  1. All fine for me, only I don't want too much hypotheticals (perhaps only the platforms in advanced stages of development, with prototypes or keel lay-down, as the big Soviet CVN, Comanche or A-12).
  2. Oh, yes, I see, keep the "old" HCDB for the stock scenarios, not bad idea. I'm intrigued about the "new philosophy", hehehe
  3. Good idea in first instance, but I think is a bad idea for newbies in Harpoon HCE/HUCE, them probably will want to play the stock scenarios. Newbies are few and spacied in the time, and I think that will disappoint them. Perhaps will be better to expand new installation entries in the DB (also, we are capable to keep the scenario design well with the DB limitations, better with more bases, but not an absolute must), and only later revamp the duplicated ones. Also, I'm intrigued by those 2578 downloads in 15 months, is consequence of the good work updating and expanding the DB many times the last times, or other thing?
  4. Good strategy and analysis, thanks Brad! Spoilers alert!!!!: About: one of the scenario "excuses" is (Israeli/Blue side orders): as consequence, the Israeli side only can use more or less a 25% of the Israeli Air Force inventory, excluding F-15I and F-16I, and limited to the F-16C/D based at Ramat David, and some few F-15 for air cover. If the Israeli Air Force could use all their aircraft the Russian/Red side should be very few playable!
  5. I see the standard HCDB 1980-2015 has been downloaded 12,578 downloads, 2578 times more from July 2014, more than a 25% increase in only 15 months, for me it sounds very good!
  6. Also, after retaking the old scenario building, all the ships of the same class have received the first name in the list name of that class in both SE and GE (as example, in the HCDA all the deployed in the map civilian tankers of the British Esk class are named as British Wye, the first ship name in the class).
  7. Yeah, returning to a pre-2015.008+ scenario in design. The only issue is the customized bases names have returned to his original Generic names.
  8. Sustained low-level speed of F-35 limited to some 0,8 Mach because heat retention ("When this article was written in mid-April, the F-35 was known still to have an airframe heat-retention issue that prevented it from operating at sustained high subsonic speeds (within 20% of Mach 1 at low altitudes. While potentially solvable, this isn´t a problem the F-35 pilots or operators of future NGAD would want to have during a mission"), as I did read a few minutes ago in the Air International Juny 2015 issue, page 73, article "Towards Tomorrow's United States Fighther Engine", by Chris Kjelgaard, and I found the same reference in Internet in the own magazine (probably more related magazines in Scribb!): http://es.scribd.com/doc/269303020/AIR-US-NG
  9. Says Tony: But I see it's not in both senses, I'm opening both with SE and GE scenarios predating 2015.008+ !!! (I think it was only my bad understanding of the issue!).
  10. I think almost sure is a Orlan-10, probably you can shoot-down it with your own hands from an helicopter!: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlan-10
  11. The last iterations of Harpoon HCE/HUCE and PE and SE run fine in my alternative old computer, an Asus 10" with Intel Atom and only 1 Gb RAM, with Windows XP (now using from two months ago Windows 10 in the main computer and everything is also fine) as that limited computer run it well, I think any other also can do ti.
  12. File Name: Latakia Bastion advanced base, October 2015. Historical Scenario. File Submitter: broncepulido File Submitted: 15 Oct 2015 File Category: Middle East Latakia Bastion advanced base, October 2015. Historical Scenario. A Harpoon Commander's Edition scenario for The Middle East Battleset and the HCDB-150928 standard 1980-2015 Platform Database. This scenario is designed with advanced Scenario Editor and to be run with HCE 2015.008+ or later. This scenario is designed to be played from the Blue/Israel side or from the Red/Russian side. To avoid a few spoilers you should play a few times first the Blue side, and only later play the Red side. Image: Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback strike fighter, in Russian service from 21 March 2014. Photo taked by Dmitry Terekhov in 30 August 2015 at MAKS 2015, retrieved from Wikipedia Commons. After the full of naval, military and security incidents year of 2014 and the not less eventful first eight months of 2015, the World was beginning the so-called Second Cold War. Mostly as result of President of Russia Vladimir Putin (ex-KGB lieutenant colonel) actions, provoking in succession the Crimea, Ukraine, Donetsk, Baltic States, October 2014 Swedish submarine incursion, G-20 Brisbane meeting naval crisis, November 2014 Faslane submarine incident, frigate Yaroslav Mudryy February "Channel Dash", April 2015 Finnish submarine incursion (for many observers causing the pre-mobilization of Finland reserve forces), and with constant and multiple overflies with military warplanes entangled in potential incidents with commercial flights in Europe. That without counting in other unrelated naval incidents, just as the Iranian seizure of the Maersk Tigris in 28 April 2015 (and neither counting in landlocked actions, as the ISIS operations in Middle East). At last at the start of September 2015, and in face of the mild Western answer at his previous action (but aside constant and intensive military drills worldwide) Vladimir Putin decides to higher his stakes, His last decision surprised the World and was centred in a new theatre of operations for Russia: That was Syria and his four-year long civil unrest and war. With the alibi of destroy the Islamists of Islamic State/Daesh, Putin start to place considerable warplane assets in Bassel Al-Assad