Staff Assistant Mod
Hi all, I am looking at what I think is one of the toughest arty tasks to do with the graphics folder and that is the staff assistant! Not just because I cant draw people at all!! But because he is probably the most recognised face of Harpoon Classic. Everyone has a love hate relashionship with him.... So I give you some new surroundings for him! I personally like the new surroundings for him, im not likely to ever be able to replace the staff assistant himself (Because like I said I cant draw people), but if someone has any ideas I would be more than happy to pursue! Of course this is another option for the staff assistant... Let me know what you think, I have also attached the file to this message (Not the sea captain...) so that you can take him for a beta trial just to ensure that the image is displayed correctly on your system. Designed for use with post HCE 2008.43 I have created a mod for HCE which adds my own personal artwork in place of the stock icons in the game which makes them look slicker and more up to date. Replace the GR_ICONS.BMP in "Matrix Games\HCE\Graphics" with the GR_ICONS.BMP file contained within the attached zip file, remembering to backup your original file should these icons not work as expected or be to your taste. Please extract the contents of the folder contaned in this .zip to your Matrix Games\HCE\Sound folder. Replenishment At Sea
Yes I quite agree with this! You could even take this one step further and have these points assigned to the aircraft that are to be refuelled, this could possibly lead to better modelling of aircraft endurance to different thrust settings(As currently I dont see any difference in endurance unless the aircraft are running on reheat), perhaps it could even lead to an extra value displayed in the little unit info box which displays total remaining airborne time? I think that would be very useful. Just an idea for the mixing pot.

Hi all, As some of you know ive been moving home and have been settled in for a about 2 weeks now! British Telecom have managed to screw up the installation of the communications line to my apartment, so while I should have been able to order my broadband yesterday, that is not going to happen now until BT can sort out the mess they have made. Once ive ordered the broadband it should be another week or two before I get back online.... Sorry to Tony and the beta team for my absence, I will hopefully be back soon, ill update when the broadband is ordered. Cheers

2008.043 Release Notes
- Chg:0000 GE Updated Credits I confirm my name is spelt correctly and im dead chuffed that it is even there!! 2. For those testing the installer mechanism, make sure you delete the spurious delres, res..., etc. shortcuts before installing the patch, they should no longer be created after I updated the installer script. I can confirm the installer works from 024 and any following versions.. tested both on my beta and personal copy.. also the res and delres shortcuts are no longer present in the install process.

Yep, I copied it right out of the shortcut I used to test the feature. (it is an l as in Lima) OK. Will try when able. Sorry. This isn't working. When I replace Winharp32.exe with Winharp32.exe -l sonar, it takes me to the Open With box and that gets me nowhere... Wombat you need to add the -l switch here: In the shortcut properties Then run HCE from this shortcut The GE will then begin dumping sonar data I have tested this and it did appear to work.

Scenario for HCE/Caribbean: Under Fire
Ok thanks for an excellent scenario Brad which I had alot of fun with Here are some of my thoughts which I hope will be helpful: Positive + The orders were clear and concise and told a very believable story of the situation at hand which helped me get straight into the feel for the scenario before even starting it. + The Venezualans showed their intent to take out those politicians right from the get go and I think the aggression of their attacks was perfect, if not a little overkill on the first airbase, but that can be forgiven due to their desperation I suppose + The units given to me were sufficient to get the job done, while providing me with a challenge in keeping the politicians safe from the Venezualans due to their more sophisticated equipment. + The Cubans had a clear presence over their territory and made me wary of straying too close to their radars, which was part of the orders to basically to not provoke them. + The atmosphere set by the task at hand was fantastic and on looking at the enemy radar coverage made me really thing this was going to be tough keeping things quiet and getting it done in a timely manner. Negative - There is only sequence which you can take to get the politicians out, there is no time between the venezualan airstrikes to pursue any other safer methods of getting them out. You also need to watch the fact that the helicopters are part of the red victory conditions and they do not have enough time to refuel and get away from Cartanega before the next strike arrives. Howeever thankfully this was alleviated with some skillful use of the Kfirs in an ambush CAP role. This alone keeps the replayability factor somewhat limited. Well you will be pleased to know Brad that is the only negative I can come up with, personally I think the scen was an excellent excercise in stealth and fast thinking. Bugs - The viConds do not trigger correctly, despite getting the helicopters and the plane to their destinations the conditions did not trigger a minimum or a total victory. To test this I checked what viConds you had set and them made the aircraft take off again and hover inside the victory box where their destinations are for about an hour of gametime with no effect. From looking into the scenario a bit further however it appears that the viCond for the helicopters reaching Cartanega does not specify a "helo>transport" broadtype insted it specifies "aircraft>transport" which is cleary wrong (At least I think it is anyway) The one for the plane reaching MacDill looks fine however is there any particular reason why they are specified as OR events? does this have any impact on them not working too? I hope this is helpful And for the record 5 Kfirs lost for 4 SU-30 downed Apart from that not a shot fired from any USA participant and Cartanega never got damaged by the incoming airstrike! The only fighting was between Colombia and Venezuala which what I believed the orders wanted from me. At least that leaves less to cover up for the US Governement hehehe

I have been tinkering away and sampling various sounds and turning them into something suitable for HCE! And for my efforts I bring you the attached file which contains several brand new sounds for HCE in the form of a Mod. Just backup your sounds folder and spill the contents of this zip into it. This Mod includes: - New jet takeoff sound - New prop takeoff sound - New helicopter takeoff sound - New missile launch sound - New torpedo launch sound - New torpedo hit sound - New explosion\hit sound - New gunfire sound Please give this a whirl and let me know what you think. Also please dont just listen to the sound file, please give me some feedback about the game experience with them, as that is the most important aspect. Please DO NOT distribute this as it is a beta! 2008.027 Release Notes
Confirmed, this works I have modded the icon graphics file and replaced it with a new one I created and work totally fine without any obvious slowdown. Swapping sound files also works flawlessly!

Scenario for HCE/Caribbean: Under Fire
No problem I am running through the scenario a second time, because my C37 got bombed before I could get the choppers to the airfield where it is located.... Mainly because I decided to pull back the Hueys to the airbase to the South and then ship them North to Cartagena to skirt the enemy radars with a better distance from its effective area.. which gave the venezualans time to bomb it and destroy the transport..
