  1. Changes 28 January 2015: - Text updated. - Only CL HMS Ajax was equipped with the observation plane Fairey Seafox at time of the battle. CA HMS Exeter (aircrafts K8341 and K8343 of the 718th Flight) and CL HMNZS Achilles (aircraft K8585 of the 720th Flight, disembarked for maintenance previously to the battle) were equipped with Supermarine Walrus. The two Walruses of HMS Exeter were damaged by the third salvo of Graf Spee. Reference: "Nom de code Morse", magazine Avions, numbers 27 to 32, by Vincent Greciet. The original reference link with a detailed scheme of the battle (web page The Royal New Zealand Navy Battle of the River Plate, 13 December 1939) is: http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/tm/scholarly/WH2Navy-fig-WH2Nav03a.html
  2. A curious 1875 Brassey's article found casually about armoured and unarmoured warships. Only an historical curiosity: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Unarmoured_ships
  3. Scenario edited 17 January 2015, only cosmethic and very little text changes. - Bases names added in the scenario by the new utility.
  4. Scenario edited 18 July 2012: only minor text changes for sake of historical and intern coherence. Scenario edited 8 Augusto 2012: the original victory conditions were wrote only with theorical considerations. Now I've changed it to very more affordable victory conditions, considering both the game engine and the historical reality, if not, the English player can't win (before the corrections he should sunk a ahistorical high number of German submarines to win).
  5. Remember the F-35 engine dont fit on the cargo space of V-22!!!!!!
  6. Probably many of interest: https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games/v2
  7. More or less identified the terrorists: http://www.lepoint.fr/societe/en-direct-charlie-hebdo-que-sait-on-des-agresseurs-07-01-2015-1894739_23.php

  9. Oh, and of course a spin-off towards Larry Bond, The Dance of the Vampires and Harpoon!
  10. probably I will write a small academic paper the next months with the provisional title: "Techno-Thriller: from his origins to the reality check in 2001". Of course I will include Silver Tower, Old Dog, Clancy and Firefox :)
  11. In service in 7-missile launch pods with AH-1W, UH-1Y, MH-60S. In future service in MH-60R, AH-1Z, both iin 2015, F/A-18C/D in 2017-2018. Possibly in Australia's Tiger attack helicopter from 2015. Qualified for MQ-8B (2x3 pods) and probably MQ-8C (2x7 pods). Employed by Iraq from Bell 407 and Cessna Caravan. More details here: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/apkws-ii-hellfire-jr-hydra-rockets-enter-sdd-phase-02193/
  12. Israeli FFL Sa'ar V (Eilat) from May 2014 with: - Medium range Barak-8 SAM replacing short range Barak-1 SAM. - EL/M-2248 MF-STAR AESA radar, replacing the mainmast EL/M-2218S (removed), range=203 nm, PH=70 (four faces search and missile fire control radar, HF/SS/FC/Classification. About the range 135 nm for fighter size targets, probably 203 nm for airliner size targets). See on the 13/14 May 2014 entry: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/india-israel-introducing-mr-sam-03461/ http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htada/articles/20130807.aspx Also, in the original FFL Sa'ar V (Eilat) 2308 entry, the radar outfit should be modified to: - EL/M-2218S air search radar on the mainmast, HF, range=51? nm., or more probably range=145 nm, as in the very similar configuration DA.08 radar (replacing the current and probably erroneous very short range=15 nm EL/M-2228). http://www.areamilitar.net/DIRECTORIO/RAD.aspx?nn=69 - SPS-55. - Three EL/M-2221 STGR, fire control and short range search, estimated range=27, PH=60, AS/SS. Edit: EL/M-2258 ALPHA is a lightweight rotating antenna AESA radar fitted to Hetz (2013?), with a estimated range of 97 nm (120+ Km range against a fighter size target). http://www.iai.co.il/Sip_Storage//FILES/5/36845.pdf

  14. In the main menú, or going to the HCE folder and clicking on the pfBuild2005 file.
  15. mmmmm, probably the solution is simpler: - Open the HCE folder. - Go to the Wscenedt32 exe file and click on it.
  16. Very small update: - Lynx Mk4 (FN/89) replaced by time period correct Lynx Mk2 (FN/80). - Added base name BAN Nimes-Garons. - Light changes on ASW patrol formation. - Tag "Introductory Scenario" added. - Very light text changes.
  17. No problems on it. Just downloaded a few days ago by errour, thinking was a new version.

Sub Hunt off Faslane 2014. Historical scenario/Alternate history scenario. A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for the EC2003 Battle for GIUK Gap Battleset and the HCDB-140909 1980-2015 era Platform Database or the New Standard HCDB2-170611 1980-2025 era Platform Database. Image: Royal Air Force Sentinel R.1 visits the National Test Pilot School at Mojave, 29 October 2007. Photo by Alan Radecki. From Wikipedia Commons. This scenario is designed to be played from the Blue/NATO side or from the Red/Russian side. You should play a few times first the Blue/NATO side to avoid spoilers about force presence, and only later play the Red/Russian, but the victory conditions are probably difficult to get for an AI-controlled Blue side. After UK did retire all the Nimrod MR.2 ASW and maritime patrol aircrafts in 2010 (and his ill-fated projected replacement Nimrod MRA.4 in 2012), the island nation was hopeless without a credible defence even of his nearest sea lanes (we can add to these very erroneous decisions others recent ones, losing full weapon capabilities in others fields, as the air-launched Sea Eagle anti-ship missile in 2000, the Sea Harrier in 2006, the Harrier in 2009 and the anti-radar ALARM missile in December 2013). Few time later, in the event full year of 2014 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin (ex-KGB operative) was showing his plan to recover the Russian Empire and later Soviet territories for reinstitute the greatness of his Russia, and to guarantee his passage on the History as savior of the Rodina. After provoked from May 2014 the Crimea, Ukraine, Donetsk, Baltic States, Swedish submarine incursion, G-20 Brisbane meeting naval crisis, and constant and multiple overflies with military warplanes incidents, a less published but remarkable incident happened in the seas surrounding Scotland and the approaches to strategic British SSBN base of Faslane (HMNB Clyde). In late November 2014 the periscope of an unidentified submarine was perceived near to Faslane base, and UK was forced to request support of the Allied for get some ASW aircrafts, after the Nimrod debacle of 2010. Two American P-3C Orion (Of VP-4 "Skinny Dragons", based at NAS Sigonella, Sicily), two Canadian CP-140 Aurora, one French Atlantique 2, and one useless for the task British Sentinel R.1 (ASTOR) were deployed to RAF Kinloss in Scotland. The situation was not very covered by the media, probably because the temporal proximity of the October 2014 Swedish Submarine Incident, and because the incertitude of the situation. Enrique Mas, 18 December 2014.
