Here is a little additional information on the Bell 212... http://www.aviastar.org/helicopters_eng/bell_212.php So...does the military Bell 212 need its own entry (besides the ASW version)? Or is it the same helicopter as the UH-1N but some countries just call it by its original model name and number instead of using the UH-1N designation? And what about all the other variants? Are they different enough to need their own entries?
  2. Some more information on this one... "The Aérospatiale Gazelle is a five-seat helicopter, commonly used for light transport, scouting and light attack duties. It is powered by a single turbine engine and was the first helicopter to feature a fenestron tail instead of a conventional tail rotor. It was designed and manufactured in France by Sud Aviation, later Aérospatiale; the Gazelle has also been manufactured under licence by Westland Aircraft in the United Kingdom as the Westland Gazelle, by SOKO in Yugoslavia, and the Arab British Helicopter Company (ABHCO) in Egypt. The Gazelle has participated in numerous conflicts around the world and has been operated by a number of export customers." --Wikipedia Web sites with data... http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/stats.main?id=10 http://www.helis.com/database/model/201/ http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=93 (I'm not sure if the 341 and 342 models need separate entries or not.)

There appears to be a military version of the Bell 412, and it looks like several military forces have purchased or will purchase it. Here is some more information that lists how it is armed... http://www.aviastar.org/helicopters_eng/bell_412.php "Military 412: Announced by Bell June 1986; fitted with Lucas Aerospace chin turret and Honeywell Head Tracker helmet sight similar to that in AH-1S; turret carries 875 rounds, weighs 188kg and can be removed in under 30 minutes; firing arcs ±110° in azimuth, +15° and -45° in elevation; other armament includes twin dual FN Herstal 7.62mm gun pods, single FN Herstal 12.7mm pod, pods of seven or nineteen 70mm rockets, M240E1 pintle-mounted door guns, FN Herstal four-round 70mm rocket launcher and a 12.7mm gun or two Giat M621 20mm cannon pods." (from the above web site) Looks like it will need several different loadouts, but probably nothing too hard to set up in the database.

  5. Any news on this one? I was trying to put together a scenario involving the Mexicans vs. drug lords; the Mexicans use the Cessna 182 as a reconnaissance aircraft so I would like to include it.
  6. Any progress on this one? Some more information is here... http://www.harpoondatabases.com/Encyclopedia/Entry1058.aspx
  7. Was it added? I can't find it (although I may just have missed it somehow).

My 26th scenario of 2013... In the near future, a small American task force must take on a drug cartel operating out of Costa Rica. (This might be a good scenario for people getting used to Harpoon ANW...it is not hard to win as long as you are careful and don't take unnecessary risks. It is, I think, a good example of how Harpoon ANW does well with small scenarios and in modeling low intensity conflicts; I also had fun mapping out part of the Western coast of Costa Rica using online resources to identify where beach resorts, etc. were located). 9. Just a few more ideas (again, designed so they can be done simply, using existing platforms but adding new names so Victory Conditions can be set more easily)... 10. I tweaked a few of the tables again, added a few more options, corrected a couple of minor errors, etc. Enjoy!
  11. All right, I did a bit more research and I think my earlier request was in error. I also think some versions of the LCS may be armed more heavily than they are supposed to be. The LCS basically comes with the following as its “baseline” combat system… 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles And then it has these two open modules. I’m assuming that the “standard” versions of the Freedom-class and the Independence-class has the two 30 mm. guns (the “surface combat” modules) and the SURTASS version sacrifices those two guns in return for modules full of ELINT equipment and other sensors. For the two “fictional” versions of the LCS, it is assumed they receive additional weapons. For the (SCS) [#] version of the Freedom-class, I recommend keeping the sensors already listed for this platform but only adding two 30-mm. guns and two 15-missile Netfires CLU modules. It now looks like the version described in this video... For the MMC [#] version of the Independence-class, I recommend removing the 30-mm. guns, leaving the sensor package already provided, and adding only the two 30-mm. guns and 2 Mk 57 4-cell VLS systems, as per the FFGL 1 Evarts [#] platform. This gives it a flexible 8-cell cruise missile/torpedo mount. So we end up with... LCMS Oriole <-- fictional platform; leave as is or give it the same guns as the basic LCS Freedom LMCS Chickadee <-- fictional platform; leave as is or give it the same guns as the basic LCS Independence LCS Freedom 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 2x Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles LCS Freedom (SURTASS) 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles (sacrifices 30 mm. guns for extra sensors, etc. equipment in the modules) LCS Independence 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 2x Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles LCS Freedom (SCS) [#] 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles 2x Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm guns 2 x Netfires CLU (15) missile modules LCS Independence (MCM) [#] 1x BAE Systems Mk 110 57 mm gun, 400 rounds in turret and two ready service magazines with 240 rounds each.[8] 4x .50-cal machine guns 21x RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Surface-to-Air Missiles 2x Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm guns 2 x Mk 57 VLS (4-cell)
  12. A few minor issues with database text... (Sensor) TRS-3D/16 3D <-- this is, I think, a radar system, but is listed as a chaff decoy system in the descriptive text; I suspect this is incorrect (Ship) LCU 1646 (G) <-- Not sure the text is correct; I think this is simply an American LCU, although it may have been exported to Saudi Arabia; perhaps just use the text for the LCU 1610: “American class of landing craft utility vessels” (Ship) LCU 1646 <-- Not sure the text is correct; I think this is simply an American LCU, although it may have been exported to Saudi Arabia; perhaps just use the text for the LCU 1610: “American class of landing craft utility vessels” (Ship) LCU 2000 <-- Not sure the text is correct; I think this is simply an American LCU, although it may have been exported to Saudi Arabia; perhaps just use the text for the LCU 1610: “American class of landing craft utility vessels” (As far as I can tell, the Saudis do have four LCUs that are some version of the LCU 1646, but it is unclear if it is the regular one or the (G) one.)
  13. Minor correction for ALL of the LCS platforms... It looks like all of them should have, in addition to their currently listed weapons... 4 x 12.7 GPMG 2 x Mk46 30 mm. Bushmaster II The Independence-class has the four machine guns already, but not the two Bushmasters; the Freedom-class variants do not appear to have either yet. (Obviously, one would want not only the weapons added but magazines allowing re-loads, too.) ANW HUD-4 v1.2

My 25th scenario of the year... This scenario assumes that the brief war that took place between Egypt and Libya in 1977 has continued and that Italy has tried to broker a peace between these two nations. However, when Egypt begins preparing for a new offensive in 1980, Italy decides that further aggression against Libya is unacceptable and decides to intercept an Egyptian convoy carrying vital supplies to the occupied port of Tubruk... Nets could be laid around an individual ship at anchor, or around harbors or other anchorages. My 24th scenario of the year... A nice, basic Cold War scenario, set in 1980, in which West German forces must ambush a Soviet convoy headed for East Germany. It's one of those scenarios where, if you are careful, it is not too hard to win, but if you are not careful, it is very easy to lose.
