  3. [spoiler ALERT] * * * * * * A fun subs only scenario that you can play at high time compression. As it turned out, only a handful of my submarines scored the majority of the kills. The US Navy Permit class nuke boat USS Jack claimed three enemy submarines, a Tango, a Victor I and a Charlie II. The British Oberons also performed valiantly, with HMS Orpheus scoring a Victor II and an Echo II mod. Class namesake HMS Oberon bagged a Foxtrot and a Victor III, while HMS Onslaught claimed a Victor I. Unfortunately, both the Sturgeon class fast attack boat USS Seahorse and Oberon were lost, both probably to the same threat deep in the Barents Sea. Never did find that enemy sub. Victory came with the eighth Russkie sub sunk. Thanks for putting this one together, Enrique.

  7. I suspect payload versatility (read SIGINT) and endurance are the major selling points, though I suspect side benefits for "allies" in having that kind of top shelf capability so close to the DPRK and PRC. Apparently the PRC is a tad unhappy about the whole idea.

Added #34 34. Better, smarter AI control of weapons allocation and release. To elaborate ... You will often notice that if the AI spots a single ship or one ship in a formation at a time, rather than a bunch or a group simultaneously, it will attempt to pummel that single target into oblivion. Usually by launching multiple salvoes of its most longest ranged weapons, one after another. A smarter AI, as far as weapons allocation and release goes, would perhaps ... 1. Wait a period of time to see if that single target turns into a group of targets 2. Fire only as many missiles are required to penetrate a target's defenses and destroy it. Perhaps weapons equal to 2-3 times the target's DP value, or some other similar approach. 3. Wait a further interval of time to see if its initial attack had any success, and if not, launch repeat attacks.

  12. LOL. Well, that explains it. I was looking solely at the Farncomb and didn't even realize that Rankin was attached to the group at Spratly. Probably in part because I was using that group solely in the air defense role, but mostly because I failed to look. My bad. Your intent for the scenario is probably perfectly fine.

Welcome to HarpGamer! The preferred tutorial these days will be found in the Westpac battleset. Beyond that, I would heartily recommend scenarios by Mark Gellis. They tend to be small and focused, and usually perfectly suited for someone learning the ropes. Check the Downloads section here.
  15. My Aussie sub was in Singapore, and had no hope of reaching the area in time to confront the Chinese.
  16. I definitely see some examples of bad arithmetic here, heh. No problem, will fix the issues and put out a new release within the week. Thanks for finding these errors. Yep, forgot to fill the field with the text description already created. Typo. This comes up frequently. From a Harpoon4/HT perspective, at least, two tubes have been converted to 9 man lockout chambers for swimmers and docks for ASDS and DDS. Six more tubes are unusable with ASDS carried or 8 with the DDS. A further 8 tubes can carry UUV or SOF equipment (2 weapons, 4 dry, 2 wet) or 7 Tomahawk each. The remaining 14 tubes then, can carry 7 Tomahawk each. Even in the pure strike role, then, an Ohio SSGN carries only 140 Tomahawks, not 154. With SOF and ASDS, considered standard, the missile load is 98. With two DDS, it drops to 56 Tomahawk. My intention was to have the 'standard', or mixed Tomahawk/SOF loadout. Even so, my math was bad, with one missile tube more than I should have had, leading to 105 instead of 98 Tomahawks. I've since fixed this and adjusted the SEAL team contingent upward. Fixed these. Bad math at play. Should be four Tomahawks per mount instead of eight. Fixed. Yep, but you have to adjust the torpedo load downward to accommodate the SOF (SEAL teams). Harpoon4/HT says you can carry 40 SOF troops vice all reload torpedoes or 27 SOF vice 8 reloads.
