  1. AgustaWestland AW139 and variants http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgustaWestland_AW139 "The AgustaWestland AW139 is a 15-seat medium sized twin-engined helicopter manufactured by AgustaWestland. Originally designed and developed jointly by Agusta and Bell Helicopters and marketed as the Agusta-Bell AB139, it was redesignated the AW139 when Bell withdrew from the project. The AW139 has become one of AgustaWestland's most influential products; it has been subsequently developed into two enlarged medium-lift helicopters, the military-orientated AW149 and the AW189 for the civil market." --Wikipedia Variants may need their own database entries... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgustaWestland_AW149 <-- carries one squad of troops http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgustaWestland_AW189 <-- civil variant, but also designed for SAR operations ANW HUD-4 v1.11

  3. I just modified these again. I changed the plot lines (I wasn't entirely happy with them and I think the new version is better). I also added a couple of tables with more possible locations for scenarios...troubled seas and maritime choke points. Enjoy!

  5. I'm not sure you can move scenarios from one version of the game to another. I think there is a way to rebuild them, but I think it's more complicated than just the standard rebuild you use when a database is updated. The standard scenarios (global conflicts, etc.) have all been rebuilt for 3.11, but I'm not sure about the ones designed by fans. That might be the main reason for keeping all the different versions. Sorry I can't be more help here; I really don't know.
  6. Sin Hung/Ku Song class small torpedo boat http://www.hazegray.org/worldnav/asiapac/n_korea.htm http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/dprk/p-sinhung.htm Description: North Korean torpedo boat. The North Koreans have a zillion of these! Okay, maybe more like 100. But they have a lot. Or, at least, they used to (they may have been retired by now...it's hard to tell). Yeah, laugh now, but I think twenty of these things popping up all at once might give a South Korean destroyer captain a very bad day indeed. ANW HUD-4 v1.11
  7. Kongbang class Air-Cushioned Vehicles (ACV) http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/dprk/acv.htm http://jsw.newpacificinstitute.org/?p=4115 Description: North Korean air cushion vehicle capable of transporting a platoon of soldiers. (It is unclear how they are armed, but one photo shows what looks like a heavy machine gun or an automatic cannon. Maybe the 2M-7 twin 14.5 mm. HMG? Should landing craft like these have the troops as a loadout, the way helicopters do? Is there a way to model this in H3? Maybe just build the troops as a one-shot cannon with a big warhead (60 DP for a platoon?) and a two-mile range? In any event, the North Koreans have a LOT of these, so they could be very useful in scenarios.) AWN HUD-4 v1.11
  8. Nanchang CJ-6 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanchang_CJ-6 Description: Normally used by the Chinese as a basic trainer, but capable of being armed with machine guns, bombs, and/or rockets, or of serving as an observation aircraft. With more than 2,000 built since 1960, and many in the hands of private citizens, it is not inconceivable that some could end up being used by insurgents, drug lords, or terrorists. ANW HUD-4 v1.11
  9. Excellent news. What gets updated after the sensors, or will that bring the whole database to the new standards?
  10. The update is for Harpoon 3.10 (Advanced Naval Warfare). Here are the links... http://www.matrixgames.com/news/996/Harpoon.-.Ultimate.Edition.Gets.Improvements.and.Fixes.in.New.Update http://www.matrixgames.com/products/392/downloads/ As for 3.9.4, I've never used it; I think it was just the version released after 3.6.3 but before ANW. 3.11 (ANW) is, I think, the only version being supported now.

