Has anyone played or written a scenario where nuke release should occur but sometimes doesn't even though it's in the scenario when viewed in the se and the game has been started with nuke release enabled. It seems random, sometimes it's triggered sometimes it seems not. It's just a feeling I have at the moment, ive been intrigued by a comment in Wikipedia re the second taiwan crisis stating that if it had escalated the usa was prepared to use nukes, so of course ive written them into some scenarios but they don't always seem to trigger. I'm currently using the last matrix patch game and scen edit 2022.027 for this scenario for widest distribution.

Here are some rambling observation from toying around with the SE. Is the ALQ-164 ECM Pod found on the AV-8B II+ supposed to give relatively long ranged jamming support? I will double check tonight actual distances, but it was in fact “jamming” enemy radars. I had a neutral EW Su-24MR flying in a patrol status directly above a neutral Jask Iran. The Su jammed everybody, and Blue had no opportunity to suppress it. Mines were easily detected, engaged, and destroyed. Should mines be successfully engaged by helo launched torpedoes and/or surface ship anti-sub stand-off weaponry? Is their a way to tweak them so that it would require more specialized detection a…

Very sorry to all those who downloaded my Australia battleset file and found it was broken. A small clerical error (honestly) embedded the wrong database). I've uploaded what should be right (I thought the original was right so I still have fingers crossed) and I hope a few of you have fun with it. ps Long live the F-111!! Hello, I am testing an user scenario called Operation Gauntlet. I have some questions. First, what is the difference between fighter, attack and bomber for the AI. AI have 24 attack F-16AM with a initial loadout of intercept duty. When AEW detect my red fleet some attack planes reload their loadout and attack my ships instead of continue with the intercept loadout. Why? I think this is based on the type of aircraft. I suppose that AI uses its planes depending on the type: fighters always fights against aircraft and bombers fights against ships or bases. Attack planes fights with both: planes and ships or bases. Am I correct? I suppose that fighters don't change their…

Has anyone ever created a scenario based upon or replicating Operation Pedestal? I ask because I've just read Max Hastings latest work regarding the battle and it struck me that the story would make an excellent subject for Harpoon - lots of potential 'what ifs' available on both sides. I've had a quick look through the User Scenario database but didn't spot anything but if anyone knows better - and I'm sure someone does - I'd be grateful to be pointed in the right direction. Many thanks.

29th Scenario posted this year! Mark Gellis has posted another challenging scenario. Thanks for sharing your work with the community. Operation Spanish Fury - BAT10D2 - EC2003 MEDC A few years in the future... Revolutions in Algeria, Libya, and Egypt have left these countries in the grip of radical Islamic governments that are hostile to the United States and the European Union. In recent months, there have been a number of terrorist attacks in Spain. While the Algerian government is not directly responsible for these attacks, they have fostered an atmosphere of hatred against the E.U. and they have done nothing to prevent terrorists from organizing a…

When I open the GE and load the user scenario playing the Blue Side the Background and Blue orders are displayed. The scenario I created is supposed to be played by the Red side. When I open the GE and load the user scenario playing the Red side the Background and Red orders are not supplied. I have tried with the HC Launcher and without using the HC launcher. To look at the orders for this scenario you will need to import HCEEFDB-151115, which is included in the zip files. There is a word doc included with what the orders should be when the scenario opens in the GE. Has anyone had this issue. I tried another computer with the same results. Spratly Island Ord…

I am creating a new scenario for the Caribbean. To make the scenario really work I need to provide some intel to each side at a point several days into the events. Is their any way to have the staff come in and announce anything? Seems like if the ability to launchg a strike or recon asset at some time point exists, maybe the ability to provide intel at a time point would be easy also? RAS

During the Cold War, the Baltic Sea was the "playground" of maritime reconnaissance and electronic surveillance assets of both NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Both sides employed their assets to continuously monitor each other's activities. The West German Naval Air Arm's Atlantic maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) of Marinefliegergeschwader 3 (MFG3) "Graf Zeppelin", based at Nordholz, flew continuous patrols over the Baltic Sea and Danish approaches to monitor the buildup of Soviet naval forces which would have to transit through these waters to reach the North Atlantic. The area was vital to NATO's overall defence strategy, which depended on countering any offensive brought by Wa…

