March 24, 201115 yr I have HUCE and installed just the final ANW (3.10 I believe). I installed the update, but when I click on Play, I just get a little error message saying "unknown exception."
March 24, 201115 yr For the fun of it try running the H3Launcher.exe from the game directory and starting the game that way. If that fails, try it again but use the "Video and Sound" options tab to make sure you are running in Windowed mode. The patch you ran was ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Harpoon-Ult...date-v3101a.zip right? If that all still doesn't work, let us know what operating system you are using.
March 25, 201115 yr Author Running the H3Launcher.exe from the game directory works. I made a desktop shortcut for it. The patch I ran was from the launcher because the game wouldn't run. Kept saying it was past its date or something. Very strange interface for someone used to HC. Needs some getting used to. As always, thanks for the help. Enjoying the game again.

Yes, the interface definately takes a lot of getting used to. Good luck in making the adjustments.
March 26, 201115 yr But you get a lot of micromanagement possibilities in return. It´s a matter of taste, as so often in life.
March 26, 201115 yr Author Funny that the launcher works on my laptop with the same installer file. As for ANW, getting used to it now by doing the tutorial scenarios. I can see why it has its adherents and I will be using it as well.
April 24, 201115 yr But you get a lot of micromanagement possibilities in return. It´s a matter of taste, as so often in life. I just got ANW as part of the Ultimate Package after playing Harpoon Classic since the days of DOS. I'm still getting used to the game play, and I can see why so many players prefer one over the other. ANW is definitely going to take time to master playing, but right off I'd say that the Mission function is priceless. Many times I'd have found uses for that feature in the Classic version. Buddha

Regards, Ralf Is there a way of using the mission editor to perform something like the "intercept" available in Harpoon Classic to assign planes currently in formation patrol to intercept a target? I find the absence of the good old "intercept" alternative in the staff advisers list a real annoyance. Don Thomas
May 2, 201114 yr Hi Don, yes, this is possible: assign some ac to a formation, CAP mission. Start. Watch them in the formation window flying their patrol zone as you defined. Now, if a hostile ac closes, just click on it. Hit the intercept button. You see that those units flying formation patrol are available for intercept. Check the box in front of them. They should break formation and attack. Regards, Ralf

Regards, Ralf sounds good, I haven't been using the formation window except to set formations, I guess from what you say I should use it a bit like the unit window in 'classic'. Thanks, Don

March 4, 201214 yr Frans, is this both in windowed and fullscreen or only one of them? Are you using a special mouse like a gaming mouse? If so, which one? Anything else special that might help us?
