What is the reason the navy has given for removing Phalanx CIWS from Aircraft Carriers?

Hi Folks, I have recently installed version 2009.042 on a new Gateway netbook running XP. The game seems to work ok but when I issue a patrol order for a base I can not see the box to click OK and I can not go any further in the game. If any one knows a solution to this issue I would appreciate the help.

When playing Harpoon I realize that radars do not always detects the whole number of aircrafts in a group. Is it stealthier a group composed of 2 F16 (or another plane) than a group composed of 4 F16? I suppose that radars have more chances to detect a group if there are more planes in this group.

Hi all so i recently got harpoon after reading about the worlds navies and such. Even though i knew it was complex i still bought it as i play asl regularly and so I was wondering about various tactics and such for harpoon . Is there any good links or advice you can give me? If I put up an E-3 Sentry in the Formation Editor, does it automatically turn on its sensors and fly at the right height? Or, should it be positioned manually? What about the Prowler and the Raven? What about if I put any of them in groups with other planes? The ingame db for the EF-111A Raven says that it can collect intelligence. Does this mean it can used as an E-3 Sentry? If so, do I just turn on the sensors? I've never used a Prowler or a Raven, how should they be used? I think they're primarily radar jammers, but I'm not sure how to use them. Thanks for the help!

I'm playing the HCE scenario #10 Return of the 18th. I haven't played at all in several months and haven't played steadily in quite awhile. I don't remember firing missiles and missing so much, along with not remembering the soviets firing missiles and hitting so much. I have fired 68 missiles and only shot down 13 planes while they have fired 11 missiles and shot down 10 planes. This is a little over 5 missiles per plane on my end and a bit over 1 missile per plane on their end. I can't believe the soviets planes and missiles are so much better then the allies/nato planes and missiles. My missiles were a combo of Sky Flash, AIM-9M Sidewinders, AIM-7M Sparrows, …

Hello Harpgamers! I'm a noob, playing Harpoon Classic. Well, the thing is that... I can't understand the process of getting new scenarios or battlesets whatever Here are my questions. 1.Is it possible to play other scenarios(like falkland Island war, Korean war, war in South Africa, etc) in Harpoon Classic? 2.If It's possible, what do I have to do in order to play those scenarios? (what are the battlesets? what do I have to do with blq,scq,rdq files?) 3.What do I have to when it shows "Memory Allocation Failure"? Plz answer these questions, cuz I'm desperate to play those scenarios.

Ok, I dont know if you guys will like this or hate this, but i'd like to make a scenario with ideas from the forum!!! Both expertise and creativity are needed! So overall we need: Unitset ????? Location Atlantic Iceland Mid east Westpac ????? Backstory ????? Blueforces ????? Redforces ????? Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations ????? Any ideas? realistic or crazy, all are welcome Any ideas for the location?, I suggest maybe Yemen? Iran?

When will the next update be released for Harpoon Commanders Edition?

Hi Guys, I assume lots of you use Mozilla firefox browser, I've recently gone from version 3.0 to 3.6 and am having difficulties having to frequently reload pages and sometimes log out. Version 3.0 seemd fine. If I use 'safe mode' (no add ons etc) it seems better so I have just about every thing turned off but still have some problems. The usual problems are graphics appearing in the wrong places or componenets (such as up load manager) not loading. Any one had (and solved) similar problems and can give me some clues? I use AVG free anti virus and windows XP. Don Thomas

Now maybe you've seen this for your self but I have only just come across it and I thought it hilarious. The game save includes a blue tank in pursuit of a red tank. The red tank has a fixed gun and can only shoot pretty much right ahead and obviously the AI knows its limitations because (if you enter cheat mode Ctrl Alt s) if you enter courses for the red tank then chase it with the blue the AI ignores your course and speed and keeps the red tank going full speed away form the blue tank threat. I've browsed through some forum titles and didn't see one on the Gmae Tutorial, so I'm guessing this will be way to basic for of a question. First, let me say, I'm mainly a land warfare kind of a guy, WWII, Amer Civil. I like to start with the basics, so I've printed the manual and I'm trying to go through the Tutroial. A bit frustrating, first, the manual doesn't have th beginnning of the tutorial, after I finally figured that out, I cut and pasted from the in-game briefing and printed out the first few sections. But that was just the strat of the frustration. I've ran through the tutorial maybe half -doze times. starting with the submarine group vecto…

I've done it once before but can't remember how to make a helo with a ASW loadout automatically deploy its sonar bouy's. Their is some type of alt/speed/hdg pattern that you use when inputing the helo's path. Can anyone help? Thanks, Steve

Hi, I installed HCE and 3 updates in succession, culminating in HC2009.35 beta on a new net book using Windows XP home. When I click on the desktop icon, I get the MATRIX opening dialog, but when I click on "Play", I get an error. "Printer: EndDoc failed!" . The files have worked on a previous desktop installation. Same thing happens if I execute Winharp32.exe. The scenario editor works. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Smitty

Hey everyone, just upgraded from a 1680x1050 (22") monitor to a full HD 1920x1080 (24"), and I found that the Group and Unit Windows has some kind of lock/max size on it. Is this intentional/intended (perhaps a windows OS limitation)? I prefer to have a bigger Group window rather than Unit window. Not a big problem (it's already huge anyway), but just curious.

The new map is great, but i wonder if it could be possible to increase slighty the resolution when you are zooming in. thanks a lot.
