Hey, I was just about to dive in and revise this old classic when I found myself wondering if anyone through the years had already done so. The problem with this scenario (as reiterated by the AAR I ran across in my search) is that, with the new sonar modeling, subs are much harder to detect. That, plus those 54nm-range wake homing torps, makes it nearly impossible for the CVBG to escape US territorial waters without losing the majority of its ships (including the CVN).
