File Name: HCStrikerFictDB File Submitter: TonyE File Submitted: 05 Mar 2007 File Category: Databases Database Description: This database is not intended to reflect reality, it is a collection of my own imaginary platforms and those of the people around me. There will be many versions of one of my favorite planes, the F-14, and my favorite ships, Iowa class Battleships. Please contact sysop@tgp.net with suggestions. *NOTE - The EC2003 & WestPac battleset scenarios will not work with this database, only scenarios written for this database will function. Cruising through the HCDB-080712 recently, I noticed that the American Mk48 Mod7 torpedo is limited to a max depth of Shallow(!) This seems a little odd, since the Mod6 could go all the way down to VDeep, but I suppose it is vaguely plausible if the torp was meant to be used in the littorals. However, if this is accurate, then I really, really think that the Virginia class SSNs ought to have at least a few torps aboard capable of handling a blue-water ASW engagement ...

I'd like to see boarding parties (like that of the the pirate dhow) on patrol boats like Australian Armidale class. Would be particularly nice if one day there is a 'take command' function as an option to damage. I have been trying a pirate dhow against the new suicide boat, the dhow has lost each time so far. Not an important matter, but can the pfbuild2005.mdb be used in a sub folder and import/export the commondb.res file to that sub folder instead of the HUCE root folder. I've tried but can't get it to work, I just would prefer to leave the commondb files alone in the root folder. Don Thomas

Introduction Harpoon Classic now has its first ever, user-editable database. What follows is an outline that will help you understand and utilize the Platform Editor that Jon Reimer so graciously and effectively designed for us. The Platform Editor allows you to manipulate existing data and add new items to the database for the WESTPAC and EC2003 Battlesets. ***CAUTION: Never, NEVER, delete a Major Annex entry in your database. Doing so will almost certainly cause HCGOLD to crash after exporting the database to the Game Engine (GE, henceforth). Major Annex entries are Aircraft, Ships, Submarines, Weapons, Sensors, Mounts, Installations and Text Description…

This thread has been created to accommodate requests for the Harpoon Commander's Edition (HCE) World Wars Database, or HCWW. The HCWW is a custom database that will initially focus on aircraft, ships, submarines and installations of the Second World War, and in due course, if room is available, select platforms from the First World War. It is important to keep in mind the limitations of the current code when it comes to modeling WW1/2 era engagements, however, including: less than ideal modeling of aircraft guns; difficulty in modeling radio intercept; no limitations to communications; targeting based on formation center rather than unit to unit; etc. That said, I…

A curious article about air-to-air radar ranges. The author don't cites sources and it's a little outdated, but the numbers are very coherent: http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~dheb/230...les/PG/PGSA.htm http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~dheb/2300/Admin/Index3.htm The article is game-related, but interesting.

  14. Greetings, Is the SKRUNDA (AR SWATH) PB for Latvia, part of the HUCE DB? Two of four units have been delivered as of 2012 and I was wanting to utilize it, in a planned scenario in my BRICS campaign. If you need details on the class, let me know and I can provide them.

I think this is the right place for this information. At the original database, CV Kuznetsov can only wear 36 aircraft. David Miller, "The Illustrated Directory of Warships, London, 2001", says that "the planned capacity of the ship is 58 aircraft". And Chris Chant, "Barcos de Guerra, Alcobendas, 2006", says that it is able to carry between 60 and 70 aircraft. If you are editing your own database, as I do, you can modify this entry. A typical air wing of 60 aircraft could be: 36*Su-33 Flanker. 12*Ka-25 Hormone A, ASW. 6*Ka-25 Hormone B, Search. 6*Ka-31 Helix, AEW. David Miller also says that a 58 aircraft air wing would be composed of 36 Flankers, …

  18. The Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) is a weapon made by Boeing and the Saab Group, who modified Boeing's GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) with the addition of a rocket motor. Initial testing began in 2015. If supplied to Ukraine in 2023, this would mark the weapon's first export and use in combat. The weapon is launched from ground-based missile systems such as the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System and M142 HIMARS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_Launched_Small_Diameter_Bomb View full record

  20. Some considerations about the MiG-31 Foxhound and his variants, after the latest news of the March 2012 issue of Air International, and the book MiG-31 - Famous Russian Aircraft, by Yefim Gordon, Ian Allan – Midland 2005: The MiG-31M Foxhound-B development ceased near 1997 (for the english version of the Wikipedia and other books or sites the MiG-31M is confused with other variant or variants of MiG-31, and erroneouly stated as “in service”, and equipped with in service K-37 missiles). The MiG-31M Foxhound is a new airframe with six supports for big AAM in the underbelly, the other variants have only four supports. The K-37/AA-X-13 Arrow development ceased als…
