I noticed that some of the platforms in the HUD-4 still have no text information listed for them. It's simply a "Reach Station" mission. In ANW, of course, the scenario would be based not around finding the mines but protecting the minesweepers from other hostile forces. In some cases, against small boats, etc., they could defend themselves. In other cases, they may need a little help. ANW HUD-4 v1.11

CIV - Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_islands Every couple of years, a new small island is created somewhere in the world by volcanic activity. While such an island is usually just an inhospitable rock and is virtually worthless in and of itself, a nation that claimed it could use that claim to extend their territorial waters and EEZ. In other words, suddenly, anywhere in the world, we might have a new Spratly Island. Any you know what THAT might mean. I'm not sure how this would be modeled. For all practical purposes, it is just a geographic place marker. But facilities cannot be placed at sea. I suppose that one could just use the Type A Drilling Platform (100 meters, 90,000 tons, 1600 DP, and room for up to two medium helicopters), to model such a tiny island. If there was some way to use a different icon for it (e.g., the block one used for buildings) that would probably look nicer. And the text in the database entry would need to be changed, perhaps to "A very small island, newly created by volcanic activity." ANW HUD-4 v1.11

Recommended change to database text... "One of the many small patrol boat classes in service around the world, the Vosper 103-Foot Type has been exported to a number of countries, including Malaysia, Panama, and Qatar." This is simply a text change to increase the accuracy of the database. In fact, Malaysia (not Qatar) is the major user of this class, with over a dozen boats in service, although they're nearly 50 years old! A bit slow, but probably pretty good for keeping an eye on the neighbors or going after pirates or smugglers who do not have speed boats. As far as I know, there are no differences in the versions sold to various countries, although I understand some vessels only have machine guns rather than automatic cannon. In terms of playability, as far as Harpoon goes, I don't think there is much difference (maybe the range is slightly better with the 20 mm?)--they both do only 1 DP per hit; I suppose a second version of the platform could be added.
