Calling MGellis... I finally snooped into what you were seeing with blank lines for ship entries in the SE with recent versions of the HCDB. The deal is that 16-bit list boxes (the scrolling list of units) can show a maximum of 8192 items (we can only have 2048 items so we don't hit that limit) or 65536 characters of information in the entire list box. It is the 65536 character limit we hit, when the SE gets there, the rest of the lines after 65536 characters are blank. Simple math shows that to fit the max possible number of entries from the game (2048), each entry in the list box for the Platform Display must be limited to 32 characters max. I hav…

Pay 40 now for HCE or pay 75ish for ultimate and get ANW too? I suppose it kind of comes down to what is available for this game now and what future development is likely? To me HCE does not strike me as a high priority for the publisher to add too many new things to. So is the current version of the game compatible with many databases and scenarios?

I have a copy of HCE and can keep it up to date with the latest beta .exes. Other than having a complete collection of all the various versions of Harpoon, what is the benefit for a HCE player? And from something I read in one of the threads, did I correctly understand that purchase of HUE from Matrix benefits you guys not at all? This seems weird as aren't you the guys who provided all the update work?

I have a question about the formation editor which I can't seem to find an answer to. On the basic Matrix version of Harpoon Commander's Edition there are the four zones in the formation editor which I understand how to use. What I don't understand are what the extra two zones are for in the version I've downloaded here at HarpGamer. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I'd like to purchase the ultimate edition from the Matrix Games website and I have downloaded the latest beta HCEDemo-2016.003 from this forum to be sure that it will work with my Windows 10 laptop. Hi, Long time Harpoon user, but have not used it for many years. Just bought the ultimate edition. Is there a link or suggestion for workflow? I am a MAC guy (i7 IMAC), but have win 7 64 bit running via bootcamp. I just loaded the win xp emulator so i can use the scenario editor. What programs should i load and where (win 7 and virtual pc), suggestions on how do set up your folders, manage different databases (i like to play around with the platform editor...sometimes even more than the game). I've been trying to get back into playing Harpoon, I have the Commanders Edition that I purchased in 2008 and I have my serial number however I am struggling to identify what I need to download to play, if I go into the Matrix Games account and go to downloads it seems to list some updates rather than the full install which I guess I need to then apply the updates, where can I get the initial installation setup file?

I wonder if someone can give a definite answer to this question. Probably it has already been answered, and it may well have been asked by me before, because it's the sort of thing I would ask, but I don't remember. When a weapon is launched, does it head for where the target IS, or where the target IS GOING TO BE? Ditto for when the weapon is moving. May depend on the type of weapon.
