Why is the world so "flattened" in WestPac? If it were only for the aesthetical twist, I would have lived with it, but it seems to apply to game mechanics too - and in a random fashion! What I mean here is that some range circles are regular circles, and others are elliptical! It looks really funy, when you consider circles related to the same group. I won't laugh anymore, though, if it will turn out that my missile range is elliptical, while my enemy's is circular, and I won't be able to reach him, while he'll be doing just fine shooting at me!

Just purchased it again and thought I'd say Hello! Have it installed and just familiarizing myself again with the game and its changes. One question - Do I need to install the updates listed for the game or are they included in the new purchase install package? I started playing Harpoon way back in 89 or 90 I believe on my old Tandy 1000TX. However, I haven't played it in a very long time. Hi All, So I'm coming off what is for me a fairly successful run, the GIUK Convoy scenario. I have 8 merchant ships still alive, and have managed to sink a couple submarines as well as a surface group. Granted, firing a harpoon at a ship you can see visually is probably not a great idea. I was wondering if it might be any use sending my save game or message log to somebody to review how I'm doing. I'm not sure if it would be practical, I don't know how much state information the save format preserves. I've made observations in the other thread, and I don't have much to add to them just now. Hey I've been playing more Harpoon again and I've been running into some troubles in my Win10 installation. Specifically I've noted crashes of the game in the following situations: F8 (split groups) F7 (join groups) Opening "Order of Battle" Are there any issues you are aware of? Could it be a problem of database compatibility when playing older games with a patched up version of Harpoon? I am using HUCE 2015.027. Would you recommend running the game in some kind of compatibility mode when operating in Win10? Thank you, Alex

I'm returning to enjoy wargames thanks to HCE, and although I had a hard time, I finally managed to sink two Nanuchkas in exchange of only a merchant (North Countess) and I am really satisfied with my achievement so I want to spread it to the four winds . I recently downloaded HC2015.028SE to get access to the Scenario Editor in Windows & (64 bit). I would like to stop using the old editor in virtual XP. The editor that I downloaded seems to work fine with a couple of exceptions. 1. When I select ships or planes and use "DISPLAY" in the selection window, a box with a picture and text comes up. However, when I select "Weapons" the resulting box has internal windows which are too narrow. The damage is outside the right edge of the lower box and the ranges of some aircraft are truncated. 2. Hi first post. I had the urge to try HCE again after a long hiatus so logged into my Matrix account and download the two files (install & patch) but there seems to be a file size error in the downloaded files. I have the orginal HCE cd but I dont have a cdrom drive in a pc near me. Have I done something wrong?

I saw a few years ago (and because a comment in the CMANO forum I recall it now) SSQ-77C (as passive omnidirectional sonobuoy) is stated on the manufacturer PDF as "convergence zone receive beam" capable. And probably should be more CZ capable sonobuoys. I think we should implement that capability on SSQ-77 and probably other sonobuoys. I see also VLAD states for Vertical-line Array DIFAR (a pity, it's not Vlad Tepes related! [ ] ) (I think also that capability should be one of the USSR demise causes, showing the Soviets the futility of his submarine force). Is it just me or did the forum's flash editor loose a feature recently, like since April? I'm pretty certain that earlier in reply posts I was able to split quoted text into separate paragraphs just by hitting enter on an empty row inside the quote. E.g. Now all I can do (if I want to reply in a nice formatted way) is copy the entire quote as many times as many comments I want to inject and delete the surplus parts of the quote from each segment. Hello Everyone, I'm an old GDW Harpoon miniatures gamer who made the jump to HCE. I have cleanly upgraded to the .044 version and it's working with all default scenarios. My problem is that I've downloaded a couple of Westpac scenarios here (like Sprat in the Spratleys) but I can't get them to load properly. What I did is I created a subdirectory inside the \Matrix Games\HCE\ folder and unzipped all the files there. I immediately noticed that Load User Scenario is looking for files that match a .sc? filter. Overriding the filter and forcing the file load results in a GE crash. I'd like to play the scenarios which come with HUCE. So there is one DB I shall download for an update? Matrix just released the HUCE 2015.027 patch (yay!). A side-effect is that it is not currently possible to bring HCE up to the current beta version. This may change in the future as more components are updated again. A method of updating HCE (Harpoon Commander's Edition) to the current Beta versions. Note, this is not for HUCE (Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition). For HUCE, download and install the 2009.097 patch from Matrix Games, then install any Beta versions on top of that. 1. Pay 40 now for HCE or pay 75ish for ultimate and get ANW too? I suppose it kind of comes down to what is available for this game now and what future development is likely? To me HCE does not strike me as a high priority for the publisher to add too many new things to. So is the current version of the game compatible with many databases and scenarios?
