  1. Very suggestive account, indeed.
  2. Very very interesting, but of difficult simulation in HCE
  3. Same idea in Spain from a lot of years ago, a sucession of European fighters: Mirage IIIEE,Mirage F1, Typhoon, and at the same time US fighters: F-86F, F-104G, F-4C, F/A-18A.
  4. Nice, thanks for sharing. This September in Lisboa I saw crossing by car the long bridge 25 de Abril two big tall ships below, anchored in the Tagus river, bow with stern. One was the Portuguese Sagres, the other the Mexican Cuahutemoc (because I saw the next days many aspirants with "Mexico" bands in the sleeves). I regret to have not photos, but the surprise of see unexpectedly the two ships made small by the large perspectives of Lisboa was very impressive.
  5. The new Puma Mk2 for the RAF (IOC 2012), as game effects basically adds 2xpayload and 3xrange, armor, RWR/ESM and decoys: http://www.eurocopte...=true&width=700 http://www.defensein...icopters-03784/ The upgrading was realized by Eurocopter Romania: http://business-revi...ent/puma-mk2-2/ http://www.capital.r...zat-171985.html
  6. The idea origin was today, when I saw this innovative French project, of assymetrical half-catamaran!: http://www.meretmarine.com/fr/content/cmn-devoile-un-nouveau-concept-de-batiment-furtif French La Combattante SWAO 53 (Small Waterplane Area Outrigger) design: standard displacement long: 53 m wide: 16 m deep: 2,6 m crew: 26+ space for 9 more speed: 30 Kn range: 1500 nm @ 15 Kn engines: 3x3300 Kw, two shafts. structure: weapons: 1x57mm, 2x30mm, 8xVL Mica aircraft facilities: 5 tons helicopte (Panther-type), no hangar. Hangar for two small UAV. boats in dock: 2x7 meters. sensors: TRS-3D cost:
  7. This thread idea is initially to compare the both controversial LCS designs with other alternative designs, in service, future or projected. Basically the parameters of comparation are those of cost, size, weapons (also in relation to size), crew size (and consequent fatigue levels), speeds and ranges, but extensive to all the other parameters, as sensors. The thread is also extensive to other conceptual alternatives, as replacement for another type of conventional warships, as FFG or FFL, or ever the replacement by another tactical or strategical concept, as UAV, manned air power, swarms of low technollogy boats or hired pirates.
  8. Don't forget this site for Russian/Soviet ships: http://russian-ships.info/eng/ It's a very complet and complex site, sometimes of difficult navigation, as in this case (This concrete one was of very difficult localization, by elimination, Wiki or other easy sources don't give the Russian Project number, but I determine it some months ago) : http://russian-ships.info/eng/support/project_15966.htm
  9. Some 15 years ago or so I tried to model 1898 Hispano-American ships in Harpoon 2, but a lot of bugs forced me to quit that game variant, and now I think I've less spare time to do any attempt to return to ANW, perhaps in 15 years more or so ....
  10. Very useful site ... if you have lots of cash .... http://www.cannonsuperstore.com/missiles.html (a AA-2c/AA-2-2/K-13R training round, I think).
  11. Really nothing impressive and very dangerous ....
  12. Really very impressive, and only two months after the war operations in South Atlantic!
  13. Welcome again!
  14. Oh, yeah! That should be a good way to make a cheaper and cost-effective LCS: balsa wood!!!
  15. Ridiculous. 30mm gun and speculative directed energy weapon ......
  16. Fascinating lecture Brad, thanks for sharing. A pair of links: Kargil War thread in the Indian forum (We've not any Indian Harpoon player?): http://forums.bharat-rakshak.com/viewtopic.php?p=1349498#p1349498 About the Kargil War, Indian Air Force views (including the article about Mirage 2000H operations, with more details about the weapons release range and attacks at Muntho Dhalo): http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/History/Kargil.html
  17. An interesting table digesting the class by gun types in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia....#Ships_in_class
  18. Incidentally, The Chronicle of Higher Education is ever a good lecture.
  19. In HCE I've tried the same questions with this scenario: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/files/file/616-lcs-goes-to-war-battle-off-vietnam-2015/ The idea is not to update the scenario, the idea is test the scenario after each updating in the DB of the hypothetical "offensive power" of the LCS. Also, the scenario was designed a lot of time before the decision of basing the LCS in Singapore, very near the operational theatre of the scenario ...
  20. A fine scenario idea: reasonable political premises, limited scope and clear objetives. Congrats!
  21. A picture of the phased-array antenna, from Mer et Marine: http://www.meretmarine.com/fr/content/dassault-livre-le-premier-rafale-dote-dun-radar-antenne-active
  22. And, at last, says "Submarines / Naming Convention /States of the Union", true for SSBN, but clearly untrue for the unmentioned rest of submarines But an interesting report, thanks for sharing
