Are there any examples of GCI radar sets inthe H4.1/HT data annex? After determining the performance of the respective French and Yemeni AI radars and seeing how what little performance that they have is halved one altitude level below, and two levels above, I'm thinking that the Yemeni's may have needed directions to get to the ballpark.

This is a post on HCE regarding the FREMM ASM towed sonar Captas and Sonar 2087... "I was lacking H4.1 data on both these sonars when they were created in the HCDB. If anyone has H4.1 data or suggested provisional data, I'd be glad to receive it." Does anyone have info on these? Thanks.

With the news that India finally has firm (well, maybe) plans to induct the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) into service, I'm wondering if anyone has worked up some H4 specs. Peter? Craig?

Does each missile of a "raid" need to be detected in order for it to be engaged? In this engagement I played it yes. 4x very small signature, sea skimming RGM-84D's fired at a detected Sovremenny Type 956EM Destroyer at a range of 60nm. Initially two were detected, by the Mineral-ME 3D radar, at a range of 9.0nm and engaged by both Yozh mounts in the 2nd fire phase of an Engagement Turn. I halved the ROF to 3 missiles each mount. I believe this to be wrong but wanted to give the Sovremennyy a fighters chance. In the very next Movement Phase the 6x Grizzlies engage and destroy the 2 detected Harpoons. Also 14 more, 7+7, Grizzlies launch from the Sovremenny…

Peter Grining (PG) was able to provide me with H4.1 compliant "3D" stats for the above radar set, but did not have any for "SS". Anybody have the Surface Search stats for a EL/M-2228 "Surveillance, Track And guidance Radar" set? This set was apparently installed on the Indian Navy's Type-16A Brahmaputra FF replacing the RAWS.03 when they also swapped out the failed, locally developed "Trihul" SAM for the Israeli Barak system. Thanks

Pardon ignorance on this subject, but were tomahwak cruise missiles ever intended for the ASuW role? Recent history has played out its virtues in the land-attack mode. Is the TLAM phraseology indicative of its main, designed, purpose or just its more prevalent role? The question arises from my recent compilation of various ship data forms representative of the 1/2400 and 1/6000 models I currently have. For example, the Slava CG appears to be quite well protected with SAM's and other air defenses. The Bunker Hill (Tico VLS) has a boatload of tomahawks but only 8x Harpoons. Did a presumed 1990's conventional east-west naval engagement envision tamahwaks in an ASuW …

Game arrived yesterday after a pleasant e-Bay auction. This game is essentially a lite version of our beloved paper Harpoon game. The rules book is a whole 16 pages. You won't see a distance measurement in any unit other than hexes, no altitude bands, etc, just fighting! The included map covers roughly the GIUK gap. More details to come as I explore more.

Hi For some sonar, the classification is impossible (as against MF Quiet for example). So, to ensure the type of the target, we have to move to active sonar, which is dangerous. Might it not allow the classification with a passive penalty?

Hi The Sub is not known if the contact is found in a direct path or convergence zone. But an TMA solution is possible only in direct path, less than 20 nm. So, after a few rounds of contact without TMA solution, the Sub will know that the contact is in CZ. Am I right?

From chat tonight. Discussing how use of Brahmos, or even SS-N-25 Switchblade equipped ships vs a SS-N-22 Sunburn equipped ship (see Shipwreck Indian Russian Engagement thread), it boils down to if the target gets detected by scouting helos, survival is based on its short ranged SAMs and countermeasures Sea King Mk.42 carries a Super Searcher. Detects a Medium target at 115nm. Radar horizon reduces that to 108nm if helo is at Medium Alt. Sovremennyy Mod carries F/A(1)2 Yozh Sa-N-7b w/ 24 Grizzly. Top Plate B 3D detects the large target at 160nm, reduced to 110nm due to RLOS. So each detects one another at roughly 109nm. Sa-N-7b has effective air r…

Todays foul weather coupled with my 40 minute commute that took 2.5 hours gave me plenty of time to think about All Weather Attack Squadrons. What a capability to launch, seek out, and attack an enemy while they are beset by such aweful weather. Luckily I had my data annexes etc on the passenger seat so I was able to glance, while idle, at High Tide Annex B and its entry for the A-6E TRAM. Since I also mounted two 1/6000 A-6's on a single mount last night, I may need to give some more attention to a foul weather strike using the most glorious A-6 in my harpoon gaming. Since I'm still on this GCS kick as well, perhaps individual combat boxes (perscribed to be abou…

I'm looking toward employing my MEKO-140 and Halcon Corvetter/Large Parol Craft minis. Internet searches have not been very fruitful. I did find that the MEKO 140 is/was in use with the Argentinian Navy as the Espora Class an I have sufficient info on that. The Halcon is a different story. I have found that they were built by Spain for Mexico, and perhaps Argentina. What I have found on the Mexican Halcos is that the are armed with 40mm gun(s) and perhaps have the ability to launch a Bo-105 helo. Any additional information on the Halcon would be appreciated as they may make an appearance in a hypothetical scenario I'm brewing up. Thanks
