April 10, 200818 yr A very good source for guns is www.navweapons.com, recopilatory of other sources. I use it in my own WWII, WWI and pre-WWI DB (with all the mencionated realism limitations). I increase the hit points of the ships in relation with her armour (vg.: BB South Dakota 1458 hit points, BB Kongo 1082 hp, AC Gromoboi 371 hp, CA Hipper 445 hp, BB Bismarck 1611 hp, BC Seydlitz 997 hp, CL Wiesbaden 204 hp, and so on. Also, I divide by 15 or 18 the weight (in Kg.) of the projectile (AP), halfing the h.p of HE projectiles, and X 0,66 the no hard caped projetiles (based on hits for ship sunk in historic engagements). Also, I've a table with considerations about the quality of the armour (vg. Compound Steel-Iron armour x 0,52, light steel armour/STS/mild steel x 0,50, Krupp NC x 0,77, aluminium x 0,25, Harveyzed x 0,66, iron x 0,4 .... )
August 21, 200916 yr I'm thinking in make a "hunt the Bismarck" scenario, but in the WWII DB I only see her sistership Tirpitz, and I don't see BB King George V neither BB Nelson classes
August 21, 200916 yr I'm thinking in make a "hunt the Bismarck" scenario, but in the WWII DB I only see her sistership Tirpitz, and I don't see BB King George V neither BB Nelson classes If you have the data available, you could use the PE to create the platforms you need. That's how I put the Midway into some home brewed scenarios back before it was included in the DB. Time consuming, but fun as well. Buddha
August 21, 200916 yr I'm thinking in make a "hunt the Bismarck" scenario, but in the WWII DB I only see her sistership Tirpitz, and I don't see BB King George V neither BB Nelson classes If you want to build a particular scenario and need certain platforms added to the HCWW, all you have to do is ask. Building a WWII era database is a huge job, one that has no end in sight.
August 21, 200916 yr Building a WWII era database is a huge job, one that has no end in sight. To build almost every DB is a huge job, and with no end in sight too, I start my own WWII DB one or two years ago (or it will be four years ago?), but I never think about end it. I've also part of a interesting WWI DB, centrated in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, with one of my most favorite ships, the BC Goeben/Yavuz, also the Austro-Hungarian and Italian fleets, and the guerrilla warfare in the Adriatic Sea, and the Otranto Barrage drifters (and almost all the ships of Jutland and Dogger Bank). Other projects initiated are some ships of the Spanish-American war (only the Santiago de Cuba battle) and the Russo-Japanese war (for sake of testing game scales, guns damage and hit points values equivalent to armour), almost every ship with military value of the Spanish Civil war (including of course my own grand-father submarine, the C-3), and some ships of the American Civil war. Of course, all the data researched and retrieved and the partial DBs are at your disposition, if do you want some concrete informations. And yes, I know the complaints about the communications issue in computer Harpoon, My request and comments about the WWII DB are for the sake of commonality in the entries of the DB with other gamers designed scenarios, and I don't want to duplicate efforts, we can modify later the platforms with our ideas, but I think is better if at least the number entry of the platforms are common in our personal database, age by age. My advance in the WWII DB is very hampered now because my incapability to install and run the compatible patches with the use of airguns (I let aside for the moment the WWII DB, and now I'm "tuning" the Falklands/Malvinas ships in the DB Americas some weeks ago, for play a "short" game, but of course the "short" work of "tuning" a minimous part of the DB Americas is a big work, and we've our "real" lifes and jobs, too ...). Yes, I was thinking may be a little of bad taste for my side to request Brad for specific platforms in the WWII DB, but today I was inspired for his request for data about the lend-lease four stakers, and I think was a good moment for a request for determinated platforms. Thanks by the great job, Brad. Now, I go to the WWII DB platform request forum, hehehe ...
