Hello all. I work (worked) in the performing arts here in Colorado, so I now have lots of free time. I'll have time to do a scenario or two if you would like. I'm looking for suggestions, so let me know if there's one you have always wanted and I'll put one together for you.

I just started playing Harpoon again after many, many years. This scenario seems to be much harder than I remember. When I used to play it, I could reach 10 subs easily. Now I struggle to get 3. It seems like every time a sub is detected by SOSUS, by the time one of my picket planes get there it has disappeared. And my sub pickets never pick up anything even if I put them basically side by side in the gaps. What am I missing here? What is going on?

AAR: Black Valour A scenario by Mark Gellis Romania was unhappy with Turkey, and its big brother, Ukraine, had promised to show up on the playground if there was any trouble. This time, the playground was the Black Sea. Realizing that a large portion of my front line TuAF fighters (F-16 and F-4) were sitting on the tarmac with no weapons loaded, I immediately set about arming them for air-to-air and suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) missions respectively. The ex Perry class frigate Gediz and a pair of FPB57 fast attack craft were patrolling in the western Black Sea, but I did not want to reveal their positions just yet by energizing their radars. Rathe…

Its territorial ambitions and aggressive land reclamation policies in the region have long aggravated and alarmed its neighbours in Southeast Asia, but the events of the past two weeks have been deeply disconcertin…

  7. Hey, I was just about to dive in and revise this old classic when I found myself wondering if anyone through the years had already done so. The problem with this scenario (as reiterated by the AAR I ran across in my search) is that, with the new sonar modeling, subs are much harder to detect. That, plus those 54nm-range wake homing torps, makes it nearly impossible for the CVBG to escape US territorial waters without losing the majority of its ships (including the CVN). Anyway, once I'm done I'll be sure to post it up here. My goal is to go back and revise all the original Cold War Gone Hot scenarios from the GIUK and NACV battlesets. I have really fond memories…

  10. View File Drone Defense of Lima IMPORTANT This scenario is meant to be run with the accompanying file Drone.DLL installed in the harpoon ExportDLL (or ExportDLL\GE) folder and requires vers HC2025.006 or newer and database HCDB2. This library file edits certain platforms' data so as to simulate high speed surface drone swarm(5 Drones), high speed semi submerged drone swarm (5) and Malay CB90 attack boats. It also starts of one ship with damaged ssm mounts. The scenario is a demonstration of how recent changes to HUCE will allow an author writing scenarios for the Harpoon community to be able to customise platforms from simple aspects…

  11. I played this scenario as RED (Russia) You are given command of 5 submarine groups operating in the North Sea. Your task is to kill the UK carrier Queen Elizabeth as well as any escorts, that may be escorting her. You have a few ASW and recon assets in Kola Airfields, but no strike aircraft. I started off by checking bearings and speed of my submarines. They all made sense, so I left them untouched, with the exception of lowering speed on a couple of groups to make detection by the British harder. A few aircraft were launched from the Kola airfields. I then accelerated the game, since I didn't expect much to happen. The first report came in from the di…

  12. I was bored tonight, so I went through the HDS3 battleset orders, looking at the dates on the orders. Not sure if it's of any value to anyone else, but, here's what I found if you wanted to play these in chronological order by date. This might be an interesting WWIII set to convert to HCDB and newer GE. At least one, maybe two of the scenarios would have to be basically made up from the orders, because they load copies of other scenarios, rather than what is supposed to be there. I know 'Three Days at Mannar" in HDSC is like this. Might also be interesting to think up a matching set of events for the parts of the world HCE couldn't cover back then, like South Afr…

Very vivid scenario. SPOILER ALERTS Apparently total victory achieved remaining 3:41:58, after three airfields (I think they are three airfields, one destroyed target is yet confuse) and 28 fighters destroyed by SSGN-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles, and Nodong Base ZVb damaged at 47% after the first B-2 strike (are other three B-2 arriving, and I employed the scenario original JDAM loadouts). U-2S shoot down at start by SA-5 Gammon. Iwakuni damaged at 8% by multiple North Korean missile impacts (perhaps some 24 missiles received). Fun and fast scenario.

  17. I played this scenario commanding the BLUE side. You get an interesting mix of assets here. One carrier battle group with a heavy Tomahawk arsenal, a couple of SSNs and few, but yet formidable aircraft dispersed at 3 bases in Japan. Like I already noted in the other thread, the lack of strike assets on the blue side is one issue. Of course the orders you get are to "just" sink the chinese carrier and not annihilate every single chinese unit/base on the map... :-) I launched several air patrols out my bases in Japan and carrier battle group (CVBG). The CVBG is stationed a bit off the area of conflict, so the F/A-18Es with their long range are excellent for the ta…

I was designing a scenario and trying to get the sensors on the ships to be active at the start of the scenario. I entered the sensor command at waypoint #0 in the course editor, but when I start up the scenario all the sensors on the home players ships are turned off. Is this normal or did I not do the right procedure to start both sides with sensors active. The base sensors are on only the home ship sensors start in the off position. Thanks, Steve

In a scenario exist the blue airbase Aa (human player) and the red airbase Za (AI). From the red airbase Za shall takeoff air groups to attack the blue airbase Aa from south, east, west and north and this automatic repeatable every four hours. Now the simple question: How is this scenario to generate with the scenario editor? It seems in the scenario editor are only direct bearing attacks possible.