Greetings, I'm attempting to build my first scenario (GCC without the US v. Iran) and I'd like to include a Qatar based AN/TPY-2 radar set. The only unit that I know in the game which possesses this particular set is the INTL SAM THAAD BTY, which unfortunately includes the launchers and a large complement of interceptors (since I'd like it to only be for surveillance, missiles are a hassle). So on to my questions. In order to strip the launchers (and the avenger platoon also) do I need to use the platform editor? Can I change missile counts there as well? I can't yet open the platform editor, apparently I need an update or patch. I tried downloading the c…

A friendly reminder that it is appreciated (and polite!) when you offer feedback to a scenario author when you reap the fruits of his hard work in offering up a scenario for your enjoyment. It doesn't have to be a full-fledged after action report (AAR) but a few comments about your experience can be very helpful to the scenario author, whether experienced or new to writing scenarios for Harpoon.

Does the stock Db have DF26 or similar IRBMs? I haven't seen any listed and there is a Missile site in the bases menu. Thanks, Byron

Predator or Prey A new HCCE scenario for the Westpac Battleset (RED side) Having taken responsibility for its own defence, and in the face of increased dialogue and openness on the part of the North, the Republic of Korea has tacitly encouraged the departure of US troops on the Korean Peninsula. Responsibilities elsewhere have accelerated this redeployment and reshaped the American presence from a military force into a wholly diplomatic delegation. An end to the decades old stand-off between the two Koreas appears imminent, and yet something is not quite right about this new atmosphere of peace and reunification. Key anti-Communist legislation was recently dismantled…

Warning...some spoilers.... I tried this out a few times and have failed every time. Usually not utter and embarrassing failure, but failure nonetheless. I have figured out one way to kill the ammo depot. I launch my F-4s at once, fly them in Very Low and can usually blast the depot and get the hell out of dodge before the SAMs kill me. Around this time, I've started to shuttle a fair number of aircraft to Naha. And, around this time, a large number of Red aircraft are on their way to Japan, mostly trying to kill one of my SAGs. And there seems to be about a dozen aircraft, probably launched from the Chinese base on the Senkaku islands, that show up at N…

Qian Kong Kuai: a new scenario for the Westpac theater "The Senkaku/Diaoyu islands comprise small volcanic islands and three rocky outcrops at the eastern edge of the East China Sea. The dispute between China and Japan over their sovereignty goes back 500 years, and with the potential of huge offshore oil and gas reserves in the region, shows no sign of resolution. Now China has begun to exploit the resource, and Japan has responded in kind. Now that the Taiwan and Korea questions have been answered, China feels daring enough to enforce its claim on the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands. Once again, competing economic interests in dangerous proximity result in military action." …

Hey, I was just about to dive in and revise this old classic when I found myself wondering if anyone through the years had already done so. The problem with this scenario (as reiterated by the AAR I ran across in my search) is that, with the new sonar modeling, subs are much harder to detect. That, plus those 54nm-range wake homing torps, makes it nearly impossible for the CVBG to escape US territorial waters without losing the majority of its ships (including the CVN). Anyway, once I'm done I'll be sure to post it up here. My goal is to go back and revise all the original Cold War Gone Hot scenarios from the GIUK and NACV battlesets. I have really fond memories…

First off I want to say thank you for everyone who has created and uploaded amazing scenarios! I just got back into Harpoon after a few years and it is great to see people still active in supporting the community. Now for my question... Does anyone have any recommendations of scenarios with large numbers of aircraft, carrier battle groups, and bases? I enjoy having a mixture of each element in my games instead of scenarios that focus mainly on just one aspect. An example of scenarios I really enjoyed are F14 Fleet Defender and Red Line And thank you again for creating and maintaining a great community!
