The question seems to come up occassionally about refueling air craft (CAP units in particular) from tankers in formation about a base. I've attached a simple saved game tnk2bse1.hpq (from standard wespac battleset) to illustrate what I do, (I think it's pretty sneaky). the game opens with the CAP patrol out from baseAAa with insuffient fuel to get home. In formation patrol 140 nm away is a tanker AA01. "join" the base and the CAP patrol , 'move' the tanker from the bae to the fighter group and execute the "join". use 'alt' R to commence refuelling and wait for the request to split the tanker then send it home. set the CAP groups speed to send it back to its patrol poi…

I'm sorry to ask this, since it may have been answered before, but the search option didn't return any results. How does refuelling actually work in HCCE from the logistic point of view? Does it matter if I let one tanker refuel 10 aircraft or if I use 2 tankers for that job? Apparently tanking would happen faster with 2 tankers, but does that influence the range gained by the refuelling aircraft, ie does a higher tanker / refueled aircraft ratio increase the total range of the refueled aircraft? Hi Gang, How do I correct this screen issue in Win 7? HUCE is installed on my Laptop and the screen resolution is set at 1366 x 768. What should the optimum res be for running HUCE in Win 7?

Perhaps I've tortured users well enough the last 12 years that Instant Action has been enabled by default. Is it time to flip that position and have it disabled by default? That would mean you get to select a BattleSet and scenario every time you fire up the game instead of being taking to a random scenario.

Is there an MOAB available in the HCE? Or will there be? Thanks!

I'm old game player and access the forum as guest for some time. Recently created a log in, but never post. I'm from Brazil and love this game. Have some questions for you that are the specialist people: 1- Is there any possibility to increase AI difficulty? AI is too weak, not agressive, boring and predictable. 2- Is there any plan for 2 playes on HCE? 3- At this point of time, does it worth getting Harpoon 3 ANW? Or should I wait next version release? 1I found these instructions for opening the PE using MS Access Runtime. Runtime installed properly as far as I can tell. But it will not open pfbuild2005.mdb. I get an error box saying: "can't be started. was unable to initialize the Windows Registry. Rerun MS Access or MS Office Setup to reinstall." There is a note about problems running the PE under Vista, but I didn't find posted details about what that problem is and what the fix is. I don't have Vista, but I do have Windows 7. Any solution?

Hello, at what rate does an aircraft consumpts fuel depending on the speed? At cruising speed it consumpts fuel at a 1:1 rate. What about military speed and afterburner speed?

Just tried opening up the IRC chat with both xchat and the Java portal....both are down....did someone trip over the plug?

I recall reading that these two missiles have onboard radar for mid and late course correction, but I never read any suggestion the firing plane doesn't need its own radar for target selection and initial guidance. Yet here, the various fighters using them can leave off their radar, still fire, and have the enormous advantage of never giving their position away by emitting signals. Still more oddly, I am prompted to turn on my radar when a plane comes within range, but I can choose not to, and the missile performance doesn't seem any the worse for not having the plane's radar on.

I just purchase HUCE from Matrix Games. There are a ton of options and I've seen many different database options out there. What's the most commonly supported and used database? I see that there's a Players Database which is self-branded as the most functional database. Is the self-branding of that database for real or is it just for marketing? I see that the official database on this site has a ton of downloads and was just updated on the 3rd of June 2013. Thoughts?

I just want to say hello to all members, from a newly registered but old wargamer, and surprised at the good quality of some posts here. I'm returning to enjoy wargames thanks to HCE, and although I had a hard time, I finally managed to sink two Nanuchkas in exchange of only a merchant (North Countess) and I am really satisfied with my achievement so I want to spread it to the four winds . Here you can see a tense moment of action: I just want to thank TonyE for his help and availability, and say that I hope to participate in the forum as much as possible.

Does anyone have a freeware edition of WINZIP available? I d/l'd the trial of the new one thinking it was freeware and it is NOT (blast it all). I'm currently unemployed and can't afford the expense the new one costs on my family's tight budget at this time. I don't know if anyone else has tried this scenario (I wasn't able to find any opinions/topics on it), but I have some observations that might be interesting, along with some questions. First, the observations: - Blue a/a weapons are very effective, especially those AIM-120s. - Blue F-15s armed with the AIM-120s are a good counter to Iran's F-14 with the Phoenix, especially when "double-teaming" the enemy group. However, sometimes the F-14s will "sneak in" (maybe radar silent? but wouldn't my EW aircraft still see them), and then they can get easy kills. - Red SAMs are VERY effective against everything: aircraft, HARMs, precision weapons, etc. Almost n…
