From Macleans May 15, 2005 'We were abandoned' An elite unit of snipers went from standouts to outcasts -- victims, many say, of a witch hunt driven by jealousy and fear MICHAEL FRISCOLANTI Lying low beside the rifle, his stomach touching the ground, Cpl. Rob Furlong concentrated hard on his breathing. In, out. In, out. In, out. Deep, but not too deep. Slow, but not too slow. The tiniest twitch -- a heavy exhale, perhaps, or a breath held one second too long -- could jerk his weapon ever so slightly, turning a sure hit into a narrow miss. In the sniping world, where one shot should always equal one kill, steady breathing is just as crucial as steady a…

I bet you thought this was another porn spambot post, shame on you! If you happened across the attack in progress against us today and weren't satisfied with the quality of naked females, we apologize. As a measure of protecting you from poor porn we've applied a one line security update to prevent a SQL injection attack that may be to blame for the antics today. Your truly dropped the ball and didn't notice it since it wasn't released as a patch by Invision, just a news announcement . Once again, please accept our apologies.

First off, I'm not a detail person when it comes to models, in fact I tend to buy them to convert to RC operational toys, this one had a strange below waterline but not full hull so I didn't convert it. Anyway, thought there might be minor interest in the bookshelf contents, it kind of scared me the limited subjects it covers (war/war/war sci-fi/electronics, textbooks/big books again mainly war Forgot my rocket, Sizzler! (flown once so far with a big engine, flew just high enough to lose sight of it) In case any of you are nuts and note the absence of Harpoon paper rules, you'll be happen to know they are at the office, not on my bookshelf at …

I saw this on Youtube and thought it was cute... The song, "Virgin's High" is the theme to anime called Sky Girls, so it seems appropriate that someone used it as the soundtrack for images of the Japanese Air Force. Sky Girls actually contains some pretty good flying scenes, although some of the tactics employed against the giant tentacled horrors are rather bizarre. What is not bizarre is that, when monsters attack, and exotic technology is Earth's only hope, it is completely reasonable to have the priceless prototypes armed and piloted by Japanese schoolgirls. Everyone knows that's just common sense! Here's the actual opening of the anime, in case an…

New job this year, after 5 years walking 10 minutes to work, now I'm a daily commuter, 73 Km./1 hour 15 min. up and down in a boring bus (Rented and payed by me and by some of my coworkers of my public administration !!), but this year we can use the new Netbooks, For trials, and as Xmas present from me to me, I purchased an Asus Eee PC 1000H (Warning, The "H" matters for obtain the full specifications, 10,2" screen, 1 Gb RAM, expandible to 2 Gb, 160 Gb. HD, Intel Atom 1,6 Ghz processor, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 of, I think, 256 Mb, and wireless IEEE 802.11n/draft-n), and, as temporary conclusions: - Cramped keyboard and screen, but usable. - Some pr…

Friends, As some of you know, I do a bit of writing for Steve Jackson Games. The new version of GURPS has a wonderfully streamlined system for vehicles, very useful for GURPS itself, but some of the statistics are a little hard to track down for those of us trying to write game versions of various real world vehicles. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good sources for the following information... For ships and submarines: 1) Although it is not too hard to find the standard displacements and full load displacements for warships, for a lot of cargo ships, they only list tonnage (which is a measure of volume, not actual mass). While I am sure using to…
