Indeed, "Dreadnought" is much more political than military history, but at the same time has very interesting points about developing pre-IWW naval technology.

I recommend "Dreadnought" by the same author. You can describe it as a "prequel" to the "Castles". In "Dreadnought" Massie presents decades leading to the IWW (from 1901), with main theme being the naval arms race between Britian and Germany.

ROK is not inclined in any way to go for war (imagine - Seoul is in range of northern artillery) but will have to do something to avoid losing face. South Korea's president promised "enormous retaliation" if attacks like today's would happen again.

To make matters worse that neighbourhood bully apparently has problems with his personality - there is a struggle for power transition in the North and it is quite probable, that the party, bureaucracy and the army are more or less fragmented into factions.

Imagine, if Hornet with such a loadout would even be able to take off, maybe with a very small amount of fuel. But you know, today (or yesterday?) India conducted a succesful test launch of ship-launched Brahmos, I don't know what accounting office say would say when CVGB commander ask about repelling of hail of air-, sea- and sub-launched Brahmos'es.

A good read so far, quite possible that this book will finally "force" me to buy Crusader Kings with Deus Vult add-on...

Thunder Run: The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad by David Zucchino - actually I'm reading it for a second time. Excellent book about American surprising armor assault of Baghdad in 2003.

Thanks guys for your appreciation, I'm glad you enjoyed this little brawl over Baltic. BTW, I was quite surprised (and impressed) when I saw during testing of this scenario that AI is making air strikes against blue surface units on its own. I didn't plot any direct actions against surface groups, except for ASuW patrols from Pskov. Yet during test play Red AI scrambled all available planes with compatible loadouts and started attacks on blue SAG's - completely out of its own! It was funny, because in the beginning I was going to set up some additional strikes on blue airfields, using different groups of planes from those taking part in those early attacks. Follow-up attacks were set to start after around 30-40 minutes. But AI didn't want to wait so long - strike packages destined for those follow-up attacks against bases were quickly send against ships. Oh those brave Fencers pilots, taking on AAW frigates with lgb bombs! In the end I've abondoned the idea of additional strikes against blue bases, but left some aircraft with standoff ASuW loadouts. On the other hand Brad didn't encounter russian surface group, which is quite powerful - obviously I've placed this sag too far north. I was counting on that with speed of 30 knots red ships would be able to catch up fleeing blue phibgru. Also I was experimenting with antiship version of Iskander - for some reason I wasn't able to force it to start attacks against blue sag's.

Outclassed is a small understatement. Sahand was easily sunk during Praying Mantis op (two Harpoons, one Skipper II and few Rockeye's), sister ship Sabalan was crippled during the same clash. Great read about it in "Inside the Danger Zone: The US Military in the Persian Gulf 1987-1988" by Harold Lee Wise. So if this new one is classed as DDG, then Poland's long overdue corvette Gawron ("Rook") should be designated as BB (well maybe BBG).

Commentary between 1:43 and 1:46 simply "tells it all".

Ok, now it's clear.

While working on those EC2003 Giuk scenarios I've noticed, that for some reason you can't put F-35A on CV Mitchel. I know Mitchell is a "what-if" platform, but when F-15E or F-117 can operate from it and F-35A cannot, it seems illogical. In Platform Editor F-117 has a runway class "Small Aircaft", F-15E - "Large Aircraft" and F-35A - "Small Aircaft". CV Mitchel has a runway class "VLarge Aircraft" - so F-35A should be fit, just like F-35B and F-35C.

Hello! Just like Anthony and Brad hinted, any assistance would be most appreciated. It's simply a matter of devoting some spare time to play those scenarios. Outside evaluation will be a great help before I will start working on EC2003 NACV, MEDC and IOPG battlesets. I'm currently playing revised version of 11th scenario "Hot Rocks" As Anthony informed all revised EC2003 GIUK scenarios are availabe in Issue Tracker.