KAI Surion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAI_Surion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAI_Surion#Variants "The KAI Surion is a twin-engine, transport utility helicopter developed primarily by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) jointly with Eurocopter. The Korea Helicopter Project - Korea Utility Helicopter program is to cost about 1.3 trillion won ($1.05 billion, €0.75 billion), and was launched in 2006 under the Agency for Defense Development.[3][4] Full-scale production will begin in 2012 with KAI being the principal builder.[4][5] Around 245 Surions are on order to replace the aging fleet of UH-1H attack helicopters and 500MD light helicopters,[4] which have been in service for decades. South Korea will also build civilian variants of the helicopter, marketing around 300 Surions." -Wikipedia Planned variants include an attack helicopter (probably needs a separate database listing) ANW HUD-4 v1.11
  12. Yeah, the highest option (1280 x 1024) is grayed out on mine, although I am pretty sure my computer could handle that resolution. Does it matter which option is checked in Windowed mode (or if you just use a custom setting with the sliders)? Sorry I'm not more help on this. I'm afraid my solution to a lot of technical problems is along the lines of "just try every option until you find one that works and then forget what you did so the next time you have to do it all over again." On the other hand, you said you were able to get 3.10 working normally? In that case, it may be moot point. I would just use 3.10 (and update to 3.11) and go from there.
  13. Interesting about the video options...I have almost the opposite problem; if I don't run the game in Windowed version, it looks absolutely hideous and I can't always see the cursor. Weird! I've got it set on Windowed Mode with the 1024x768 box clicked on, if that makes any difference. I think if you set it up with some custom window size instead of using one of the pre-set options maybe it gets a little fussy, but I honestly don't know. I never use 3.6.3 myself anymore. I suspect there are some subtle differences between the various game engines, but I never noticed anything that really jumped out at me. And I think most of the standard scenarios have already been rebuilt to use with ANW 3.11. So I don't think you'll lose anything by just switching to 3.11. Again, you may want to update to 3.11 and see if that makes any difference. It seems like they fixed some of the game engine issues with that update. I hope this helps. Do anyone else have any ideas? Mark
  14. Just a few more ideas (again, designed so they can be done simply, using existing platforms but adding new names so Victory Conditions can be set more easily)... STRC – Village Use: STRC – Factory Description: A small rural community STRC – Residential Area Use: STRC – Factory Description: An urban or suburban community INF – Rebels Use: INF – Pirate Gunmen Description: A small force of armed rebels INF – Freedom Fighters Use: INF – “Stay Behind(s)” Description: A small force of armed freedom fighters BLDG - Safe House Use: BLDG - Small (but, if possible, add a "Small Arms" weapons mount--it would not be surprising if the people at the safe house were armed) Description: A perfectly ordinary building STRC - Prison Use: STRC - Factory (but, if possible, add a "5.56 Assault Rifles" weapons mount to represent the prison guards) Description: A correctional facility or prison camp BLDG – Chemical Weapons Laboratory Use: BLDG – Generator Building Description: A facility designed to produce chemical and/or biological weapons (By the way, a lot of the buildings suggested earlier using the "Leadership Compound" as the base template might be redone with the "Generator Building" as the base template if a block building symbol seems more appropriate than the radio tower symbol that appears with the Leadership Compound. They both have 150 DP so the only thing that would change would be the symbol.)
  15. I haven't run into this specific problem, so my advice may or may not be helpful... What I found is that 3.11 (the upgrade from 3.10) works better than 3.10. More stable, etc. And, at least on my system, both 3.11 and 3.10 were more stable than 3.63. I also found that sometimes, I had to click both the Play Harpoon launcher application AND the scenario editor or the game, just once each time, like switching back and forth between them, to get them to work. I don't know if this will help; I hope it does. Try downloading the 3.11 update (it's free) and see what happens? I hope this helps. Mark
  16. Yojimboguy, I definitely feel your pain with not being able to write Harpoon Classic scenarios anymore (although for me, the problem is that I've got a 64-bit system and it does not like 16-bit programs like the SE.) It was one reason I started writing scenarios with H3. I'm not trying to poach you away from Harpoon Classic--okay, maybe I am a little--but you might want to try out Harpoon 3 ANW and the HUD-4 database. Among other things, you can set up patrols for the OpFor aircraft with range limits so they will not chase an AEW plane very far. H3 also models climb and descent rates, so I don't think the "instant landing" trick will work in H3 (I haven't actually tried it, so I don't know)--in other words, even at 0 miles, it will take a little while to get the plane down. If you are interested, please feel free to post ideas, ask questions, etc. in the H3 forums. Or, if you want, please feel free to send me messages. I'll be happy to do what I can to help you out.
