Hi, I am a casual pc player (play once in two weeks or so) and have harpoon 3 v. 3.6.3 on my pc. I really enjoyed it. So, to contribute to further devlopment, I want to buy some newer version of harpoon. Do you think that buying ANW will be rational, since I am not sure if I will see some real improvements when I convert from 3.6.3 to ANW. Some even say that it would be one step backwards, because of the bugs. If that is the situation, I will purchase HCCE, but I am not sure if I want an operational naval game, instead of a tactical one. Any suggestions?

I was curious if anyone had thoughts about how to further promote ANW and the HUD-4 database? For example, does anyone have any recommendations of other sites where we could post our scenarios? I have no objection to posting my own in more than one place if it will increase the number of people who can enjoy them. However, most of the other Harpoon sites I know about do not look like they have been updated very recently. Is there anywhere else the HUD-4 itself should be posted? Thoughts? Ideas? Recommendations?

After designing my own scenerio with an Ohio class sub and starting the game (ANW V 3.10 HUD 3 DB) my sub turns blue and disappears. Some missiles after being fired also turn blue and vanish. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

A quick question... Using full realism, once you tell a submarine to go on a mission or plot a course, it submerges and you cannot communicate with it anymore. Is there a mission setting that tells submarines "when you reach point X, please come to periscope depth so you can receive further instructions" or are subs effectively out of your control for the duration of the scenario once you give them a mission? The recent discussion discussion about using the ANW makes me think other people might be having similar difficulties. Maybe it would make sense for both the HC and H3 forums to have FAQ and/or Support sub-forums where problems and solutions can be posted? The existing FAQ sub-forum could be kept where it is for truly general questions but individual threads could be moved (or copied...it does not hurt to have help repeated in more than one place) to the new sub-forums. I don't think it's mentioned often enough just what a great bunch of members we have in this group. A week or so ago, I upgraded to the Ultimate Edition, and completely lost the SE. Within a day, Tony had me back up and running again. This morning, I was attempting to do DB update in ANW, and bolluxed things up to the point I couldn't load a scenario. This time it Was Ralf who saved me from what I thought would be a complete reinstall. I heard back from him with a solution in less than 2 hours. I'm interested in comments from H3/ANW old hands regarding the different versions of the game that are in the ultimate edition relesae. One item that might be a hiderance to me is my RAM, 1/2 gig including onboard video. 3.6.3 seems to play more smoothly than ANW [3.10.1 update?] and it handles automated ASW work better (my observation open to user error). ANW certainly has a few nice extra bits but I'm looking for what will play the game best. Recent custom scenarios look far more interesting to me than the old built in ones (and I need up dated databases to run them but haven't yet managed to effect this in 3.6.3), how would this effect version choice? This happened several times with different scenarios, despite being the sub quite inside the range for the torpedoe when trying to launch one, it appears the message telling the target is out of range, I have attached a screenshot of "Break the Blockade" where the SSN Saphir is just 0,3 nm from a British ship, but no way to accomplish the attack It is the last version of H3 ANW Ult. Whe I played a scenario of the Falkland battleset similar situation was seen as a British SSN was less than 2 nm from an Argentinian DD and the same outcome. Any idea?

In a rather hectic moment I torpedoed a 'neutral' whale by mistake (it was a 'yellow' unidentified solid contact running from me at about 18 kts while I was 2 mile off his tail having been tracking him at 5 kts for about 20 mins). My version of Harpoon 3 ANW is 3.7.00. I downloaded and installed the collection of scenarios "complete_ANW_library.zip". When I start the program gets an error message, "annex version later than program version". So the first question I ask is: what is the version of Harpoon 3 ANW that this database (or library) wants? Not knowing the answer I tried to download the latest patch available I have found, the 3.11.1 (the file is called exactly "Harpoon3ANW-UpdateRelease-v3111.zip"). I did not find any indication of how to install this patch. So I tried to install it directly on my version 3.7.0, but does not work. So my second question is: what are the steps (step-by-step) t…

I've seen that ANW has a v3.11 update yet after using the check for update option the program says that I have the most up to date version which I still have 3.10. Been struggling with this for awhile so do relieve my frustration!

I've been trying to upload a scenerio for the community yet I get an error message stating that the file isn't allowed. Can someone tell me specifically how to put a scenerio up onto the site. Guys in v3.9 and above the KC-135 tankers that start at Clark AFB start with 0 fuel and therefore just crash on take-off? I assume this is a bug? Regards Andy

Just curious...is there any way to model a warning shot? I'm not sure how this would be set up, but is there a way to fire, but deliberately miss, and hopefully scare someone off? I can see some scenarios where you're trying to stay on station and being harassed and you do not know if the ship is a threat or not, but you do not want to sink it...just in case. Or is it assumed that you tried to do that already and now it's just clobbering time. Mark
