August 11, 200718 yr Author To summerize the war currently, I'd say I'm screwed but then again I'm playing Japan against an enemy that's only going to get bigger and badder as the months pass along. Dewayne's stopped most of my offensives pretty much in their tracks. If I can't get Java under the Japanese heel soon I'm going to be in deep doo-doo. I've got alot of firepower sitting in Java just doing bombardment missions because I can't break the Allied airpower over the Island. On the whole I think I've done a great job of smashing up the Allied navies though. Dewayne's operations have to take place under the watchful eyes of the USAAF otherwise I'd sink the rest of his ships This war has been badly run from my side of things and I'm sure I'd be long since replaced following the disaster at Port Moresby (lack of a simple little thing as recon would have prevented my KB from getting the crap smacked out of it). Though I think it's fair to say that Dewayne would have been replaced after I mauled his CV groups off Paula toward the beginning months of the war. When I stumbled upon his BB group heading to the States, that was the icing on the cake . The nice thing about games is I don't have to worry about the firing squad after I make a nasty (and stupid!) mistake. I'm sure Dewayne will pipe in here at some point and give his thoughts as well. That's enough for now Sincerely Kelly-san
August 12, 200718 yr Author WitP Opponent available .. any side and any scenario ! I've already challenged Dewayne to another game but hopefully someone will take you up on that, btw you might want to check out the Matrix forums (matrix.com) and look under war in the pacific, struggle against japan. The forums there are pretty active and you'll find an opponent. If you don't, let me know and maybe we can sort something out. Hope this helps Sincerely Kelly
August 15, 200718 yr Author Quick update here. Dewayne and I've been trading airstrikes with varying degrees of luck. Both sides have suffered heavily though. There was a minor CV skirmish in the Coral Sea. Looked like the Brit CV fleet was heading back to Oz from Rabaul and ran into my mobile strike group. It was a one-sided affair with only my side launching strikes but my air fleet arm has been seriously weakened following the battle off Port Moresby so all I managed to do was torp Warspite and one of the Brit CVs, I don't think either is in danger of sinking. Not sure why Dewayne's CVs didn't launch their own strikes (I got lucky in this). He did however, chew up more of my pilots and planes for little return. Forces continue to manuver around looking for openings on both sides. Dewayne's going to have to make some tough decisions in Northern China soon . If he doesn't reinforce that region I should be able to take Sian and other major cities in the area. Once this is done, I should have quite afew more forces freed up for operations in other areas. That's it for now. Sincerely Kelly-san
August 15, 200718 yr They were not on the way to Oz they were sent to intercept your carrier group. Worked well since my strike planes wouldnt launch. Most of my fighters did fortunately. Not sure why they wouldnt since there are enough there to do the job. The South Pacific is slowly coming up under my stranglehold as my grasp upon Eniwetok strengthens. Its only a matter of time before the south pacific is a non player in the grand scheme of things.
August 17, 200718 yr Author Well that's good, cuz when I invade Hawaii from that direction, at least it'll be a surprise... Sincerely Kelly-san
August 18, 200718 yr Author I figured I can get some Japanese to the moon, once Dewayne drops 'the bomb' they should be able to reach orbit at the very least . Sincerely Kelly-san
August 28, 200718 yr The war moves slowly now as Kelly vainly looks for a way to pull victory from the jaws of CERTAIN defeat. Iwo Jima is being pounded daily and will fall as soon as I decide to land troops there. Port Moresby is another untenable position for my Japanese friends. As evidenced by my recent naval bombardment. So his goal of isolating Rabaul has failed. The supply ships I just landed there had no problems at all with the trip there. His vaunted offensive to secure China has ran afoul of several Chinese divisions that like nothing better but to shoot up some Japs. Eniwetoks airfield has been expanded so my medium bombers I am rebasing there should help put a damper on any operations in the south pacific. As for Hawaii the only way any Jap army regulars will see it will be from the portholes of my prison ships as they stop in to refuel. Your friendly Allied General, Dewayne
August 29, 200718 yr Author Hmm Dewayne's pretty good at the propaganda deal but sorry to say he's full of it. Yes he has made some great and early headway against the mighty Japanese empire, at some point the wheels are going to fall off his wagon. On a side note, the game is going very slowly at this point due to my job cuz my boss' heart decided it was time for them both to spend some quality time in the hospital (I figured he didn't have a heart so go figure...). Hopefully in a week or two (I WAS supposed to get my second summer vacation starting on Labor day but...) I can get this back on track. Take care fellas... Sincerely Kelly-san Emperor of Japan for all time
August 29, 200718 yr I think the proper phrase would be "the bombs are gonna fall out of my B-29" not the wheels from my wagon.
September 1, 200718 yr Author A quickie update... Dewayne and I've reached October 10th or so. Not much really has been happening other then what's been described beforehand. We're still trading airstrikes and I seem to keep coming out ontop. We're both moving units around on the board and I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop from Dewayne while making my own plans. No CV battles since the clash at Port Moresby and no other major surface clashes as of late either. Seems to be the calm before the storm. Sincerely Kelly-san
September 2, 200718 yr No CV battles, is that because they have met each other or because we sunk them all? It has been pretty quite lately, rebuilding strength and strategic positioning taking place. The only real movement has been in China and it will turn out to be a stalemate also as neither of us has the strength to win there at the moment.
September 8, 200718 yr Author I think I sank all your CVs (well 2/3 rds of them anyways). Dewayne is right though, there isn't much going on as we move stuff around and await the other shoe to drop from either side. Shouldn't be too much longer before that happens though. I should have some time tomorrow to do a proper update with pics and all that stuff. Sincerely KellyC
September 8, 200718 yr Thanks Kelly and Dewayne, I'm no longer addicted to my daily WiTP SITREP but the occasional update is still fun to see.
September 8, 200718 yr Looks as if war weariness has set in on the belligerents. Let's hope that during the lull they resupplying and rearming for another vicious clash.
