Hello, My laptop was destroyed.....back ups were not the greatest..lets not go there...😡 I now have a WIN 10 Desktop and have installed HUCE. I can't figure out why the Scenario Editor will not open. I've looked throughout the forum and saw some mention of this happening in WIN7 but can't find an answer. Help please. Cheers

I'm doing some research on a larger Vietnam era scenario during the Rolling Thunder campaign[65-68]. I've learned that destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin were used for SAR missions and was wondering where the omni present helicopters are coming from. A friendly person on the consim world forum for Downtown has pointed me to this document: Navy SAR Vietnam report. On page 3 you can see a helo that is refueld in flight from a destroyer. Is this possible in Harpoon? Or shall I add it to my growing wishlist

If I buy the Matrix version of Harpoon for 59.99, will it load and run properly on my Windows 10 Laptop?

In older game versions, when I was dealing with a CVBG, when I opened the Formation Editor, smaller air capable units (an FF with a LAMPS for example) would be listed in the units pane with their air assets listed as "Auto". CV air assets were just listed, and assigned sectors manually. Now I notice, the "Auto" notation no longer appears. Is this a change, or did I turn it off somehow? Using "Auto Formation Air Patrols" seems to have no effect.

I understand that in HC, the water depth is determined by the further away it is from land, the more deep of the water is. I was looking at the red sea (middle east) for example, and I felt that the depth fall too quickly to the vdeep... Then I look at the depth around Great Britain also, I felt the same thing where the vdeep is a bit too close to the land.. Just curious on this, is there some consideration to change the calculation on depths--move it further from land? Not sure what everyone's thought on this is... maybe it's just me : )

Hey everyone, i just wanted to say i am glad to see such an awesome game as harpoon has a good community backing it up and keeping things fresh for everyone! This is my first forum post and i have been hanging out at CV32's irc room for a few weeks now. Hi, I installed HCE and 3 updates in succession, culminating in HC2009.35 beta on a new net book using Windows XP home. When I click on the desktop icon, I get the MATRIX opening dialog, but when I click on "Play", I get an error. "Printer: EndDoc failed!" . The files have worked on a previous desktop installation. Same thing happens if I execute Winharp32.exe. The scenario editor works. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Smitty

Tony or Brad: Are there specific instructions on how to utilize the battleset builder program. Via trial and error I've figured out part of it but I can't get my test battleset to be read by the scenario editor. It created a HCBS file but that appears to be incorrect. I'm trying to create a Hawaii battleset with an embedded database as a test. I got the map to work under the "my battleset" and the scenario editor sees that battleset. However, the battleset I'm trying to create, "test 1" with a Hawaii map (rsr file ?) and with an embedded database. Hello Harp community! I am a long time user of Harpoon in its various incarnations, currently using the tried and true HCE. I saw that the site got a facelift of sorts and decided to pop my head up. For those who dont know me, I served in the US Navy from 1991-2001 as a ST-S (Sonar Technician, Submarine) in the Atlantic fleet and been to many cold, interesting places. Ill try to keep up in here and lets keep this community alive!

I finally tracked down a copy of Harpoon Classic (DOS) & installed it. However, Scenario Editor won't launch (error message: :Missing HARPOON Resource File(s)" I have uninstalled & re-installed several times now, but get the same error. The game itself runs great. Any thoughts?

Just written my first message and realized that I did not introduce myself properly yet Long time Harpooner (from DOS PC game, only GIUK scenario ), it was long time that I didn't played the game. I'm wanting to do a short series of scenarios as ECM, SEAD and related operations with instructive orders. I need confirmation/ further comment on some ECM stuff. My summary is : Offensive ECM has (in the loadout window of the carrying unit) Target = Radar, Range > 0 (and not "Horizon") It reduces the likelihood of enemy radar picking up any aircraft in the effective area of the ECM . Defensive ECM has Target=Radar, Range =0. It only reduces the likelihood of enemy radar picking up the unit carrying the ECM. Jammers have a Range = horizon and reduce the likelihood of enemy missile hits on the carrying unit. Question: Can "Jammers" have Targets other t…

Just happened upon my CD box of Harpoon Ultimate Edition and will be exploring it again. One quick question, will the included Scenarios in the Battle Sets function correctly with the updated HCE Database? Or are the updated HCE Databases only usable with Scenarios created with them? Any advice appreciated.

On Ed Ladner's web page (I think) there are old links to "discussion" articles on HC weapons characteristics, tactics, theory, etc. I think that it would be a great boast to HCCE to see more like them, relevent and updated, like how to set victory conditions, how to set up the most basic scenario, how to plan a coordinated strike, how to take down a SA-10 battery, how to take out a CVBG, etc. What do you think you old salts? I haven played with the Classic Scenario Editor in some time, so maybe I just forgot the answer to this one. Under the Misc pull-down menu, what does AI Settings do? If no group is selected, it says an active group is required. If a group is selected, it doesn't do anything that I can see. I find no mention of it in any of the documentation. Thanx, Buddha
