  1. The suspected F-4 has departed the area to the northeast and you lost radar contact with it about 20 minutes ago. You also lost contact with the helo. turn_1530_blue.txt turn_1530_blue_intl.txt
  2. At this time both the F-4 and the helo are refueled and are eligible for launch. Your surface fleet is getting close to the radar horizon. I will launch all aircraft and post a new turn file before the ships fire their missiles. turn_1530_red.txt turn_1530_red_intl.txt
  3. Getting a 404 error from that link.
  4. Hopefully, SiimPlot will ease the burden of a complex engagement by automating the movement process. This will be a good test for the program. Dylan, It looks like you want me to launch all 4 F-4s as soon as they are ready as a group. Any particular altitude and attack path?
  5. Your ships have begun their run towards the convoy. The helo is returning to Palang. I apologize for not realizing sooner that the helo did not have sufficient range to reach Bandar Bushehr. There are no changes to the convoy EMCON. I am pausing to hear from Dylan on the timing of the F-4 launches. As a reminder, the airborne F-4 will RTB at 1600. turn_1451_red.txt turn_1451_red_intl.txt
  6. The helo contact is moving away. There are no changes to other radar contacts or ESM bearings. turn_1451_blue.txt turn_1451_blue_intl.txt
  7. I hate to ask a silly question, but do you want to send the helo back to the ship or Bushehr? Also, do you guys have a time frame for the F-4 launches?

I am curious about using IRC for a paper rules game. If I understand correctly, it would be the equivalent of a "live game." I wonder if it is possible to play an IRC game using SimPlot. I would need a way of sending turn files to players, and receiving orders such that enemy players will not see them.
  9. The aircraft continue to maintain their distance. The helo was warned as directed, but has approached to 15 nm from the convoy. The helo has also climbed to Medium altitude. There are no emissions from the helo. turn_1430_blue.txt turn_1430_blue_intl.txt
  10. At 25 nm from the convoy the helo is warned not to approach any closer than 15 nm. The helo has reached 15 nm from the convoy and is at bingo fuel. turn_1430_red.txt turn_1430_red_intl.txt
  11. Given the year of the scenario, I think the Iranians are using the original version of the Harpoon missile, which has a 60 nm range iirc.
  12. I uploaded corrected turn files. Please download them again. The problem is that SimPlot does not update the ESM bearing lines unless they are displayed. I will have to fix that.
  13. I uploaded corrected turn files. Please download them again. The problem is that in SimPlot the ESM bearing lines do not get updated unless they are displayed. I will have to correct that.
  14. Looks like both sides are having trouble with the turn file. I will look at it when I come home from work tonight.
  15. I will look at the files when I get home from work tonight. The game advanced to 1412 due to standing orders on both sides. This way, the game will not drag on for months.
  16. The AB-204 Helo launched at 1336. It has reached the P-3 position and is tracking toward the convoy. There are no new air or surface contacts. The P-3 is detecting multiple radar emissions from two of the convoy ships. Please be aware that the Sitrep article lists the AB-212 which has a range of over 300 nm, but the High Tide Annex entry for the Italian AB-204 is only 150 nm. I believe you have an AB-204 for the Sumner ship. I think the F-4 will reach bingo fuel around 1600. That will give it sufficient range to get back to Shiraz AB. turn_1412_red.txt turn_1412_red_intl.txt
  17. The 3D radar has a new air contact. There are no changes to ESM readings. turn_1412_blue.txt turn_1412_blue_intl.txt
  18. So, convoy orders are all radars on and to maintain 16 kts at 290T until 12 nm from Saudi coast?
  19. The F-4 is keeping roughly 26 nm from the convoy. There are no air radar contacts. turn_1154_red.txt turn_1154_red_intl.txt
  20. Both air contacts appear to be keeping their distance from the convoy. Ladnyy is in position at .5 nm from the last merchant. turn_1154_blue.txt turn_1154_blue_intl.txt
  21. In the first radio challenge the P-3 identified itself as Iranian.
  22. Brad, I need clarification on your course. Right now all ships are heading 290T. Ladnyy is 090T at 1.4 nm from the last merchant. If you head 000T you will open the range with the formation, not get closer.
  23. I am leaving radar ducting out because I do not know how to display an ambiguous radar contact without creating and deleting units that would have different ID numbers but represent the same unit. It would definitely add confusion and workload. Is Ladnyy the only ship that will change course and speed?
  24. Unless some special detection rule is in effect, I believe that air search radars are capable of detecting individual aircraft. If there was more than one, that would have been noted in the unit description. I will modify the units to show something like 1x Small to show one "hard" contact to avoid confusion.
  25. The pilots of the P-3 and F-4 hear a request from the Soviet ships to identify and remain beyond 25nm from the convoy.
