Neutrals engaging in hostilities

Featured Replies

A neutral surface combatant launched an unprovoked SSM attack on Red forces. This was not programed in the SE.

Customary?

Unfortunate but fairly customary, certainly undesired :(

I've seen Red forces attack Green ships, too, but I haven't seen any get sunk yet.

I've thought a little about this...

The nice thing about the Green side is you often don't know where they are at first, which can add to the "fog of war." And you can have some Blue-on-Green kills, which adds a new "be careful" dimension to the game. (It's a shame those can't be built into the Victory Conditions--sink a Green sub and you lose even if you accomplish the mission, etc. That would make things a little more challenging.)

I suppose you could "fake" Green ships by making them Blue. (E.g., America is at war with Libya but a British ship is nearby and might get hit by the Libyans by accident.) This could be handled with the Orders files--the British ship could defend itself but is absolutely NOT supposed to go looking for the Libyans, etc. So it is in the battle zone but is not supposed to actually join the "real" Blue forces.

Any thoughts on all this?

Mark

One of the problems with the Neutrals (simulated and real alike) is the exchange of information with other units. You may or may not want to have these "neutrals" exchanging contact and sensor data, but unfortunately its not currently possible to restrict it.