International Airport (a simple and small base now called Khmeimim AB) and to fortify it. The base is near Latakia and Tartus, both Syrian Mediterranean ports of call with a discrete previous Russian military presence, limited mostly to intelligence and support dedicated ships. But actually the alibi was only aimed to neutralize and destroy with ground attacks not the Islamic State/Daesh forces, but other Syrian rebel forces, not so Islamist, menacing Russian ally Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the own Russian global strategic position. But that's public excuses and covert actions could be a calculus error and more dangerous for Putin ambitions than he expects, as the region politics and power balances are all less easy. Probably at long run a decision more erroneous than the limited US support to Afghanistan Mujahideen in the 1980s, and one feeding growing concern in Israel ... Note: this scenario was initially inspired in current fake claims posted in dubious Internet sites about the Israeli fighters fleeing as consequence of the presence of Russian fighters. 13. Some tags employed for scenario description, it can be employed by any scenario designer for sake of standardization and simplification in upcoming scenarios, feel you free to use it: 1971 Indo-Pakistani War AAR Academic Scenario Air Intensive Scenario Afghanistan Alternate Americas Database Alternate Cold War Database Alternate History Scenario Arab-Israeli Wars ASW Scenario B-52 Scenario Bald Eagle Battleship Scenario China Cold War Scenario Colonial Scenario Contemporary Events Designed Covert Operations Drone Scenario Duel F-35 Scenario France Scenario Gabriel Global War on Terrorism Scn Harpoon SITREP based Scenario HCDB2 New Standard DB HCE 2015.008+ or later SE/GE Historical Scenario Hypothetical Scenario Intense Introductory Scenario Israel Iran Komar Korean War Kriegsmarine Large LCS Scenario Michael Barkai Missile Boats Morocco Osa Phoney War RB-57 Russian Invasion of Ukraine Saar Science Fiction Scenario Second Cold War Scenario Six-Day War Spain Scenario Spanish Civil War Scenario Special Operations Strategic Reconnaissance Submarine Scenario Spook Spy Styx Suez Crisis Variable Replayable Yom Kippur War WWII Scenario WWIII 1980s Scenario WWIII 1990s Scenario
  14. Entry 2263 Hoang (1166.1E) Gepard-class frigate in the HCDB has maximum speed of 21, I think is a typo (or perhaps thinking on the maximum speed with only a set of engines), it should be 28. http://militaryrussia.ru/blog/topic-438.html
  15. Just the weekend I did view some modern fighters videos (YouTube is too "new" for me, usually don't use it, with a lot of info is now on it), and my conclusion was the Su-30SM is the more agile current fighter (perhaps the future MiG-35 with vectorizable nozzles), no comparison even with F-22, Su-35S or Sukhoi T-50 (almost a brick) no mentioning F-35 ... A interesting comparative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N2xRevg3SU
  16. I think Russia also wants to sell Su-30SM everywhere.
  17. Related news report in 2007, probably Israel has from 2008 200xAIM-120C7 (in the same news also 500xAIM-9M and 30xRGM-84L Harpoon II: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1887213/posts 2012 reference to the Israeli use of AIM-120C¿7?: http://www.aviobook.com/military/4X.FIGHTERS/4X.FIGHTERS.ENG.html And probably AIM-120C5 from 2001 (bad source, but it says copied from Federation of American Scientists, to revise the origin): http://imediata.org/lancededados/Palestina/gordon_conexao.html
  18. In the next future Israeli Air Force will be equipped with AIM-120C7: http://www.deagel.com/Air-to-Air-Missiles/AIM-120C-AMRAAM_a001164003.aspx http://www.israeldefense.co.il/en/content/report-us-will-sell-israel-14500-jdam-kits
  19. One point, in my particular case to install Build 2015.17 and to keep use of previous builds, I simply copy and paste the entire (old pre Build 2015.17, including old scenarios and in progress scenarios and pre Build 2015.17 GE and SE) HCE folder in the same Matrix Games folder, change the folder copy name to "HCE OLD", and install the Build 2015.17 in the now original and "new" HCE folder (deleting previously "old" no compatible scenarios to avoid confussions). It works fine for me, and I can return to the old variant (mostly to consult or play old scenarios) everytime I want. And yes, to activate one or other I click on the adequate folde and .exe archive.
  20. (I think deleted my own post a few minutes ago!): Entry 11671 Su-30SM (in service 2014+) should be equipped with SS-N-26 Strobile/P-800 Oniks (Kh-61 variant) air-launched anti-ship missile (discovered a few minute ago perousing the Russia Wikipedia for updated data on missiles). Perhaps is only employed by the Russian Navy Su-30SM and not by the Russian Air Force. Entry 10665 Su-30MKI employ the very similar weapon entry 18852 Brahmos (PJ-10) in 56611 loadout, perhaps we could use the same loadout for Su-30SM (is also more realistic with only one missile, not three as stated in the Russian Wikipedia). As stated in the Russian Wikipedia, loadout as in the Su-30MKI, a maximum of three missiles (The Russian Wikipedia also says Indian Tu-142 are equipped with 6xBrahmos, but I doubt it very much: http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/NAVY/weapons/current/119-tupolev-tu142m.html ). Source: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Оникс_(%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B1%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B0) Su-30 cm-35 in the year 2014. The same number of missiles, the Su-30mki (automatic translator, it means "Su-35SM - 35 en el año 2014. Same number of missiles as in Su-30MKI" (three missiles)). Brahmos-a: Su-30mki (up to 3 missiles), Tu-142 (up to 6)/missile "Brahmos".
