A Crisis in the Gambia (1996)
- 120 downloads
My fifteenth scenario of 2013... It is 1996 and a civil war is raging in the Gambia. The E.U. is concerned that the rebels have committed war crimes and have decided to assist the Gambian government. They must destroy a bridge near the city of Banjul and take out rebel forces in and around the country's only airport. They also have to do this without blowing up any schools, or the American embassy, by accident. (This is another scenario where you need to take out ground targets with limited air assets, but don't forget you have some nice artillery on a couple of your ships.) File - BattleSet - Mark's H3 ANW Scenarios for the HUD
I would like to thank Ralf again for taking the trouble to do all this work. I would also like to say that, in all honesty, I don't consider these masterpieces. They represent my earliest attempts to put together scenarios for ANW and while I think they're mostly pretty good, I have to admit a few of them are a bit rough around the edges. I have a long way to go before I put out anything I'd consider a Harpoon masterpiece. But it seems like people are downloading the battleset (over 70 so far, it looks like) and I hope people are having fun!

More new buildings, etc. for database
I came up with a few more ideas that might be helpful for planning out victory conditions, etc. Most of these are simply potential targets, rendezvous points, "things you should not hit by accident," etc., I don't think they need to be planned out very elaborately. I would recommend simply copying the data for existing buildings (suggestions included) but adding a new entry with a changed name. BLDG – Medium Use BLDG – Leadership Compound Description: A generic medium building BLDG – Shop Use BLDG – Small Description: A small place of business BLDG – Store Use BLDG – Leadership Compound Description: A typical large store BLDG – Restaurant Use BLDG – Small Description: A typical small eatery BLDG – Nightclub Use BLDG – Leadership Compound Description: A typical club, dance hall, or casino BLDG – Clinic Use BLDG – Small Description: A doctor’s office or small hospital BLDG – Cemetery Use BLDG – Leadership Compound Description: A typical cemetery CIV – Wildlife Use CIV – Evacuees Description: Innocent creatures of the wild CIV – Herd Use CIV- Evacuees Description: Domesticated animals such as sheep or cattle CIV – Civilians Use CIV – Evacuees Description: A typical group of unarmed civilians (i.e., innocent bystanders) CIV – Protesters Use CIV- Evacuees Description: A group of unarmed civilians promoting a political cause ANW HUD-4 v1.11

My fourteenth scenario of 2013... In the near future, with a revolution erupting in Madagascar, the E.U. has decided to support the lawfully elected government of that country and assist them with their fight against the rebels. An E.U. task force led by the French amphibious assault ship Tonnerre must cripple the rebel forces currently using a town in eastern Madagascar as their stronghold. The name of their mission: Operation Western Lemur. Image: The French Command and Projection Ship Tonnerre (Source: Official Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Alicia R. Giron.) -

F-23 Black Widow [#]
A brief follow-up... I'm assuming the F-23 Black Widow would be as stealthy as the Raptor. I also wonder if there might not be a carrier-capable version, perhaps the F-24 Gray Ghost [#], effectively a "next generation Tomcat," designed as a fast, stealthy interceptor capable of clearing the skies so that the F/18Es can deliver precision munitions with less risk, and probably also capable of helping protect ships from incoming cruise missiles.

F-23 Black Widow [#]
F-23 Black Widow [#] Another "what if" platform...what if the Northrop YF-23 Black Widow was adopted instead of the F-22 Raptor (or if someone else, like Australia or Israel, had bought them)? F-29 Bobcat [#]
F-29 Bobcat [#] Fictional platform. A "what if" platform that assumes an aircraft based on the X-29 was purchased as a follow-up to the F-5, a light fighter similar to the F-16, and designed with export in mind. A fast and highly maneuverable aircraft, and small, making it agile and hard to hit, with a good sensor suite (similar to an F-16C) its primary drawback is limited payload (approx. 4,000 lbs. on four hardpoints). Even so, it makes a good complement to many air forces and might be widely exported, like the F-16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-29 http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=352 <-- use this one for range, approx. 1,500 miles ferry range, probably 500 mile combat radius ANW HUD-4 v1.11

My thirteenth scenario of 2013... In the near future, Pakistan and Iran have become increasingly friendly. There are reports that they are planning to attack one of the Gulf states. An American carrier battle group must move into position, gather intelligence, and discourage Iran and Pakistan from starting a war. But will the Eisenhower and escorts now become the targets?
