August 24, 200817 yr Cruising through the HCDB-080712 recently, I noticed that the American Mk48 Mod7 torpedo is limited to a max depth of Shallow(!) This seems a little odd, since the Mod6 could go all the way down to VDeep, but I suppose it is vaguely plausible if the torp was meant to be used in the littorals. However, if this is accurate, then I really, really think that the Virginia class SSNs ought to have at least a few torps aboard capable of handling a blue-water ASW engagement ...
