Brad got me thinking about satellites this weekend and that got me to wondering how you, as scenario designers, like to define the path (altitude, direction, etc.) of a satellite. A satellite orbit can be fairly well described with 6 items of data as defined and explained at http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/basics/bsf5-1.html . I look at that and say, that's great but as a scenario designer is doesn't help me, in most cases I just want to plot a certain number of points and speeds over the map area I'm concerned about. That leaves some unknowns to be taken care of (like when it should appear next at the start of the path). Anyway, we're looking for ideas and I …

I have been unable to change a group's speed in the Scenario Editor. I've tried different delta's (1 sec, 1 hour, 1 hour before the time limit in case the timing is in terms of time left in the scenario) without any success. I realize I must be doing something wrong but ? Would someone suggest how I can change a group's speed at the beginning of the game (e.g., group ADU has a max speed setting in the Battleset Scenario I am hoping tp modify - I would like it to be at creep speed as soon as possible to the opening of the game). Thank you.

I'm planning a scenario using Diego Garcia, does anyone know what the current defenses are for the island? Besides the pre-positioned ships and the transient tankers and bombers what are the air defenses like and are there any fighters or garrison? Do any small naval combatants call the base home? Thanks for any insight.

I'm fairly sure the AI used to change enemy landed aircraft's loadouts on occasions in response to perceived threats/attack opportunities. Does this still happen does any one know. I'm trying an idea of reinforcing front line bases with aircraft part way thru a scenario but they seem to just sit in the new bases and not get used and I'm working on how to rectify this. Don

There's quite a bit of interesting reading here especially if you follow the various links. I'm wondering if things had gone bad and the conflict escalated to include significant naval and combat air action what would it have been like? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia–Malaysia_confrontation?wprov=sfla1

I've created a small scenario taking place in Vietnam and it gives me an error when starting it. It is designed to be used with db 65-80. Is there any way I can remove that error?

To anyone who tried my Falklands test scenario -- thank you and I do appreciate input. Thank you to CV32 who has updated the HCDA database to allow planes on the Atlantic Conveyor & its sister ship. I have just figured out how to simulate the Black Buck raids -- the bombing of Port Stanley from Ascension Island -- by using enough tankers and the split/join function to create groups where the tankers get refueled. With this we ought to be able to create a nice battleset of the '82 conflict. More to come.

I'm planning on doing a Falkland Islands scenario or possibly a few to study the various different force capabilities that would be available to the Royal Navy / RAF to mount a re-taking of the Falkland Islands should Argentina decide to invade depending on the timescales for attack. Looking at 2011 / 2015 and 2020 Basically 2011: Patched up Carrier Group with HMS Ocean, Illustrious and maybe even a rusting Ark Royal, with a few remaining Harrier GR9 planes any maybe some Harrier II's "borrowed " from the US Marines. Possibility of regional intervention from Argentine Allies (maybe Brazil - Carrier Sau Paulo ex Foch) 2015: Potential scenario with no …

bandits View File A seek and destroy scenario using DB hcda090513 and hunting red and green pirates and drug runners. Green targets must be taken using some form of boarding party (to confirm they are pirates/drugrunners), this can be done with correct helo loadouts and by selecting target and using "intercept" command, you can't "attack" a green target.
