Torpedo: I just tried to sink a located and identified Tango with MK48s and MK50s. I fired 13 torpedoes within range and all missed. Has there been a change in the algorithm for torpedo combat? Missiles: I just can't miss with my Aim-120s. That too seems odd. I mean the Aim-120 is good, but not that good. Has there been a change in the algorithm for missile combat? Are air-to-air missiles undetectable? Dipping Sonar: My SV-22s and MH-60Rs have dipping sonars. While listed in the unit display, the F9 screen doesn't show them as being present (ie no sonar "on" button) However, if I push the "." (period) button it appears the dipping sonars become active and…

From Greg Wilcox at Matrix Games: "Hi everyone, We've got a Public Beta (v2008.024) Update available via our Members Club. While we do final testing we figured we'd offer you a change to get it early as well. This is still a beta, but it's stable and solid as far as we can tell and includes a brand new feature - The BattleSet Builder! See the change list list below for details. You can download this as a Registered Download as long as you have registered your Larry Bond's Harpoon Commander's Edition serial number in our Members Club (click on the MEMBERS link in the top nav bar). WARNING ! This is quite a large update and with the new features included it weighs in a…

Yeah, after my clumsy fingers slipped and clicked "cascade" for the umpteenth time, I am suggesting some kind of "lock" that means you cannot change the window settings when ticked/chosen. Thanks.

Have returned to Harpoon after an extended absence. Have purchased and been playing CE. Have noticed scenarios for EC2000 on this site. However, no option for this in CE. How does one play an EC2000 scenario?

  11. OK, now I'm really shocked. I've just started the 10th scenario in EC2003 GIUK in my newly bought HCE and what do I find on my aircraft carrier? F-15s! and F-22s! Please, tell me, what's going on here? (And I'm pretty sure I've seen this thing in HC 2002 already.) And please allow me some well-justified irony: Should I expect B-2s launched from enemy aircraft carriers?

  12. Started by Axure,

Why is the world so "flattened" in WestPac? If it were only for the aesthetical twist, I would have lived with it, but it seems to apply to game mechanics too - and in a random fashion! What I mean here is that some range circles are regular circles, and others are elliptical! It looks really funy, when you consider circles related to the same group. I won't laugh anymore, though, if it will turn out that my missile range is elliptical, while my enemy's is circular, and I won't be able to reach him, while he'll be doing just fine shooting at me!

Forgive me, but I won't try to give you the whole bug report. I think the screenshot is self-explanatory: a KC-135 tanker landed on an aircraft carrier Just to give you some background (perhaps to help reproduce), I'm still playing HDSI 11.0 in HCE. I have formed an AtG strike group out of 6 F-16s and a KC-135 for range extension. After the refueling was complete, I was asked where should the KC-135 land and among the options were all the aircraft carriers! So I though - what the hell - and decided to try it out . By the way, some time ago in HC 2002 I managed to land some C-130s on an aircraft carrier too

I'm playing HCE, an EC2003 scenario called "Steal Second" (HDSI 11) and I've noticed a very strange thing: Both AGM-64 Phoenix and AGM-120 AMRAAM have a 60nm range. And while the C5 version of AMRAAM indeed is estimated to fly as far as 65 nm, the Phoenix is widely known for its superior range of over 100nm. How is it possible then that here it's so short? On a separate note - while playing another scenario (which I've attached in my previous topic) there's been no possibility to convert any of my aircraft to a tanker. And I did have F-18s and S-3s on my carriers... Is that normal? I mean - what a strike group is worth if it can't reach beyond its strike aircraft (F-1…

First, I may be over-generalizing the screen names, so forgive me as I am not in front of my home computer. When a unit is first detected, but not classified, the icon appears in yellow on the main screen. Once detected and classified, it appears in red as a solitary icon representing any number of actual ships/aircraft/subs. In this case, lets talk surface ships. In the Pakistan Blockade scenario, the Indian group was first three, then seven, and finally eight platforms represented by the single ship icon as they were classified. Do enemy units that have been detected and classified appear individually in the more detailed upper left-hand screen? It does show in…

I was going through some files I had pulled off the defunct Harpoon Scenario Warehouse site and I rediscovered some really good scenarios that were part of a campaign called "The Bitterink Saga". They were written by someone with the tag "The Old Master". He left The Saga hanging with the promise of two more scenarios, but I've never been able to find them. I would like to know who he is so I can thank him for his great work and ask him where the missing scenarios are. For clues, The Saga was written(?) in May and June 1991, and his ID on the Harpoon Scenario Warehouse bulletin board was HSWBBS # 468 @7851.
