Harpoon Classic Chat - Discord
The two I focus on are the Old Pooners Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/143822619011193 and HarpGamer https://www.facebook.com/harpgamer which admittedly is a pretty weak effort, we can do better next time

I should be able to hop on for part of that. Care to post on Facebook groups that you'll be around to chat?

Tag-teaming with Europe seems like a good way to go imho.

Harpoon: Captain's Edition
Yay! A number of us have written modified rules for Captain's Edition over the years, mixing Red Banner in, etc. I think Captain's Edition drives a valuable pattern of thinking in game rule design. Captain's Edition isn't quite enough but with a few tweaks, one really can learn a lot about Modern Naval Warfare without the potentially off-putting depth of Harpoon 3, IV, V.

Harpoon Classic Chat - Discord
Yes, I'm hoping you might arrange a time that works for Europe, Australia, etc. Is that a possibility?

Loadout DATA
Drop tanks are in Annex_G1 and they are not dropped when empty.

Who does WWII scenarios?
The big gap for me is the perfect and instantaneous communications in HC followed by the relatively abstract weather model. There are much better simulation platforms for WWII though I'm a huge fan of someone pushing HC forward in the space. It'd be an awesome challenge on the guns front combining UI and new game logic but you've been there before ;).

Loadout DATA
torpedoes Annex_F and ASW missiles & depth charges Annex_E come to mind as items that I would want to affect DATA. Annex_G2 is ECM pods

Jammers cumulative
Two jammers are better than one for standoff and escort jamming but three are not better than two. More reading... Jamming & Throttle https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/12564-some-doubts/#comment-26166 Jamming & Spreadsheet (there is a spreadsheet to calculate ideal jamming case) https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/2574-jamming/page/3/#comment-10876 There is also an ECM log option "Winharp32.exe -l ecm" that will log a lot about jamming into your ge.log file.

Fuel consumption rate
The answer is yes donaldseadog, yes, the history is that the game began as NATO vs. USSR as you see in the original BattleSets, really up to EC2000. The prevailing attitude was that Soviet bloc engines were less efficient than Western designs. Do we want to make changes for EC2000 and newer BattleSets as a quick-fix? An option for a longer-term fix would be having a fuel burn rate as part of the speed/altitude matrix in the platform editor.

When assigning units to airfield or group I can only assign one unit.
Confirmed that it is b). I'm on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. When I select Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode for Wscenedt32.exe, I get the behavior you report. Nice find! Did you recall setting the compatibility mode? If not, what version of Windows are you running (in case there is something in one of the installers that is setting compatibility mode, but I don't think there is)? Thank you for sticking with this, the tenacity is what we need.

Fuel consumption rate
Very little. This tidbit comes up every few years and I had stumbled across the code in the aptly named ReduceAircraftEndurance function when looking for the terminal guidance range logic from @jugasa77's previous question.
-
Fuel consumption rate
You are going to love this one Loiter - Helos burn 1 second of fuel each second, 1:1. Aircraft burn 0.75 seconds of fuel each second 0.75:1. Cruise - 1:1 Military - Helos 1.1:1, Blue aircraft 2.5:1, Red & Green aircraft 3.2:1 Afterburner - Blue aircraft 12.5:1, Red & Green 17:1

Terminal guidance
Yes, I wouldn't bet on it being exactly that range (i.e. could be a second of travel closer to the target before entering terminal guidance) but your examples are on target.

Computer Wargame Championship…and the winner is….
Computer Harpoon continues to have something to offer. I keep coming back to the word 'fun'. Fun and educational/instructive.

When assigning units to airfield or group I can only assign one unit.
I apologize, I just cannot reproduce the inability to add more than one thing to another thing. From the list of possible platforms it looks like you are in Original GIUK or the original USNI BattleSet. I tried in both as well as a couple of other BattleSets. The only thing making me go hmm, is your comment about the x in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Just which x is that? Any more hints on reproducing? My steps: 1. Selected Eisenhower and clicked OK. 2. I am prompted for % chance of inclusion. I leave it at 100 and click OK 3. Eisenhower appears in the list of units that are part of the group (the only unit in this case). 4. Click Aircraft in the Unit Type listbox. 5. List of NATO Plane Classes populates. 6. I can add lots of plane units.

HCE Release Notes
HCE - 2022.006 - 2022-04-08 =========================== - Chg:00000 GE Incremented ExportDLL interface version to 32. - Chg:00000 GE ExportDLL added ScenLoaded call which notifies ExportDLLs when the game is ready to start running the clock. The pre-existing ScenLoad call is called before groups, units, and many other objects are loaded. ScenLoaded is called once when the internal mechanics are done. ScenLoaded is called a second time when all ExportDLLs have finished their own ScenLoaded calls. Word of caution, don't change any game state in the second ScenLoaded call to your ExportDLLs since that would defeat the purpose of the second call. - Chg:00000 GE Scenario format version 4 added the ability to save the group id in the scenario file but the GE has not read those group ids until this version. Implementing this change among many others, allows custom group id generation ExportDLLs to operate correctly when loading scenarios, not just saved games. - Chg:00000 GE Change ExportDLL calling convention from __stdcall to __cdecl. The intention was always __cdecl except the use of a FARPTR was overriding that. - Chg:00000 GE Tons of code improvement, null check additions, etc. Work spurred on by VS2022 static analysis tooling. - Chg:32081 GE Creating a formation patrol while holding down shift key for initial placement would include the Main Body ring, which should not be allowed. Fixed (thanks donaldseadog) https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/32081-game-freezes-if-bad-patrol-sector-made-in-group-formation-editor/

When assigning units to airfield or group I can only assign one unit.
Do you get prompted for the percent chance of inclusion? If you aren't, then I bet the problem is that the dialog is showing off-screen making it seem like the game it is frozen. If you aren't seeing the inclusion percentage dialog, close the SE and try the registry options resetter from

Thank you! I'll take a look tonight or tomorrow.

Loadout DATA
Note to self, combat3.c, GetUnitsATA and effect4.c, CheckAirMissileHits which is using. I thought there was a reason for that but am blanking on it currently. GetUnitsATA only uses the Loadout's DATA if the loadout has unexpended Annex_D (missile) or Annex_G1 (bomb) weapons. That is a strange restriction. What is a better rule?

Terminal guidance
For missiles against air targets it should be when less than 10 seconds from the target. Against other targets it should be when less than 30 seconds from the target. seeker_range = (missileSpeed * 30) / 3600; if (is_air(target) || is_missile(target)) then seeker_range = (missileSpeed * 10) / 3600;
