I noticed the following submarines listed as being capable of "very deep" (below 600 meters) operations: Class: Depth per Combat Fleets of the World 15th Edition 1. SSBN Le Triomphant: 500 meters 2. SSN Barracuda: 400 meters 3. SSGN Oscar II/I: 500 meters 4. Akula 1: 520 meters (also probably Akula II); normal operating 400-450 meters Compares to "deep": 5. Virginia: 488 meters test depth 6. Seawolf: 594 meters test depth 7. Los Angeles: 450 meters May need to change the above subs in the database. Steven

Now that the BattleSet Builder has been released, and in anticipation of ever greater things for HCE, I've put together a new database that focuses on the First and Second World Wars. The Harpoon Commander's Edition World Wars Database (HCWW) will initially focus on aircraft, ships, submarines and installations of the Second World War, and in due course, I hope to start adding select platforms from the First World War. A database for WWII in particular has long been a dream for HC players, and Rene Haar and Jan Masterson were the first to make it a reality last year with the release of their HC_WW2_DB. It is important to keep in mind the limitations of the curre…

The DB is no longer focused on GIUK/Atlantique Ocean/Mediteranean only, it covers the whole World except the Westpac Area due to Space Limitations (County Names). It is a worldwide DB for the period from around 1980-1995. The main difference to the in Game db is the changed philosophy for base structure. All long range weapons (SAM/SSM) are removed from Harbours/Airbases. So a Scen-Writer has to add mobile Units to replace the SAMs with improved design posibiliti…

  6. Started by CV32,

In anticipation of the soon to be released BattleSet Builder, in which HCE players will now be able to play scenarios across the entire globe, I've put together a new database that focuses on the 'Americas' - North, South and Central. The Harpoon Commander's Edition Database - Americas (HCDA) contains a wealth of new aircraft, ships, submarines and installations for the theater, as well as retaining and/or adapting many platforms from the official database of the Harpoon Commander's Edition simulation, the HCDB. This allows the fullest range of scenarios to be created with the BattleSet Builder tool, from Soviet/Cuban interventions in Central America and the Caribbe…

I was looking over the loadouts for the F-22A Raptor in the default db, and noticed a few problems. First, the Intercept loadout is listed as 4 * AIM-120C5, 2 * AIM-120D, and 1 * AIM-9X. Should there not be TWO AIM-9X? Second, the GP loadout lists, among other things, 2 * GBU-31 (BLU-109) JDAM. GBU-31 is a 2000-lb bomb, whereas AFAIK, the F-22 is only capable of loading the smaller 1000-lb GBU-32. Finally, the GP-2 loadout lists the GBU-39/B SDB as having a damage rating of 40. The Small Diameter Bomb is a 250-lb class weapon which packs approximately 50 lbs of HE, which should give a damage rating of 4 or 5. One source for the F-22 is here: http://www.globalsecurity.…

Is there a way to obtain Access 97, or another version of MS Access, as freeware? I do not have it and would like to be able to use the PE but do not feel like buying Access from Microsoft.

  15. Started by Buster,

With the addition of Westpac, a recreation of WWII in the Pacific would be on my wish list for HCE. What are the obstacles in creating a new database using Japanese, British and American platforms and loadouts? Is it even possible to do? Your comments, please. Regards, Terry

  16. Started by Paragon,

Hi, I've newly bought HCE, having previously owned HC97, so the Platform Editor is new to me (I'm also not really familiar with Microsoft Access so this may be a simple problem). I have opened the pfbuild2005 file and created several new installations. I exported the database and opened the scenario editor (with PE now closed). However, only one of my new airbases was visible in the 'create new base' menu. I'm not sure why this is. I deleted my new ones and started again, with a similar result (but this time only two new bases visible). Any ideas? All help is appreciated, thanks.

Checking out the SL-AMRAAM in the DB (Humvee-based AMRAAM SAM) and saw that it has the same range as the AIM-120C7. All the discussions I've seen on this system indicates that it has a much smaller range than the air-launched version and is inferior to Patriot range. DN

I'm trying to figure out how you get the RCS value for ships, aircraft, installations, ect ect. I know there's a formula out there to do it, but for life of me, I can't find it, and I've spent close to 2 hours trying to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
