  1. Started by Nighthawk,

When I attempt to enter the ID number for a weapon in the PE, I get the following error message: The error does not seem to have an immediate effect, but when the database is exported, aircraft will use the wrong weapons (but the correct number of those weapons). The loadouts appear fine in the PE, and this error appears both when editing an existing database or creating one from the blank database. Also, when an existing weapon from an existing database is edited, it will stop appearing. For example, editing the AIM-9X (ID 18490) in the HCDB will cause loadouts that previously used it to use the AIM-9L (ID 18489) instead. Does anyone know why this is occuring and how…

I'm messing with various time period databases. I know the Radar Cross Section is a doubtful issue, stealth topic aside, but I see very great differences in RCS in WWII DB and the other DBs. As example, P-3 Orion and B-17 Superfortress are planes of very similar size, P-3 in ordinary DB as a RCS of 159, and in WWII DB we find: B-17 RCS=86, and B-29 RCS=88 (And all these planes are with propellors, I know a rotating propellor has a big RCS), Or in smaller planes, P-51 Mustang RCS=70, and the similar size A-37 Dragonfly RCS=137, and I see these are consistent differences between the DBs. Why these enormous differences ? Also, I don't know if it's a relationated is…

Chatting on IRC yesterday, I was told that the maximum number of installations is 2067. This leads me to wonder what the maximum number of installations is for the other categories might be. If it is listed somewhere, just point me in the right direction. Akmatov

Which are the estimated values of runway length for take-off and landing? Is this hypothesis correct? I will wellcome any values: STOL aircraft: 50 meters or lesser. Small aircraft: 51-500 meters. Medium aircraft: 501-1000 meters. Large aircraft: 1001-2000 meters. Very Large aircraft: 2001 meters or more.

  5. Working on developing my first battleset, which includes modifying the database to include current weapons, aircraft, etc. Pretty confident I am modeling aircraft, ships and subs consistent with the game rules/metrics. Also figured out how to manage mounts and weapons. However, struggling to find a good source for how to assign damage points to weapons, namely missiles. Found historical methods for calculating such as warhead weight x 0.2 = DP. Also found a NPS thesis (circa 2009) "A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF COMMERCIAL OFF-THE SHELF NAVAL SIMULATIONS AND CLASSIC OPERATIONS RESEARCH MODELS" that runs through various parameters and assumptions. Do recognize there are s…

Hi guys, after a "Very educational night" along Rook and HermanH, i'm thinking more and more about "specialized" databases, let's call them "thematics" databases, as they'll be intended to be exhaustive on a determined geographic area (Europe,Pacific,IO), timeline (Cold's war end '89-'91, Lebanon,...) or a fictional background (WWIII, United States of Europe,...). Why several databases rather than a big one? Because databases have their technical limitations and an only one database can't be exhaustive without being far bigger than actual limits allow. So, thematics DBs will alow to be exhaustive on platforms thanks to clear spatio-temporal limits. How can i (pl…

AFAIK, at this time, loadouts designed for HC are issued from H4 forms or designed by DB... designer. AFAIK again, there aren't fixed rules about designing, at least, about range and DATA determination. If AFAIDK, there are rulles, the following wouldn't be usefull at all, but, please, let me thrust that the time i took to design it isn't wasted for nothing. What i suggest it to determine fixed multipliers that will influence DATA and range based on real life values and H4 rules. So i took the "Performance effects for Turbofans and Turbojets at cruise" issued in the rules book and adapted it. Here is what it gives: % of Max Payload Carried | Range/DATA…

File Name: PfDatafiles for HC-xxtoxx-DB s File Submitter: divefreak File Submitted: 9 Feb 2009 File Updated: 16 Dec 2010 File Category: Databases Authors: René Haar Game Version: HCE Hi this selfextracting File contains the pfdatafiles nescessary to import my HC Databases. simply extract it into you HCE Folder and link the pe to the file with the browse function of the pe. the Rar-File will create a Folder named DB and one subfolder for each db! Next step is the normal import process. You need to import one db after another. Now you have a folder that contains the datafiles for the dbs. All you need to do for future use is to jump between…

