Reports via the BBC that two Tornado's have left RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland and also that two have landed at RAF Marham, possibly the same two but it seems that UK forces are now on the move.

I see BBC has good video and pictures of the MiG-23. And, oy, that was an awfully low altitude ejection.

Including pics of EA-18G Growlers at Aviano, apparently. That's awfully far away from the action. <_<

Canadian CF-18s passed through Prestwick last night enroute to Trapani airbase in Italy.

CBC, CNN and Reuters have confirmed that French aircraft are over Libyan territory. CBC further reporting that they are conducting reconnaissance missions.

Looks like Rafales of EC 1/7 'Provence' out of Saint-Dizier might have the claim of being first.

Good for them, they need the marketing exposure. :P

News agencies are reporting French jet fired first shots over Libya. Apparently ground target was attacked and destroyed.

CNN is reporting U.S. warships launched Tomahawk cruise missiles against Libyan air defence installations.

Here we go...

Just read this quoted in a UK paper: "The US Navy has three submarines flanked by two Navy ships that are stationed in the Mediterranean and ready to join the operation. The submarines are fitted with Tomahawk missiles, which are effective against aircraft."

Tomahawks effective against aircraft? Where do these people get their information!

Don't know. Next thing they'll be talking about the US sending "battleships"...

Deadly on parked aircraft. :D

Apparently calling this Operation Odyssey Dawn (at least from the US perspective), with the Tomahawks targeted against air defense sites around Tripoli, Misratah and Sirte.

Yes, Bloomberg are saying that.

I suspect the British codename will be a single word. It was Telic for Iraq in 2003, Granby for the 1991 Gulf War and Corporate for the Falklands.

I vote Antaeus! :D

MOD are saying via PA that the British have also fired Tomahawks from their subs.

Everybody is going to get a chance to test their newish weaponry, huh. AASM, Tactom, etc. B)
