Just a note of thanks to Larry Gertner (wombat1417) for retrieving and uploading all of those older Harpoon Classic scenarios for our collective enjoyment. Good job!

Are there more detailed instructions somewhere on the web on using the scenario editor than the ones that come with CE? I'm frustrated with the continuous and variable attack settings. I'm trying to launch an attack against an airfield every 15 minutes starting 20 minutes into the game. I believe I entered all input info correctly but don't get an attack every 15 minutes. I have also noticed that once aircraft have released long-range weapons they do not return to base but continue on towards their target become easy targets themselves.

AAR: Third Idea [spoiler Alert] A Harpoon Classic scenario By Brad Leyte After reading the Order of Battle arrayed against the Japanese Self-Defence Force, all JSDF fighter-bombers were re-configured for Air Superiority operations. The sheer number of enemy aircraft was staggering to say the least. CVBG Bush went to full speed and raced for the Japanese home islands in the hope that she would arrive in time. Her CVW [Air Wing] was ordered to ferry to Japan with whatever loadouts they had available. Since the JSDF and the USN both used AMRAAMs, they could re-load from Japanese stockpiles. The JSDF was going to need every helping hand they could get. Gua…

AAR: Thunder Dragon [spoiler Alert] By Brad Leyte Operation Thunder Dragon was in full effect; the hunting and trapping of an entire USN carrier battlegroup. I checked my forces and found that I had a fair number of aircraft and ships. Unfortunately, most of them were near or past obsolescence. However, to paraphrase Comrade Stalin, "Quantity is a quality in and of itself." My patrol assets were sent aloft immediately in hopes of catching a sniff of electronic emissions from the CVBG. Intelligence had reported that there was a CVBG in the area, but could not be more specific. Almost right after takeoff, the enemy emissions were detected smack in the midd…

  7. View File China Submarine Exit to West Pacific For Classic Harpoon version 2025.025, Westpac Battleset and HCDB2 170909 Database There's two hypothesis for this fictitious scenario: First, a change in USA focus and deployments has left no USN forces in the West Pacific region other than a sole SSN that is in transit after maintenance at HMAS Stirling, Western Australia. Second, internal Taiwanese political change has led to a swift change in status with PRC who now have use of Taiwanese facilities and have announced a forward military presence in the smaller island countries of the west pacific to enhance their securit…

Hi all, I'm new to the world of Harpoon and have been inspired by the recent flare-up of debate over the Falklands to experiment with the Battleset and Scenario editors, using the latest HCDA database. Having played a few games I've come to appreciate the qualities of electronic warfare platforms. In the Falklands the UK has a Joint Communications Unit providing EW support to its armed forces. This is based at RAF Mount Pleasant. I wondered whether there was any way of including such a land-based platform in my scenarios? I'm familiar with the airborne platfroms but I can't wrok out whtehr a land-based one is possible within the game (and if not, why not?). …

The action was excuted mostly by DevGru (Naval Special Warfare Development Group) members, previously the SEAL Team Six and nowadays with other classified name, descended in the house by fast rope and probably in collaboration with other Special Forces/CIA/I…

  10. I played this scenario as BLUE (USA) This is quite a big scenario! At the beginning your forces are more or less surrounded by RED bases, ships and aircraft. The assets in Thailand can be ignored, I couldn't find any use for them, only 3B2s are available at Guam and quite far off in the beginning. What was a bit frustrating is the fact that many of my Super Hornets on the Stennis were not outfitted with desirable outloads. I only had 4 aircraft fit out in "Intercept" role. I launched two Hawkeyes and pretty soon dozens of chinese aircraft started coming in from multiple vectors. I immediately readied two dozens of further aircraft with AA-loadout but the first 30…

After Action Report for 'A Nice Little Shootout' A scenario by Pawel Kurek (PAK) 'A Nice Little Shootout' is a new HCE scenario for the EC2003 GIUK Gap battleset. I played the scenario using beta 2010.001 and the HCDB database. Scenario Background Orders As commander of the NATO (Blue) forces, you are directed to move the friendly amphibious group (AFS) southward at best speed toward safer waters along the Polish coast, while a multinational surface action group (AGS) is directed to try and rendezvous with AFS, to provide it with some better degree of protection against Russian attack. Also, you are directed to scramble as many fighter aircraft a…

Greetings. Back into Harpoon. Looks like lots of changes since I last engaged. Working to develop a better understanding of scenario engagement planning. Is there a way to view the orders each platform has in a scenario? I found where I can edit orders but not view what they are before I edit the order. For example, a missile base has a series of 5 attack orders. I can edit the target of each order but I cannot tell when the order is to be carried out. Thanks in advance. Geo