I've been using these in the belly of F35s against ships with devastating results. They seem like cheating. One thing I quickly noticed was that you can launch them at the max range from any altitude, the limited data I could find specified that the range is significantly reduced when lunched from lower altitudes (as expected). Maybe some twweeking of database would be good now this sort of weapon is getting significant range (~60nm), or is it a game engine thing? Its so long since I looked at databases I can't remember if range against launch height can be specified, or is it a 'simulation thing' where the aircraft quickly climbs, releases weapon then descends so is eff…

What is exactly "area" ECM? because, AFAIK, Type-D, FLIR and Laser (Sub-Type) pods aren't functionnal at all. In fact, what is a "Type-D" pod? About "sensor flags" in the aircraft annex, FLIR allow to detect ships but not planes and IRST detect aircrafts not ships, isn't the opposed IRL? Thx, Jan

  12. Started by Steven M,

I set up two new bases in the PE for HCE. EC2003 MED battleset. Both are "RED" Syrian airfields Both are inputted copies of airfields I did in 2002db (where they worked). Longitude and Latitude worked in 2002 version which uses the same map as the HCE version (I assume). Both id #s are in numerical sequence. ID: 53248 and 53249. Prior installation was 53247. The DB was exported as usual. Both DO NOT show up in the Scenario Editor. I've removed and re-entered the bases with the same result. They are logged into the PE but not the SE ?????? Thanks, Steve M

Access the "DB Share" navigation button, at HarpGamer.com While it still has a single active link to the current HCDB commondb.res (in .zip format), the new section includes reserved slots for future efforts from the members of this group. There are also instructions on what to do if you have a db you'd like to share with the community, so have a look, and if you need the current HCDB, please grab it there.

Greetings, Is there any chance the naval inventories of smaller forces can be added to the HUCE database? These forces would help to fleshout the South America, Sub-Saharan Africa and the smaller forces in the GUIK and WestPac battlesets. Adding these smaller units would make generating a broader range of scenarios possible. If numbers and names need to be plugged into an Excel spreadsheet to be incorporated into the DB, send me a template of the Excel workbook and I'b be more than happy to plug int the numbers and text to help the community in developing a better gaming experience. Best regards!

  16. Modified MiG-31BM variant able to carry the hypersonic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ALBM. Ten aircraft were modified by May 2018.[84] With this modification and with removed APU for air-to-air missiles, the aircraft gained a sole role of an attack aircraft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan_MiG-31 View full record

As important as updated avionics are in the age of modern warfare, the centerpiece of the Tu-22M3M upgrade package is the inclusion of up to three new Kh-32 missiles. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/meet-russias-new-tu-22m3m-bomber-nasty-surprise-us-navy-61252 View full record

There will be many versions of one of my favorite planes, the F-14, and my favorite ships, Iowa class Battleships. Please post to the HCStrikerFictDB Requests thread on the HarpGamer forums with suggestions. *NOTE - The EC2003 & WestPac battleset scenarios will not work with this database, only scenarios written for this database will function. Japanese site (in simulated/automatic translator English!) with details of the Kawasaki P-1 (radar, sonobuoy processor, illustrated with 8xASM-1E, etc ... Is the only site where I've finded the approximative wing area), and some notes of humour with the P-1 speculative variants painted in RAF or Japanese 1942 styles: http://www.heinkel.jp/yspack/ysf_p1_eng.html The text says the HPS-106 is very similar to the modelled APY-10. Other Japanese projects: http://www.heinkel.jp/yspack/yspack_eng.html Including details about rare Japanese weapons, as modern deep charges: http://www.heinkel.jp/yspack/ysf_weapons_eng.html
