December 29, 200817 yr This might be a bit munchkiny, but ... whats your favourite type of unit (air, land or sea)? And whats your favourite specific unit?
December 29, 200817 yr Bah.... The venerable "MAGTF" Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force, coming in three flavors to the enemies of freedom. Marine Expeditionary Unit (a reinforced battalion packaged with fixed and rotorary wing aviation). Marine Expeditionary Brigade (a task organized formation with battalion/squadron maneuver elements) Marine Expeditionary Force (a tasked organized corps level organization with multible division and air wing elements) Not too prevelent in H4.1 terms, but I have strong feelings.
December 30, 200817 yr Author I got H4.1 mainly due to sub v sub rules. So i like sub units. My favourite specific unit before getting H4.1 was the Tornado aeroplane. Now that i have data annexs to pour over, my preference might change.
December 30, 200817 yr Whats the attraction of the Tu-22? I'd believe that here it can be boiled down to the fears and admiration developed in its threat capability against USN carrier battle groups in the cold war north Atlantic.
December 30, 200817 yr Whats the attraction of the Tu-22? I'd believe that here it can be boiled down to the fears and admiration developed in its threat capability against USN carrier battle groups in the cold war north Atlantic. That, the swing wings, its speed and its appearance.
December 30, 200817 yr I have to go with the Oscar SSGN. A Major ship-killer if ever there was one. Buddha
January 5, 200917 yr Author What about "most dangerous" units for land, sea and air? Which units are the most dangerous, and why (missiles, stealth, speed ...)?
January 6, 200917 yr What about "most dangerous" units for land, sea and air? Which units are the most dangerous, and why (missiles, stealth, speed ...)? Land: The M109 SP howitzer, because by casualty count, in modern land war the other branches really just exist to find targets for the artillery. Sea: The Ohio class SSBNs. You can vaporize anything on the planet in 45 minutes or less. 24 times. And good luck finding one that's hiding ... Air: The B-2 bomber. Stealth, intercontinental range, and 16 nukes.
April 30, 200917 yr Author Whats the most capable USA naval ship? Bit of a general question i know. I'm trying to identify a good all rounder. Back when i had 2nd Fleet i thought Ticonderoga and Spruance class's were good. Oh, and what was the name of the USA ship that had "the big land guns" on it? 152mm or something ... sorry i am short on details it has been a while since i owned 2nd fleet (was it missouri??). Are there stats for the B-2 stealth bomber anywhere?
April 30, 200917 yr Sea: The Kirov and her sisters. The lines were beautiful, and the ship was a fearsome platform in all areas of naval warfare.
April 30, 200917 yr Sea Favorite Kirov class specifically Pyotr Velikhy with the upgrades new s-400's, ciws missiles sa-9s this thing just needs a udaloy type to give it some asw sensors and it becomes a 2 ship show. Deadly vls ticos you can set them up for whatever from carrying a boatload of nuke tomahawks to satellite killer sam launcher Air in harpoon terms give me a squadron of backfires and the scenario is over, otherwise I personally like the f16's for their cost to bang ratios u cant beat it. Dangerous B-2's until stealth becomes obsolete then I think raw speed will make a return. Sub the old Daphne, my uncle was in the Portuguese navy and he took me on a tour of one once. In an exercise she managed to pop a shot off at an American carrier not bad for a then almost 30 year old sub. Dangerous Typhoon just sit in harbour and kill the planet one country at a time of course the ohio goes along the same lines.
