HCCW-140314 by Brad Leyte (replaces the earlier version, HCCW-140220)

The HCCW (Harpoon Commander's Edition 'Cold War' Database) is a custom database for the period 1950-75.

The stock HCE scenarios for EC2003 and Westpac will NOT function with this database installed.

Use the stock HCE 'commondb.rsr' to ensure platform pic compatibility.

The HCCW adheres to a policy of adding platforms but not deleting to retain backwards compatibility with all HCCW scenarios.

  • Because I know you will write scenarios with these (and that is the single-most important factor at play here), I will make an exception and include these post 1975, (in)famous platforms.

  • All this work on the HCCW database makes a guy want to watch The Bridges at Toko-Ri.

  • Heh, yes, definitely an error there. I will look at it and you can expect a fix in the next version.

I'd like to do some Vietnam scenarios based on the HCCW. Can you please include small coastal ships (any kind), trucks and porters for the DRV? And some Flak units would be nice :)

I'm currently trying to convert a scenario from the Downtown boardgame to HUCE. I'd love to see the following units in the HCCW: A-4C, F-8D, MiG-17F, some AAA, an air field in Kep (21° 23' 60N, 106° 16' 0E), some AAA. I think the Hanoi airbase can work for Phuc Yen. Thanks for reading :)

Here are some targets I'd love to see included in the database:

NVA Bn

VC Bn

Railroad bridge (1 span)

Barracks

Road bridge (1 span)

Runway

Tower

Hangar

Revetments

Truck Park

POL storage

Rail yard

Depot

Steel works

Canal des Rapides (2 spans)

Thermal power plant

Transformer

Cement plant

Paul Doumer bridge (6 spans)

Ferry

Shipbuilding facilities

Barge construction yard

Ammunition depot

Vehicle storage

Air defense center

Radio receiver facility

They are all based on the Downtown scenarios.

All good suggestions, and I should get time to tackle these at the end of this week.

Been busy working on another mini project for HCE. :)

The Nord Vietnamese (DRV) aircraft wishlist:

MiG-17F

MiG-19S

MiG-21F-13

MiG-21PF

MiG-21MF

Not sure how all-weather capability is implemented in Harpoon. Basically of that list only the MiG-21MF should be able to operate at night or in foul weather, the rest is clear weather aircraft. Wishlist for US comes next :)

The US Navy wishlist:

RF-8A and G Crusader

F-8C and D Crusader

F-8 E and H and J Crusader

A-4C Skyhawk

EA-6A Intruder

EA-6B Prowler

EKA-3B Skywarrior

EF-10B Skyknight

EA-1F Electric Spad

Onto to the USAF wishlist:

RF-4C Phantom II

F-4D Phantom II

F-4C Wild Weasel IV

F-100F Wild Weasel I

RF-101C Voodoo

F-104C Starfighter

F-105D Thunderchief

F-105F Thunderchief

F-105F Wild Weasel III

F-105G Wild Weasel

F-111A Aardvark

B-52D Stratofortress

B-52G Stratofortress

EB-66 B, C and E

A-1H Skyraider

Note that I went for completeness and I'm aware that some planes can be easily exchanged with exciting ones in the database.

Nothing wrong with completeness. I will try to accommodate as many of these as possible.

Here's my wishlist for carriers on Yankee station:

Constellation

Ranger

Hancock

Coral Sea

Midway

Oriskany

Bon Homme Richard

Independence

Ticonderoga

Enterprise

Kitty Hawk

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Forrestal

America

Shangri-La

Saratoga

Taken from the Downtown Scenario booklet.

Thanks for the update of the HCCW! Some more wishlist items:

F-105D in flight re-fueling

SA-2b SAM for NV

Thanks.

F-105D in flight re-fueling

SA-2b SAM for NV

Thanks.

The F-105D lacking an IFR flag is an error. I'll fix that right away.

SAM systems to come in due course, together with those tankers we discussed earlier today.

Thanks for the recent update! I just noticed that it says Hanoi, Vietnam South instead of Hanoi, Vietnam North.
