Scenario Background:

New Russia Part One: The Invasion of Poland

Version 2.0

September, 15th, 2014.

One month ago, Russia invaded the Ukraine. This had been well prepared and the Ukrainian forces were outgunned and overrun in a month. Russia has taken control over the whole country amazingly fast and installed a Moscow friendly regime.

Nato acted helpless and chattered in different tongues. The US look weak and are heavily involved in the Middle East where the IS forces gain territory by the day.

Russia has decided to make use of this perfect strategic situation. It has massed troops, armored vehicles and aircraft all along the border and is ready to strike and ... win again.

This is a huge scenario. Nearly 1'000 aircraft and hundreds of mobile land units are involved.

At the same time, it is fast and furious, thus, especially in the beginning, game speed 1:1 is recommended.

I tried to set up the current Polish, Russian and German Air Forces and bases accurately. It is interesting to test how this mixed Polish force of somewhat aged American and Russian aircraft will perform against the modern Russian Air Force when the first blows come in.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Here we are: now it has become a classic Central Front battle. No Nato strategic bombers, no bases in the UK. The German Airforce, combimed with USAF assets, now has to support the Polish troops. So, in some way, it is a Cold War Central Front Battle warped from the 80ies into 2014 and moved East from Germany to Poland.

Really curious how this turns out for You - can Poland be defended or is it lost?

That´s strange, I don´t see this. I´ll look for it, thx.

In the SE cycle through Blue installations with your Backspace key and you will find two instances of the installation. Likewise, in the GE, clicking on the same icon twice will yield two instances.

With two different group codes (as Warsawa ZWA and Warsawa ZWB, as example).

Another small suggestion - your Russian tube artillery is given as 155mm, but in reality it is 152mm.

I played through again to completion.

The Russian air defences were harder to crack, but I had more Tornado IDS/ECR at my disposal so it played roughly the same time as last time.

Took me longer to run strike sorties, and to achieve victory.

Polish ground forces were chewed up.

Thanks, Brad, for both playing it and Your helpfull suggestions.

Will do a final update this weekend, making it V 2.1:

- delete the doubled base Warsawa

- cutting down the number of Nato aircraft

- and inserting a few more surprises

How did sea warfare work this time? The Russian CVBG should be hard to kill (?)

Have already started on New Russia Part Two :)

About the same as before. Boxing the battle group into Gdansk Bay - with Blue submarines closing in - really ensures its doom, imho. I would put the group into open water further north. This would have the effect of forcing the Blue subs to maneuver, instead of simply closing for the kill, and expand the front that Blue has to deal with. It would also put the group potentially under the air cover of fighters coming down from northern airfields.

I was part thru my second time around on V1 (but self imposed limit of blue resources) - I think I'll ditch that and dive straight into V2.

Yes, focus on V 2.0. Curious how it turns out for You.

There is still Warsawa twice als AAa and AIa.

What's about to cover the russian south side toward ukraina to prevent deep strikes?

P.S. Played someone the NATO side and was successful?
