside the range of the enemies range, it's inevitable that at least one plane will go down. And let me know any other aspects you guys think that are different then real life combat. Thank you so much for your help, this site has been a gold mine for me!

I saw a series of youtube videos where the uploader was running a simulator on H3 where both sides were computers. He was able to give each side a certain amount of planes and ships and then run the simulation and they would battle it out itself without the player controlling one side. Is there anything similar to this for HCE? I know it kinda defeats the purpose of the game if you don't even play but I think it'd be fun to setup each side and run the simulation and watch the battle unfold. And if there is nothing similar for HCE, does anyone know how he does it on H3? Any help would be great

Is there any simple scenarios that you would recommend that does not have too much going on? Something thats small and easier to manage so I can learn and not be overwhelmed? Also how do I install scenarios that I download from this site? I do not see where to copy the file to anywhere in the HCE directory
