Hi I'm really happy to find this forum.Just bought this game and it's great. And I think this game is even older than me.🙂It's difficult but fun to learn.

I've done it once before but can't remember how to make a helo with a ASW loadout automatically deploy its sonar bouy's. Their is some type of alt/speed/hdg pattern that you use when inputing the helo's path. Can anyone help? Thanks, Steve

Hi. It has been 15 years or so since I played Harpoon Classic. As I have not used a PC since then, I wanted to know what PC hardware/software I would need to run it. I think I remember that it runs in DOS, and I had it running on a Windows 95 machine. Does it run on later versions of Windows (98, ME or even 7?). I basically plan to buy an old, cheap PC so I can run the game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hi tony,brad,ect.,i havent played gold for quite,so ive been out of the harpoon loop for awhile.ive tried updating my hcdb with 070414(i noticed that it says its compatable with 2003.16b)i have 2003.10. is this a problems>if so can i update to 2003.16b with a patch?when i try running any scenario in the game it runs fine although it still says i have version 2003.10,the problem starts with the scenario editor.if i try to edit an exsiting scenario(any of the ec2003 scenarios) i get this error Annex SHIFT(21268 [0x5314])=5,annex=14 this message has been logged.although im really good with the hardware aspect of computers sometimes the software stuff gets the best of me.…

Playing an IOPG battleset, just had one of my subs fire a torpedo at a DD, instead the 2 ADCAPs killed my second LA. Harpoon weirdness....

I just want to say hello to all members, from a newly registered but old wargamer, and surprised at the good quality of some posts here. I'm returning to enjoy wargames thanks to HCE, and although I had a hard time, I finally managed to sink two Nanuchkas in exchange of only a merchant (North Countess) and I am really satisfied with my achievement so I want to spread it to the four winds . Hello everybody, I'm new to this (just discovered) forum! I have played for long to Harpoon Classic many years ago, I have now found out that an updated version called HCE is sold online and I've just downloaded the demo before buying the game. I have tested the demo this week but I have found a very annoying bug, it seems that many subs are almost impossible to sink: you need to release 15 or more torpedos before even seeing the animation of the torbedo approaching the sub. I've just tested again this issue on the Western Pacific Battleset mission 9# where two Echo II subs spotted many miles away have just managed to hit my carrier group even after something like 10 Vi…

Back in the day, like many of you, I played Harpoon OnLine but I didn't have enough money to play the paid, just the pre-pre-release . Unfortunately my memory of the actual gameplay is foggy and my current coding efforts are running across some of the items that any multiplayer HC would face. So if you have the answers I'd most like to have my memory refreshed!

I noticed somewhere there's a hot key to the (new) "zero" time acceleration (pause, but can still use windows and issue orders etc) in the beta GEs. The hot key is alt ctrl P. In case you haven't noticed it it is very good for those hectic moments when you have been cruising along at high game speed but suddenly need the world to stop NOW. I wonder if it could be twiddled to work from the assistants advise box, you know the sort where he says, something like "every known missile is headed towards you, would you like to turn on your radar?" Guys Recently bought the Ultimate edition. Played a "Splendid Little War" and destroyed all enemy installations and all their naval units. As far as I could tell both the French and Italian formations ended up where they needed to (although ships kept annoyingly running aground on the coastline!) but at the end of the scenario I got a "neither side met minimum victory conditions message"! I cannot launch the Commander's Edition scenario editor as I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 which apparently means I can't run it. So how can I ever find out what I ACTUALLY need to do to win a scenario? Regards Andy

Hi Gang, How do I correct this screen issue in Win 7? HUCE is installed on my Laptop and the screen resolution is set at 1366 x 768. What should the optimum res be for running HUCE in Win 7?

I don't get a Platform Editor option on the HCE Main Menu page (I do get the scenario editor) and I do not own MS Access. If this has been covered elsewhere on HarpGamer please redirect me. Thanks

This is kind of a dumb question but I'm gonna go with it... How do I get new scenarios and battlesets? I am pretty sure I have Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition (from Matrix games). I saw that there are different databases and that you can install different scenarios and battlesets. I also saw that there were download links on these forums. I'm just not sure how I go about doing that. Do the new Battlesets require a new database? I was interested especially in the new battlesets (USNI, Carribean, South Atlantic, etc.)

Hi guys, I am old fan of this game I played it when it used be on 12 floppy discs (must be early or mid 90') so when I saw this new HUE I bought it in blink of eye. In this new edition I have seen some old classic scenarios/battlesets but also some new. Please can you explain me how to install user made scenarios like lets say Falkland (so I can sink Invincible, and die happy ).Is there some kind of sticky or topic where is everything explained step by step. Hi All, I'm wondering how I should go about prosecuting contacts detected via ESM. I've seen this happen quite a bit from, say, patrolling ASW aircraft, but can never seem to get a more solid fix. Usually when I send a ship out to close with them, it gets into attack range and my missiles don't find anything. Is this a matter of turning on radar and maneuvering? If I have a bearing to a contact, I assume that's the bearing from the platform which detected them, and not necessarily that of the group as a whole. Often I end up surprised by sudden damage, without a prior contact. I wonder if I'm just getting unlucky. I've noticed this most in "Gauntlet," but it seems t…

Hi, I've been using ACCESS-97 data base. However, when I upgraded to Win10, it would not support my ancient version of OFFICE. I have now installed the latest version of OFFICE 365. I don't need ACCESS 365. Microsoft, in their wisdom. only installs in total ( can't take only some components of OFFICE 365). The new version won't use the ACCESS-97 format. The run time software that comes with HCE won't run if a version of ACCESS is already installed. I do use WORD and EXCEL; or I would just uninstall OFFICE 365 Does anyone have any suggestions to get around this conundrum? TIA, Gene Smith
